Indications Darrow solution

The medication is prescribed to replenish fluid in the body in case of dehydration, especially in the context of the resulting acid-base imbalance and decreased potassium levels in the blood.

The drug is also indicated for long-term use of diuretics, when preparing patients for surgery, and in postoperative periods.

Release form

Darrow solution is available in the form of a solution for intravenous administration (droppers).

Pharmacodynamics

Darrow solution contains increased amounts of potassium and lactate.

In the liver, lactate is converted into bicarbonate, which gives the drug alkaline properties. If liver function is not impaired and the cells are fully supplied with oxygen, lactate serves as one of the main energy sources.

Pharmacokinetics

Darrow solution, when it enters the bloodstream, is excreted from the body by the kidneys in a relatively short time. Metabolism of lactate occurs in the liver.

Dosing and administration

Darrow solution is injected into the bloodstream using an IV.

Adult patients are prescribed from 100 ml to 2 liters per day.

The dosage is determined by the attending physician depending on the patient's condition.

Use Darrow solution during pregnancy

The medication is prescribed to pregnant women only in cases of extreme necessity.

Contraindications

Darrow solution is not prescribed in case of decreased urine output, high levels of potassium and sodium in the blood, acid-base imbalance in the body, low oxygen levels in the blood, acute water-electrolyte imbalance, pulmonary edema, critical forms of gestosis (late toxicosis), and late stages of heart failure.

Darrow solution can cause excessive fluid accumulation in the body, increased potassium levels in the blood, and cardiac dysfunction.

Overdose

Darrow solution in high doses provokes disturbance of heart rhythm.

Storage conditions

Darrow solution should be stored in a place protected from light and moisture. The drug is stored away from small children. Storage temperature is 10-25°C.
