Bronchitis is one of the most unpleasant diseases of the bronchopulmonary system. After all, most often the pathology is accompanied by a painful obsessive cough, which is in no hurry to pass. And that's not all. Frequent coughing, accompanied by active contractions of the bronchial walls, can lead to their spasm. The bronchi are compressed, their lumen becomes narrower, which means that air penetrates the lungs with difficulty and in insufficient quantities. A person begins to simply suffocate, and this condition requires urgent and effective measures to restore breathing, which can be provided by some drugs that enter the bronchi through inhalation. But not all drugs are as effective as Berodual for bronchitis and bronchial obstruction. It is not for nothing that inhalations with Berodual in pure form and in combination with other bronchodilators have become one of the most popular procedures for this disease.

Bronchitis and bronchodilators

Bronchitis is a term used when the bronchi as part of the respiratory system are affected by an inflammatory process. What is inflammation? It is redness and swelling of the bronchial walls, which atfirst only causes irritation of the sensitive receptors of the organ's mucous membrane, accompanied by an obsessive dry cough.

With a dry cough during the acute phase of bronchitis, phlegm does not come off, since it is not yet produced in sufficient quantities. This type of cough is a real torment for the patient, taking away the last strength of a person weakened by the disease.

Then the cough becomes wet due to the mucus and inflammatory exudate produced. Productive cough is considered a milder symptom of bronchitis. However, if the sputum is too thick (viscous), expectorating it becomes problematic, and the cough may be accompanied by chest pain along the bronchi and severe irritation of the larynx.

It is dangerous to think that the transition of a cough from dry to wet, bringing relief to the patient, means the onset of recovery. Yes, the cough becomes less painful, the number of its attacks decreases, but the inflammation remains. And the inflammatory process, especially if it is caused by an infection, in the absence of effective treatment tends to become chronic. And then the slightest hypothermia of the body or a decrease in immunity will be accompanied by an exacerbation of inflammation and the appearance of a painful cough.

As a rule, a strong, prolonged cough can cause bronchospasm. This is the response of the bronchial walls to regular irritation that cannot be controlled by the mind. The patient cannot relieve the spasm of the bronchial muscles by the power of thought; he needs the help of antispasmodic drugs that help with obstruction of the bronchi.

Berodual is one of these drugs, used for bronchitis with a tendency to bronchial spasms. What makes it so good for bronchitis? The ability to use it as an inhalation, which works faster and more effectively for coughs than oral medication or injection therapy.

The fact is that without local application of drugs in the area of localization of inflammation, the fight against it is less effective. But the location of the bronchi is such that instillation and lubrication, as in the case of inflammatory processes in the nasopharynx, are practically impossible.

The only way to apply the medicine to the bronchial mucosa is to make sure that its particles penetrate inside with the air flow and settle on the walls of the organ (its ciliated epithelium). This is only possible when using a spray, or even better, through inhalation, which ensures greater penetration depth of the drug particles.

Inhalations with Berodual for bronchitis are the simplest and most effective way to ease the breathing of a patient with severe bronchitis and prevent bronchospasms in the future. But do not think that any cough can be accompanied by a spasm of the bronchi, and use the medicine without a doctor's prescription.

Indications of berodual for bronchitis

Cough, as one of the symptoms, can also accompany other diseases of the respiratory system: tonsillitis, flu, acute respiratory viral infections, sinusitis, etc. But in this case, the cough will be less painful, and often it does not require special inhalation treatment. In most cases, you can get by with expectorants and mucolytics in the form of tablets and syrups and such procedures as compresses, gargles, inhalations using sprays, nasal drops.

It is important to understand that bronchitis can also have different courses. In mild bronchitis, coughing does not cause severe irritation of the bronchi and does not affect their functionality. The probability of critical respiratory failure in this case is very low and there is simply no need to use bronchodilators such as Berodual for mild bronchitis. There are many effective bronchodilators that stimulate the removal of sputum from the bronchi without their strong relaxation. After all, the removal of mucus from the respiratory system depends on the contractility of the bronchi.

"Berodual" is indicated for lower respiratory tract obstruction, such as obstructive bronchitis, asthma attacks, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, severe pneumonia, tracheitis and even laryngitis. The drug is also used for tuberculosis or pulmonary emphysema to prevent respiratory tract spasms. Strictly as prescribed by a doctor, this drug can also be prescribed to heart patients, taking into account that in severe cardiovascular pathologies, the use of standard doses of the drug can be dangerous.

