The epidermophytosis of the feet is caused by the fungus Trichophyton interdigitale.
Affects the nail plates (onychomycosis) and the skin of the feet (the formation of bubbles, cracks, scales and erosions). Hair is not affected. In the scrapings of nail plates and scales of the skin are minerals and arthrospores. The pure culture of T. Interdigitale consists of a thin branchy septate mycelium with pear-shaped microconidia (2-3 microns), macroconidia (5x25 microns) with chlamydospore septa.
Stop lesions can also cause Trichophyton rubrum, Epidermophyton floccorum.
