Allergy to ticks is becoming rampant in the modern world. Home dust is considered to be the most common factors that cause allergies. It consists of elements of fibers, wool of pets, peeled fragments of human epithelium, spores of microorganisms, food particles and cockroaches. Of the known allergens, the most harmful products are the products of the life of a dust mite.

What is an allergy to ticks?

Approximately 150 varieties of dust mites have been found, preferring moist, darkened and warm corners of living quarters. Dust mites of the genus Dermatofogoides of the genus farine and pteronyssinus are the most common domestic mites. And the mite "Farina" is resistant to low humidity of the premises. About 80% of the total number of ticks causing allergies are precisely the varieties of "pharynx" and "pteronissinus", preferring master beds, carpets. Allergy to ticks mites and pteronissinus mite - the immune response of the body to the form of excretory secretions of dust mites, which include: skins of larvae, secretion of the lateral glands and excreta.

How does an allergy to dust mites manifest?

Allergic reaction - the immune response of the body, aimed at protecting against foreign substances or allergens. Thanks to the immune system, antibodies that produce the hormone "histamine" are produced. It is because of the increase in the level of histamine in the body that there is a reaction called an allergic reaction. Manifestations of it are sneezing, cough, lacrimation, sinusitis, various dermatitis, difficulty breathing and even bronchial asthma.

It should be noted that allergy to ticks occurs only in people with a genetic predisposition to it. Among the variety of dust mites, allergies are caused by mites of the species Dermatophagoides (from Latin - "devouring the skin").

An allergy to a tick bite, or rather a response of the immune system to its vital activity causes irritation, itching, redness or swelling of the skin. In fact, dust mites are not able to bite and are not bloodsucking. They are saprophytes, that is, lifelong companions of man and live in each of us, feeding on the scrapes of horny epithelium.

The final diagnosis of "allergy to ticks" can only be done by a doctor. If you celebrate the incessant cough, nasal congestion, it is difficult for you to breathe in the mornings, then this is a serious reason to ponder. Do not forget that allergic rhinitis can lead to severe consequences - asthma, the appearance of polyps, the development of other forms of allergies. Watch your body's reaction in the conditions of maximum dust formation (sweeping, resting the bed, knocking out carpets). If you become worse, it is important to be examined and undergo special testing, to identify the allergen, which will allow to determine allergy to ticks.

How much dust mite is dangerous for humans?

Microscopic arthropods are hidden from the naked eye, to consider dust mites is possible only with the help of a microscope. Their dimensions range from 0.1 to 0.5 mm. The tick can be contained from one hundred to several thousand in one gram of dust. The air in the room contains fragments of dead dust mites, their fecal particles representing the maximum danger for allergy sufferers. Immune in the air, they do not settle for a long time and fall into the human respiratory system.

Allergies to a home tick can be seasonal. The quantitative content of a dust mite depends on the microclimate in the house, as well as the region in which you live. The most favorite mite's refuge is the bed where the best conditions for the life of the microorganism are created - a temperature of 20-25 ° C with a humidity of 75%. In your double bed, in addition to you sleep, eat and even defecate up to two million dust mites. It is not surprising that in the morning the most pronounced allergy to bed tick. This can cause wild itching, redness, skin swelling, or a rash.

Long-term studies have revealed a peak period of dust mite concentration - this is a summer-autumn season lasting from the end of August to the end of October. Before the appointment of treatment is recommended to determine the number of allergens, which is measured by the content of the pathogen in one gram of dust. If the tick count exceeds 100 units, a thorough cleaning of the room should be carried out to reduce the risk factor. The content of 1500-2000 individuals can lead to the development of chronic diseases. The amount of dust mite, exceeding 500 units, can cause an asthma attack in genetically predisposed individuals to atopy.

Allergy to house dust mites can be prevented by timely self-assessment of the contamination of the premises with the help of special test systems. There are also environmental organizations that carry out house checks for the presence of dust mites.

Treatment of dust mite allergy

Relief of the allergic condition and treatment of allergy to ticks are provided by medications. Antihistamines can remove swelling and inflammatory reaction, the list of side effects is minimized. Modern medications such as "telphast", "erius" are not toxic to the liver, do not cause drowsiness.

"Telfast" in the form of tablets is available at 30, 120, 180 mg. Children 6-11 years old take 1 tablet (30 mg) twice a day, adults and children over 12 years - 1 tablet (120, 180 mg) once a day. Assign with seasonal allergies, for the treatment of chronic urticaria, allergies to ticks.

"Erius" is presented by syrup and tablets. Take pills need not chewing, strictly at one time, without binding to food intake. For children over 12 years of age and adults, the medication dose is 5 mg / day. Syrup is used in the treatment of children and adults, it can be washed down with a small amount of water. The daily norm is: for the age of 1-5 years - 2.5 ml (1.25 mg), 6-11 years - 5 ml (2.5 mg), children over 12 and adults - 10 ml (5 mg). It alleviates allergic conditions of the respiratory tract, it is used to eliminate skin allergy on ticks.

"Aquamaris", "saline" based on sea salt are safe even for infants, used to combat allergies to ticks and other allergens.

The therapeutic effect of the nasal spray "Aquamaris" is achieved at the following dosages:

  • for the age from 1 to 7, 2 injections are prescribed for each nasal canal 3-4 p / d;

  • give preference to vacuum cleaners with HEPA filters, wet vacuuming can be done only with the use of anti-allergic, acaricidal additives;
  • use ozonizers, air purifiers of the photocatalytic type or with an ultraviolet lamp, capable of significantly reducing the colony of the tick and thereby reducing the manifestations of allergy to ticks;
  • keep the humidity of the room not more than 50%;