The drug is used for dry and wet cough. But for dry cough it does not have a pronounced expectorant or mucolytic effect, so it makes sense to use it without additional components only for bronchial asthma. In other cases, inhalations are carried out with saline and/or Lazolvan together with Berodual solution.

In case of wet cough, the drug helps to facilitate the transport of sputum outside the respiratory system and prevents spastic obstruction of the bronchi.

Yes, treatment with Berodual requires a certain amount of caution, but this does not mean that it cannot be used for preventive purposes. However, it is important to understand that a severe cough is not included in the indications for use of the drug until the cause of its occurrence is identified. If it is an inflammation of the upper respiratory tract or mild inflammation of the bronchi, there is no need to prescribe Berodual. Bronchodilators, which include this drug, are prescribed only if there is a risk of spastic reaction and obstruction of the bronchi.

Release form

Well, since we are talking about inhalations as the most effective method of combating severe inflammation, it would be useful to mention that the most convenient form of drugs for inhalations is considered to be a solution, and the most effective device is a nebulizer. In liquid medicinal forms, the active substance is placed in a liquid medium, which is a solvent for it, thus, the liquid contains the smallest particles of the drug, practically invisible to the eye.

Believe me, it is very problematic to crush tablets or powder mechanically to such a state that their particles do not irritate or scratch the bronchial mucosa, which is very sensitive due to inflammation. It is medicinal solutions that are recommended to be used in nebulizers - special stationary or portable devices that allow you to deliver drugs even to the deepest parts of the respiratory system (bronchioles and alveoli of the lungs).

The drug "Berodual", which is approved for local treatment only (oral administration is not allowed), is also available in the form of a solution, which is placed in a bottle with a dropper. The bottle volume is 20 ml.

For those who find this volume small, it is worth saying that one inhalation takes about 0.5-2 ml, depending on the patient's age. Even if you take the maximum dose and frequency of use, only 2 bottles of solution will be needed for the course of treatment.

Many people have already been able to appreciate the convenience of a bottle with a dropper. The fact is that the instructions for the drug indicate the dose in drops, and it would be very problematic to measure it accurately without a special device. And the drug "Berodual", used for bronchitis, is not one of the drugs for which dose fluctuations are safe for health.

But the inhalation solution called "Berodual" is not the only form of drug release. Another useful invention of mankind is sprays. Of course, they cannot spray medicinal components to such a depth as a nebulizer with a solution poured into it. But in some cases, a greater depth is not required, for example, with bronchial asthma with a lesion zone in the upper layers of the respiratory system.

The Berodual aerosol with a volume of only 15 ml is designed for 200 presses (1 press - 1 dose). A small but sufficient volume in this case is a plus, since it allows patients with bronchial asthma to always have such a bottle of medicine with them, which easily fits into a handbag, cosmetic bag and even a regular pocket on clothes.

Pharmacodynamics

Pharmacodynamics, or the mechanism of action of a drug, is considered in relation to its active and sometimes auxiliary substances. The drug "Berodual", popular for obstructive bronchitis and bronchial asthma, is considered a multicomponent drug with two active substances, the action of which is noticeably cast, but in combination gives an unrivaled antispasmodic, bronchodilator and bronchodilator effect.

Fenoterol hydrobromide is a substance that helps relax the bronchial muscles due to its effect on local adrenoreceptors. Additionally, this component of the drug helps reduce the inflammatory reaction and swelling of the respiratory tract tissues, which also increases their lumen and reduces sensitivity to irritants. A person gets the opportunity to breathe normally, his organs and systems do not suffer from a lack of oxygen, while the cough becomes less intense and frequent.

Ipratropium bromide, the second active ingredient of the solution and spray, acts like atropine, i.e. it reduces the sensitivity of acetylcholine receptors, the irritation of which causes bronchial spasm and activation of bronchial secretion production. If you block the action of these receptors, you can prevent the development of bronchospasm and reduce the production of mucus by the bronchial and other glands.

Relaxation of the bronchi during inhalations with Berodual occurs mainly due to local action. The medicine practically does not enter the blood, so there is no talk of systemic effects in this case.

It is important to understand that the medicine somewhat reduces the production of sputum, but does not stop it completely. That is, it is pointless to use the drug as an antitussive, and it is not safe, after all, it has a decent list of contraindications and side effects.

