Cavernous hemangioma of the eye - the most common benign orbital tumor in adults, is more often found in women (70%). Can be localized anywhere in the orbit, but usually within the muscle funnel, immediately behind the eye.

Cavernous hemangioma of the eye appears in 4-5 decades of life in the form of slowly progressing exophthalmos. Growth can accelerate during pregnancy.

Symptoms of cavernous hemangioma of the eye

  • Axial exophthalmos, which can be combined with edema with the optic nerve disc and folds of the choroid.
  • A tumor at the apex of the orbit can squeeze 311 without causing a significant exophthalmos.
  • There may be a transient fogging of vision in the form of a veil.

CT scan reveals a well-defined oval formation that slowly accumulates contrast.
