Alexei Alekseevich Suvorin, a Russian emigrant, followed the long-term method of fasting (until the language was completely cleansed). He also did not have a medical education (he was a historian and philologist), but he was fascinated by various methods of improving the human body, many of which, by the way, he tested on himself.

It is difficult to say how long this amazing person could live, if not for the tragic death at the age of 75 years. He starved for 10, 37, 39.5, 40, 54 days. And in his book “Medical Fasting” he told about amazing real cases of prolonged fasting for 52, 62 and even 65 days, after which people not only did not say goodbye to life, but, on the contrary, became more active. This once again confirms the theory of Yu.S. Nikolaeva is about the great opportunities and reserves of our organism, which is not for nothing considered to be a biologically reliable system.

It must be said that Alexey Suvorin did not adhere to a certain period of fasting, considering this a purely individual matter. He even introduced a separate concept into the practice of hunger treatment - full-term fasting. So he called the procedure, during which there was a complete cleansing of the body, which could be judged by the disappearance of the plaque on the language, which in the process of fasting changed its color and properties. Immediately after this, according to Suvorin, appetite is restored, by which he meant not just the need for food, but also the feeling of her taste, the enjoyment of food, as well as the internal control of the amount of food eaten. If fasting is completed prematurely, the food will seem tasteless to the person and will be swallowed with difficulty.

The idea of medical fasting for Suvorin is essentially close to the classical method of wet fasting, but it does not outline fasting periods, which are always individual and depend on slagging of the body, the fatness of the patient and the rate of metabolic processes occurring in his body.

Refusal to eat, according to Suvorin, is due to the need to keep open the upper path of purification (upper GI tract) and prevent the penetration of "debris" accumulated in the body into the lower paths of purification. But the lower paths (intestines) are the main container of the so-called garbage, therefore Suvorin believes that a complete cleaning of the body is impossible without cleansing the intestines, therefore, on the eve of fasting, he, like many others, advises to take a saline laxative or replace it with vaseline oil or, in extreme cases, a decoction of laxative herbs.

Fasting technique

Starting fasting for Suvorin should be a couple of days after the transition to the dairy-vegetable diet. On the eve, a light breakfast and lunch are recommended, and for dinner instead of food you will need to take a laxative. The next morning the patient needs to put an enema (using the Esmarkh mug and 1.5-2 liters of clean warm water). Suvorin sees the need for enemas not in cleansing the intestines (this makes a laxative), but in replenishing the body's water supply.

After cleaning the intestine, you need to clear the stomach by drinking 0.5-1 liters of warm water and causing vomiting by pressing on the root of the tongue.

This method of cleansing is suitable for those who have no problems with the intestines. Otherwise, do not take a laxative, but on the first and second day 3 times do an enema. On the third day they clean the stomach and in the evening they put on an enema again.

During a fast, Suvorin leaves only water in the diet, but recommends reducing the amount of water you drink to the minimum (enemas do the rest, which should be put on a daily basis). Mandatory everyday procedures are also brushing your teeth and tongue, gastric lavage, morning exercises from 10 exercises for 10 repetitions. Laxative should be taken every other day 2-3 hours before bedtime after an enema.

Additionally A.A. Suvorin recommends walking (at least 6 km a day) with rhythmic breathing, massage (active rubbing of the body and limbs), weighing 1 time in 2 days. But from the medication, he categorically requests to refrain.

To avoid a hungry psychosis and a patient’s deterioration when fasting for more than 30 days, Suvorin recommends drinking ½ cup of tea with honey and wine 2-3 times a week.

Suvorin, like Marvah Ohanian, considers the release of mucus and pus from the respiratory and digestive tracts to be a positive symptom, which, in his opinion, indicates the opening of the upper cleansing ways. This is not a reason to abandon starvation, but on the contrary should have an encouraging effect.

As for fasting periods, here you need to focus on your health and the degree of purity of the language. Pure red tongue and appetite indicates cleansing of the body and its readiness for recovery. However, according to the author of the book “Medical Fasting”, it is better to over-treat than undernourish, because in the latter case, the cleansing processes will smolder in the body, poisoning it. So even with appetite, it is better to abstain from food for 1-2 weeks.

However, in some cases, it is better to stop fasting before the tongue is completely cleansed, if the patient's well-being has deteriorated significantly, double vision or severe weakness does not allow getting up from bed for 2-3 days.

Exit fasting

Exit fasting A.A. Suvorin understands their own way. He throws back the idea that the fasting continues in the recovery period, and argues that the digestive processes in the body are restored along with the first familiar food. That is, this is no longer a medical procedure, but a return to the usual regimen.

Suvorin suggests restoring the scheme:

  • the first 2 days - carbohydrate food,
  • 3rd and 4th day - food consisting of dairy and vegetable proteins, plus carbohydrates,
  • 5-9 days - vegetable fats are added to the above products,
  • 10 and the next days - meat food is added, starting from 10-15 g per day (only with a big desire).

Before each meal Suvorin advises to clean the mouth by chewing stale black bread with onions or a slice of apple. Chewed gruel must be wiped well all in the mouth and spit out, trying not to swallow a drop. Excessive saliva will help clean the mouth.

To stimulate the bowels in the first 3-4 days after fasting, you need to drink a decoction of wormwood (1 sip before meals) and put an enema daily, take a warm bath before going to bed and rub the body with heated olive oil. To restore the beneficial microflora in the body, which, during the purification process by hunger, is eliminated from the body along with the pathogenic one, Suvorin recommends taking drugs of lactic and bifidobacteria. The last meal should be no later than 19 hours.

To consolidate the result of full starvation, A. Suvorin insists on repeating 5-day refusal courses every month and suggests, if possible, remove meat, butter, salt, sugar, vinegar, and fatty liquids from the diet. But salads from fresh vegetables and fruits are welcome.