By relaxing the bronchial muscles, Berodual does not have a depressing effect on the ciliated epithelium of the respiratory tract, which continues to remove excess mucus from them. By widening the lumen of the bronchi and allowing their mucous to do its job, Berodual thereby facilitates easier removal of phlegm from the body, i.e. it alleviates coughing, but does not stop it.

Pharmacokinetics

Let us note right away that Berodual is a drug intended for local use only. When sprayed on the bronchial mucosa, it affects its receptors without penetrating the blood, so there is no point in talking about the pharmacokinetics of the drug. It is only worth mentioning that the drug has a good speed of action, which makes it a popular first aid remedy for bronchospasms.

The patient's condition is relieved within the first 15 minutes. Over the next one to two hours, the effect of the medicine gains strength, after which the patient can breathe freely and fully for another 4 to 5 hours, without fear of repeated bronchial spasm.

Dosing and administration

Bronchitis is a multifaceted disease, but it is common to people of any age. It is clear that the use of various drugs for the disease in adults and children may differ, and not only in doses.

For example, Berodual for bronchitis and bronchial asthma in infants and young children can be prescribed only in the form of a solution, using it for therapeutic inhalations. Moreover, it is recommended to do this with a nebulizer, because it is difficult to make a small child breathe correctly over steam so as not to burn the face and respiratory tract.

To relieve asthma attacks associated with spasms of the respiratory tract muscles in children over 6 years of age, both the solution and the spray can be used. The spray has a protective cap that must be removed before use. After this, turn the aerosol (spray) bottle upside down and insert the mouthpiece into the mouth. Press the bottom of the bottle with your finger once so that a stream of air with particles of the medicine gets into the throat and respiratory tract. Simultaneously with pressing the bottle, take a deep breath so that the particles of the medicine settle not only on the oral mucosa, but also penetrate deep into the bronchi. After holding your breath for 1-2 seconds, remove the mouthpiece from your mouth and exhale. To get the second dose, repeat all the manipulations from the beginning.

After the procedure, do not forget to put on the protective cap. If the aerosol is new, before its first use it is recommended to make two test presses with spraying the medicine into the air. This way you can avoid administering an incomplete dose, which will not have the desired effect.

For the treatment of children and adults, the spray is used in the same doses - 1-2 presses. The spray can be used 3 times a day. But if a child or adult is at risk of developing respiratory failure, he or she is given a double dose immediately, and then 5 minutes later, 2 more doses. After this, the injection of the medicine can be repeated only after two hours.

It is clear that these are general recommendations, and in each specific case the doctor will make an individual appointment based on the patient’s age and condition.

It is necessary to monitor the filling of the canister. It is clear that the opaque packaging of the medicine does not allow you to visually assess this value. But by immersing the bottle with the drug in water, you can understand by the degree of its immersion how soon the bottle will need to be changed.

Particular attention should be paid to the cleanliness of the mouthpiece on the bottle with the drug. After each use, it is advisable to wash it with clean water. If this was not possible and the tip became dirty, as a result of which its operation is disrupted, it can be washed with a soap solution, after which it must be rinsed with water.

It is clear that the spray is intended for long-term treatment (for example, for bronchial asthma or chronic bronchitis), but this does not mean that it cannot be used for acute bronchitis and other pathologies with a short treatment period. This also applies to the Berodual solution used in nebulizers as an independent drug or in combination with other drugs.

Berodual solution is prescribed to children under 6 years of age with caution. There is insufficient information about its use at this age, and experiments on children are not conducted for obvious reasons. And yet, doctors believe that a dosage of 6 to 10 drops per inhalation will not harm a baby, even an infant. The dose for the smallest is calculated as 2 drops per kilogram of the child's weight.

For small patients over 6 years of age, the drug is prescribed in a dosage of 10-20 drops per procedure to prevent and treat bronchospasm. In severe illness, the pediatric dosage may be increased to 40-60 drops as prescribed by a doctor. In critical situations, it is permissible to use a dose of 80 drops, but when the child's condition improves, it must be reduced to the minimum effective dose.

Adolescents aged 12 years and older are classified as adult patients, as are elderly people. The initial dose of the drug for them is 20 drops (1/20 of the bottle or 1 ml). This is usually enough to relieve an asthma attack or mild bronchospasm.

In severe cases of bronchial obstruction, doctors consider it necessary to increase the dose to 40-80 drops, but it is important to understand that no more than 8 ml of the drug can be inhaled into the human body per day (2 times 80 drops or 4 times 40 drops).

