Today, more and more people complain about heel problems: spurs, calluses, cracks. Many ignore this problem, but this should never be done. If any problems with the heels appear, and especially cracks, you need to see a doctor as soon as possible, undergo diagnostics and begin treatment. Also, do not forget that treating cracked heels at home can be no less effective. At home, you can use herbal remedies, folk, homeopathic remedies, essential oils, aromatherapy. But before starting such treatment, you need to consult with your doctor.

Ointments for cracked heels

Of course, pharmacy ointments can be quite effective. However, it is not always possible to buy them. Then folk remedies come to the rescue. At home, you can quickly and without much effort prepare almost any ointment. Here are recipes that have long been used in folk medicine.

  • Recipe #1. Sea buckthorn ointment

Sea buckthorn is the most famous remedy that has a chic wound-healing effect. This is achieved due to the high content of active components in sea buckthorn, as well as vitamin and mineral complexes. Sea buckthorn is rich in carotenoids, which give it an orange color, and also provide basic properties, including the ability to quickly heal wounds on the surface of the skin, eliminate any damage, cracks, injuries. Sea buckthorn also has antiseptic properties: it kills pathogenic microflora, which in almost all cases acts as the main source of infection and inflammation.

To prepare the ointment, it is recommended to take about 200 grams of clean, sorted sea buckthorn berries. They must be thoroughly washed, placed in a deep bowl and mashed until oil appears. You can also grate the berries, but this will be less convenient. Some people prefer to use a blender or mini juicer. The method does not matter, since the main task is to extract the oil.

After the oil has been extracted, it must be kept in a cold place (preferably in the refrigerator) for an hour. Then take the starch separately and brew it with water. For one tablespoon of starch, take a glass of hot water. All this is mixed, thoroughly stirred until warm, until the starch dissolves and the resulting mass becomes sticky, jelly-like.

Then put the resulting mass on the fire, begin to heat it slowly. While stirring constantly, slowly add sea buckthorn oil, which has already stood in the refrigerator for an hour. Stir everything without bringing it to a boil. Then remove from the fire, leave it to infuse under a closed lid for 1-2 hours.

Apply 3-4 times a day, applying a thin layer to the damaged heel, directly to the heel area. Then you need to lie down for at least 10-15 minutes. You can apply a compress on top: soak a bandage in the prepared ointment, apply to the crack, then apply cellophane on top. Place a layer of soft, preferably linen fabric on the cellophane layer, and make another layer on top - dry heat (wool fabric). It is recommended to keep such a compress for at least 30 minutes, but not more than 1 hour.

  • Recipe #2. Tar-based ointment

To prepare the ointment, it is recommended to use any fatty product as a base. Palm, coconut, olive or sunflower oil have proven themselves to be the best. You will need about 200 grams of fatty base. Then heat the oil to a semi-warm state. During heating, add about a tablespoon of tar to the resulting suspension, continue heating and stirring until a homogeneous mass is formed. Do not bring to a boil. After removing from the heat, allow it to brew for at least 30 minutes. Can be applied directly to cracks at least three times a day.

  • Recipe No. 3. Wound healing ointment

The oil helps to eliminate cracks in a short period. Take one tablespoon of the nutritious base and add it to a glass of boiled hot sunflower oil.

The fatty nourishing base is prepared separately. To prepare it, take a tablespoon of chocolate, grated cocoa beans, dissolve in 50 ml of milk or cream. Chocolate and cocoa beans give the ointment a rich brown color, as well as a light, pleasant aroma of chocolate. Dairy products give the mass additional nourishing and moisturizing properties, a soft consistency and a pleasant aroma. To enhance the properties of the oil, soda is used in the preparation of the ointment, which is diluted in milk.

Then the resulting nutrient mass is added to a fatty base (sunflower oil) preheated to 50 degrees. Allow it to sit under a tightly closed lid for 2-3 hours, after which it can be rubbed into the stains until completely absorbed.

You can make the same ointment thick and solidified in consistency. To do this, add wax to the ointment. Beeswax, candelilla or carnauba wax are considered the most effective. It gives the ointment hardness and cares for the skin. Up to 5% of the weight of the ointment is used. The wax is melted over low heat, after which a nutritious base is added to it. Then, together with the nutritious base, the wax is added to the main oil.

  • Recipe #4. Exfoliating ointment

To prepare the ointment, take about 100 grams of the base oil. In this case, it is recommended to take butter or margarine as a base. Melt it in a water bath, add 3-4 tablespoons of water or herbal decoction, boil for 5 minutes. Then add the exfoliating base: about 5 grams (a teaspoon) of ground nettle, ground sage, ground linden flowers.

In addition to the exfoliating effect, these herbs can also have an anti-inflammatory effect. The herbs are added dry as soon as the oil has melted and boiled in a water bath for 5 minutes. Then set aside and allowed to harden. Apply in small pieces, apply to cracks, rub until completely absorbed. Can be used under a compress.

  • Recipe #5. Toning ointment

To prepare the ointment, take 75 ml of baby cream. Add half a teaspoon of ground coffee, ground peanuts and ground cinnamon. Mix everything thoroughly and apply a thin layer to the skin of the feet.

It is recommended to do the baths at night, before going to bed. The procedure should last at least 15 minutes. The water should be comfortable and warm. The optimal temperature is 40-45 degrees. It is prepared in advance: pine needles are washed and dried. Then it must be ground in a coffee grinder to a powdery state. Add a tablespoon to the bath.

  • Recipe No. 3. Sea bath

Take about 50-100 grams of seaweed, add it to the bath. Steam your feet, then you can keep the seaweed. It is enough for 2-3 baths.

  • Recipe #4. Lavender decoction

A decoction of fragrant lavender is suitable for both internal use and external application. Add a glass of dry grass to a liter of boiling water. Brew for an hour. Then pour a glass of decoction separately. Add a tablespoon of honey to it, and heat it to a hot state immediately before the procedure (bath). Drink in small sips during the procedure.

The remaining part of the decoction is used for baths before bedtime. Add to hot water, and there should be more decoction than water. The remedy is also used during the day, in between baths to lubricate the affected areas. On the first day, lubricate every 30 minutes, on the second day you can every 1.5-2 hours. Then move on to three-time lubrication until the cracks disappear completely.

Physiotherapy treatment

Physiotherapeutic means have long been used to treat various diseases, including cosmetic problems. If there are cracks on any part of the body, physiotherapy helps to solve this problem quite effectively and in a short time.

Physiotherapy is used as an independent treatment. But more often it is used as part of complex therapy. Quite good results can be achieved if physiotherapy is used after the main treatment, especially if it left spots and scars on the skin.

The main methods used in the treatment are ultrasound, microcurrents, waves of different lengths, and electrophoresis. Electrophoretic procedures are quite effective due to the fact that this method is used to introduce medications directly into the damaged tissue. No pain is felt. No discomfort is noted either. The depth of wave penetration is regulated by microcurrent. Cryoprocedures, thermal procedures, and peelings work well. Such modern methods as diamond peeling, grinding, laser procedures, and phototherapy are also widely used.

Surgical treatment

Surgical methods are rarely used. They are most often used when conservative treatment methods are ineffective. Sutures are applied, cracks are treated with various bonding agents. Deep cracks may require sutures. Sometimes rough skin areas are removed. If tumors or other neoplasms are found on the leg or heel, surgical treatment methods are also used. Surgical methods are also used for dilated blood vessels in the leg, blood clots, and atherosclerosis.
