Symptoms of laryngitis during erysipelas

Clinically, it manifests itself with the same symptoms as phlegmon of the larynx, so some authors interpret this disease as hyperreactive streptococcal laryngitis. At the same time, in the presence of erysipelas of the face, spreading to the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx, a pronounced inflammatory process occurs in the larynx (bright hyperemia of the mucous membrane, edema, chondroperichondritis), erysipelas of the larynx cannot be denied.

Diagnosis and treatment of laryngitis in erysipelas

The diagnosis of "erysipelas laryngitis" is established on the basis of general clinical symptoms of erysipelas and the endoscopic picture.

Treatment of laryngitis during erysipelas is divided into general and local. Penicillin is administered intramuscularly, detoxification, decongestant, antihistamine and other symptomatic therapy is carried out; locally - inhalation of aerosols of antibiotics with hydrocortisone, alkaline-oil mixtures, according to indications - proteo- and mucolytic agents.

The prognosis is very serious, since, along with local pathological changes, the disease can lead to lightning-fast obstruction of the larynx; a pronounced septic condition of the patient is observed, disrupting the functions of vital organs.