Berodual solution is considered a concentrated preparation and is not used undiluted. It can only be diluted with saline (0.9% sodium chloride solution). Distilled water, injection water, boiled tap water or purified water are not suitable for the inhalation composition based on Berodual solution.

Inhalations with a nebulizer for bronchitis using Berodual and saline solution are carried out as follows:

  • The first and very important requirement for inhalations is the cleanliness of your hands and the device. You will need to take care of the cleanliness of the device in advance, rinsing it with water and an antiseptic. But you will definitely need to take care of your hands the day before the procedure, washing them with soap and drying them with a towel.
  • We assemble the nebulizer, check it and pour the prescribed dose of the drug in the form of a solution (at first the minimum, and if necessary, increased) into its container. Add saline solution on top to the 4 ml mark. This will be the total volume of the composition.
  • We attach the nebulizer mask to the head and turn on the device.
  • Be sure to inhale through your mouth, then hold your breath for a short time and exhale through your nose.
  • After the procedure, the nebulizer must be thoroughly washed.

A portable nebulizer can be used at home to treat adults and children. But remember that inhalations cannot be performed immediately after physical exercise or eating. At least an hour and a half must pass before you can begin the treatment procedure. This will avoid a large load on the heart and digestive system.

The inhalation solution should not be cold. If necessary, it can be heated in a water bath.

The frequency of the procedure for children under 6 years is usually 3 times a day. Older children are allowed to have inhalations even 4 times a day. For adults, depending on the severity of the pathology, the doctor prescribes 3-4 inhalations per day, while the time interval between procedures should not be less than 4 hours.

Inhalations for children are done for 2 minutes. At the same time, parents should ensure that the mask of the device fits well to the child's face. The duration of inhalations for adults can vary from 2 to 7 minutes.

At the end of the procedure, the inhalation solution may remain in the inhaler. It cannot be used again, however, as well as storing a freshly prepared solution for more than half an hour. After inhalation, the remaining solution is disposed of, and the device itself is thoroughly washed with water. But it must be said that inhalations will be more effective if the entire prescribed dose of solution is used up during the procedure.

Any treatment should have its safe period, so readers may have a legitimate question: how many days should you inhale Berodual for bronchitis? The duration of treatment with Berodual is not specified in the instructions. However, doctors do not prescribe inhalations with this drug for more than 5 days for children under 6 years of age. As for adults, everything is strictly individual.

If we are talking about an acute course of pathology, then Berodual for bronchitis can be prescribed for a period of 5 to 14 days, depending on the severity of the patient's condition. But it should be taken into account that the drug can cause addiction, and it may be necessary to increase the single dose in the middle of the therapeutic course.

When it comes to the treatment of chronic obstructive bronchitis, the use of the drug is advisable only during periods of exacerbation. Such symptomatic (course) treatment helps to avoid the negative impact of the drug on the body during long-term treatment, and also solves the problem of addiction to the drug.

It should be said that quite often doctors prescribe inhalations with other bronchodilators (Lazolvan, Ambrobene, etc.) in parallel with Berodual. Inhalations with a nebulizer for bronchitis with Lazolvan, Berodual, and saline solution imply a step-by-step procedure. First, inhalations with Berodual and saline solution are done, which helps to expand the bronchi, but can cause increased coughing, and then after about half an hour, you can inhale Lazolvan solution, which will soften the effect of Berodual and, as an effective bronchodilator with a mild effect, will reduce the viscosity of sputum and help it to be removed more easily.

There is also a recipe for inhalations that allows you to mix all 3 drugs in one inhalation. In this case, Lazolvan and saline are taken in the amount of 2 ml, and Berodual is used in only 0.5 ml (10 drops). In principle, these drugs can be mixed because they both have a bronchodilator effect. But still, doctors recommend adhering to the first treatment regimen, when Berodual expands the bronchi and prepares the ground for Lazolvan to work. The effect of such treatment is much better than using Berodual alone.

"Berodual" for children

This is what concerns mothers, but what about children? "Berodual" in the form of a solution for inhalation for bronchitis in children can be prescribed at any age. It is understandable that parents are concerned when this potent drug is prescribed to an infant. But you need to understand the danger that obstructive disease poses to a child's body. Due to a sudden spasm of the bronchi, the child will begin to choke, various organs and systems of the baby can suffer from a lack of oxygen, which will negatively affect its development. And inhalations with "Berodual" allow you to quickly relieve spasm of the muscles of the respiratory system and give the child the opportunity to breathe normally.

Moreover, if the disease is not actively treated in early childhood, it quickly becomes chronic, because the immune system of children is not yet sufficiently formed for the body to cope with the disease on its own. It is clear that the chronic inflammatory process increasingly worsens the functioning of the bronchi, makes them more susceptible to the negative impact of environmental factors and certain substances produced in the body itself, which provokes spasms of the bronchi. In this case, they talk about chronic bronchial obstruction.

Weight loss is likely to be the least of the evils that untreated bronchitis can cause. And it is unlikely to be less of an evil than the negative impact of the medication on the child's body.

For infants with bronchitis, the same adult solution "Berodual" is used, only a smaller dose of the drug is dripped into the inhalation composition. A spray with the same name is allowed to be used to treat children after they reach 6 years of age.

Use of berodual for bronchitis during pregnancy

The most honorable appointment of a woman is the birth of a new life. At the same time, the health of the unborn baby depends primarily on its mother. Any illness in a woman during this period will negatively affect the child, which means that waiting for the same bronchitis to go away on its own is quite reckless.

But the treatment of a pregnant woman requires more caution than the therapy of patients who are not in a delicate position. After all, many drugs can harm the fetus in the womb, causing various developmental pathologies or provoking premature births and miscarriages. Therefore, the choice of drugs during pregnancy is limited, as are the possibilities of their use.

The use of Berodual during pregnancy is also somewhat limited. In the first trimester of pregnancy, when virtually all organs and systems of the fetus are being formed and the risk of miscarriage is especially high, any treatment, even local inhalation, can be dangerous. For this reason, Berodual is not recommended for use in the treatment of bronchitis or other obstructive pathologies in expectant mothers up to the 4th month of pregnancy.

But that's not all. By affecting the smooth muscles of the bronchi, some of the drug can penetrate into the blood plasma and reduce the contractility of the uterus, which is undesirable on the eve of childbirth. Therefore, in the third trimester of pregnancy, doctors can prescribe the drug only as a last resort and in a small dosage with all necessary caution.

After the birth of the baby, a caring mother will prefer to breastfeed the child, because it is breast milk that helps children develop strong immunity. But what if the mother is diagnosed with obstructive bronchitis? The instructions do not prohibit the use of Berodual during lactation. And yet it is better to refrain from breastfeeding during these 5 days (and this is how long the treatment with the drug usually lasts), offering the baby high-quality milk formulas or at least whole cow's milk.

Contraindications

The use of Berodual for bronchitis and other reversible obstructive pathologies of the respiratory system without a doctor's prescription is associated with a certain risk. The fact is that there are a number of pathologies in which inhalations with Berodual are dangerous to the patient's health and life. But there are also diseases that may require special conditions for using the drug.

If treatment with a drug for a certain disease carries a high risk to human health, this disease or condition of the body is considered a contraindication to the use of this drug. Regarding the solution and spray called "Berodual", such contraindications are:

  • Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, which is an irreversible condition and is not treated with bronchodilators.
  • Tachyarrhythmia, in which the heart rate is increased, and inhalations only complicate the situation.
  • Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug (an absolute contraindication to their use, common to all drugs, associated with the risk of severe anaphylactic reactions that threaten human life).
  • For the same reason, the drug is not prescribed if an intolerance reaction has been observed in the past with respect to atropine and drugs with similar effects.

Now let's talk about those pathologies, the use of "Berodual" in which can cause various complications, so the drug should be prescribed with special caution (it may be necessary to adjust the dose or perform the procedure under the supervision of a doctor with various measurements and tests).

Caution in prescribing therapy and increased attention to patients may be required if Berodual is used in the treatment of patients:

  • with severe disorders of the heart and blood vessels: hypertension, heart defects, acute and chronic heart failure, cardiac ischemia, post-infarction period (within 3 months), etc.,
  • with closed-angle glaucoma,
  • with metabolic diseases and thyroid disorders: diabetes mellitus types 1 and 2, impaired production of thyroid hormones (hyperthyroidism),
  • with damage to peripheral and coronary arteries,
  • in case of bladder neck obstruction,
  • as well as in cystic fibrosis, prostate adenoma, pheochromocytoma, during pregnancy and lactation.

As we can see, the drug "Berodual", which is effective against bronchitis, is not a completely safe medicine if it is taken without taking into account existing pathologies, as happens when a patient prescribes a medicine for himself without consulting a doctor.

Side effects of berodual for bronchitis

We have sorted out a little about the contraindications and features of the use of the drug "Berodual" in obstructive pathologies and the prevention of bronchospasm in different groups of patients. I would like to hope that in the future no one will want to use the drug without a doctor's prescription and taking into account the contraindications.

Unfortunately, even taking these points into account does not save some patients from unpleasant symptoms that may accompany drug therapy and are associated with individual characteristics of the body. Such symptoms, called side effects of drugs, may occur with varying frequency and not always. Everything depends on the patient's body.

The drug may have many side effects, but those that are observed with a frequency of more than 5-10% are always limited. For the drug "Berodual", such effects include:

  • increased cough (usually due to the production of a large amount of sputum, irritation of the mucous membrane or an allergic reaction to the drug),
  • headaches and dizziness,
  • nausea and a feeling of dryness in the mucous membranes of the mouth, and sometimes even vomiting,
  • hearing impairment,
  • increased heart rate,
  • increased nervous excitability and irritability,
  • tremor,
  • inflammation of the oral mucosa.

But the drug has side effects that are observed less frequently than those described above, but they should not be ignored either, in order to understand what you may encounter during treatment. Different organs and systems of the body may react to the administration of the drug in their own way.

The immune system can show a negative attitude towards the drug through various allergic and anaphylactic reactions against the background of previously undetected sensitivity to the components of the drug.

The effect of the drug on metabolism is occasionally manifested in a decrease in the level of potassium in the body ( hypokalemia ).

The visual organs may also malfunction during Berodual therapy for bronchitis and other pathologies of the respiratory system, which will manifest itself in accommodation disorders and blurred vision, doubling of visible objects, development of glaucoma, increased intraocular pressure, redness and swelling of the conjunctiva of the eyes.

Cardiovascular and respiratory system: possible increase in heart rate, heart rhythm disturbances, development of myocardial ischemia, irritation and swelling of the mucous membrane of the mouth, pharynx and larynx, spasm of the muscles of the bronchi and pharynx, change in the timbre of the voice.

Rarely, other symptoms may occur: bowel and urination disorders, the appearance of blisters on the mucous membrane of the mouth and lips (stomatitis), weakness or muscle spasms, etc.

It is important to understand that the frequency of these symptoms is very low, and all changes in the functioning of organs are usually reversible. However, it is necessary to notify the doctor about the occurrence of any side effects of the drug, and he will decide whether the drug should be discontinued or it is enough to simply adjust its dosage.

Overdose

All potent drugs require strict adherence to the dosage and treatment regimen prescribed by the doctor. Independently increasing the dose of the drug or the duration of its use is fraught with the occurrence of an overdose phenomenon, which usually manifests itself in the form of increased intensity of side effects.

In case of overdose of Berodual, there may be marked tachycardia, strong heartbeat, blood pressure surges, hand tremors, hot flashes to the head with a feeling of heat in the face, dry mouth mucous membranes, blurred vision. A reverse reaction with the development of severe bronchospasm may also occur.

It turns out that high doses can not only fail to help the situation, but also complicate it. In case of drug overdose, symptomatic therapy is carried out, sedatives and antidepressants are prescribed. In severe cases, treatment (resuscitation) is recommended to be carried out in a hospital setting, where the person will remain under the supervision of doctors for some time.

It is important to remember that bronchitis treatment should be comprehensive. In parallel with Berodual inhalations, anti-inflammatory and antibiotic therapy is carried out (if the cause of the disease is an infection), antihistamines are prescribed (if we are talking about the allergic nature of the disease), immunostimulants, vitamins.

Interactions with other drugs

The drug "Berodual", so often prescribed by doctors for chronic obstructive bronchitis, is a potent drug that can interact with other drugs. And such interactions are not always beneficial.

If, for example, Berodual is used together with Lazolvan or Ambrobene, the treatment will be more successful, since these drugs have a similar effect and do not reduce each other's effectiveness. The effect of the drug is enhanced by drugs with beta-adrenergic and anticholinergic components. But it is important to understand that not only the bronchodilator effect can be enhanced, but also the likelihood and intensity of side effects

However, simultaneous therapy with Berodual and beta-blockers may lead to a decrease in the effectiveness of the bronchodilator.

Diuretics and xanthine derivatives in the treatment of bronchitis with Berodual may increase the likelihood of hypokalemia. This is especially dangerous with long-term treatment with the drug. Patients with severe obstructions are at risk of developing arrhythmia against this background, especially if they are taking Digoxin in parallel.

When prescribing a drug as potent as Berodual, you should always remember to be careful. Any medications you are taking should be reported to your doctor before you start using the bronchodilator.

Storage conditions

In addition, this medicine does not require any special storage conditions. It easily tolerates heat up to 30 degrees, but it is recommended to protect it from direct sunlight. Caution should be exercised if there are small children in the house who may use the medicine for other purposes. And even if the child was prescribed the medicine by a doctor, parents should monitor the child's use of the spray or inhalation, explain to their child the dangers of improper use of the drug, and teach self-discipline.

Shelf life

Berodual should be used for chronic obstructive bronchitis for a long time in short courses to achieve remission. In this case, an understandable question may arise: how long can such a drug be stored? The shelf life of the drug is quite long. The drug remains effective and relatively safe for 5 years.

Reviews of the drug

The fact that Berodual is prescribed more often than other drugs for obstructive bronchitis and other pathologies associated with reversible obstruction of the airways speaks for itself. Doctors and pharmacists trust the drug, which means it is truly effective.

How safe the drug is can be judged by the age at which it is prescribed to children. Inhalations with a nebulizer for bronchitis "Berodual" and saline solution can be prescribed to a baby, which means its effectiveness exceeds the health risk. In addition, references to side effects of the drug are very rare, which indicates its good tolerability.

The drug owes its good reviews to its speed of action. According to many reviews, relief comes almost immediately. Sputum begins to separate easily, breathing becomes easier, wheezing disappears. In most cases, treatment with the drug lasted from 3 to 5 days, given that doctors prescribed inhalations with Berodual 2 times a day for children and 3 times a day for adult patients.

Another drug that a therapist or pediatrician may prescribe for bronchitis and pulmonary obstruction is Pulmicort. The question arises, which is better for bronchitis, Berodual or Pulmicort?

Yes, the indications for use of the drugs include the same pathologies, so they can be equally prescribed by a doctor. But you need to understand that these are not equivalent drugs. "Pulmicort", which contains one active substance, is famous for its anti-inflammatory effect, due to which the number of asthma attacks decreases and the likelihood of bronchospasm decreases. "Berodual" also has some anti-inflammatory effect, but the main emphasis of the two-component drug is on expanding the bronchi due to their relaxation and facilitating the removal of sputum.

The advantages of Pulmicort are:

  • a small number of contraindications (it is not prescribed in case of individual intolerance to the drug),
  • good tolerability and lack of addiction during long-term treatment,
  • relative mildness of side effects: irritation of the mucous membrane, rarely - thrush in the mouth in children, which is prevented by rinsing the mouth after the procedure, increased excitability, mild allergic reactions in the form of itching or rash.

The positive properties of Berodual include:

  • a rapid effect, which is expected within the first 15 minutes (with Pulmicort treatment, you will have to wait about an hour before improvement occurs),
  • long-lasting and persistent effect, which implies a reduction in the therapeutic course,
  • the presence of a spray form of release, which serves as first aid for patients with bronchial asthma, stopping an incipient attack,
  • long shelf life, which allows you to use the bottle or spray for a long time, which is important for a course of treatment for chronic pathologies.

Both drugs are used for inhalation in a nebulizer. Both Berodual in the form of a solution and Pulmicort can be prescribed by doctors to children from the first days of their life. Both drugs are potent drugs.

When choosing one of two effective drugs, doctors first of all focus on the patient's condition. "Brodual" acts quickly and for a long time, which is very useful in the case of an impending attack of bronchial asthma and obstructive diseases of the respiratory system, when urgent help is required. But it has many contraindications and side effects, so this medicine is prescribed to children only in the most severe cases.

In case of severe cough and mild obstruction, when breathing is slightly difficult, you can try to relieve inflammation with Pulmicort, which will prevent complications and make the cough less painful. In any case, the choice always remains with the doctor, who decides which drug is more effective individually in each specific case.

"Berodual" for bronchitis is a quick and effective help, as well as prevention of a life-threatening and health-threatening condition. Using the drug as prescribed by the doctor, you can quickly relieve painful symptoms and return to a full life of a healthy person.
