Alcohol for gastritis

Everyone has probably noticed that after drinking alcohol, appetite increases significantly and much more food is eaten than usual. This is explained by the aggressive effect of alcohol on the gastric mucosa and its irritation as a result, causing increased secretion of hydrochloric acid. Such a reaction prohibits alcohol for gastritis, but is there an exception to the rule, because becoming an absolute teetotaler, not taking a sip on special dates and events is not in our traditions?
Is it possible to drink alcohol if you have gastritis?
The acute phase of gastritis generally excludes the use of any alcoholic beverages. In the remission stage, regular access to a glass is unacceptable, but occasionally, once or twice a month, a small portion of quality alcohol can still be drunk, but with certain reservations:
- alcohol for gastritis with high acidity - any alcoholic beverages from strong to low-alcohol contain ethyl alcohol. It enters the blood through the walls of the stomach, spreading through the bloodstream, causing intoxication. How quickly this happens and to what extent depends on the strength, the presence of artificial additives, carbon dioxide, volume, whether it was drunk on an empty stomach or not, whether it was eaten with something.
Alcohol on an empty stomach with gastritis with high acidity will cause great harm to the mucous membrane of the organ, in addition, it reduces the production of enzymes necessary for the processing of fatty foods, which often accompany feasts. The stomach suffers doubly from this, the food lump lingers in it longer, stagnation and fermentation occur. In order to reduce the harm of alcohol with gastritis, it is necessary to eat light food beforehand, not to skimp on its quality, and to observe moderation;
- alcohol for gastritis with low acidity - it would seem that this is the very way out, capable of increasing the production of gastric juice. In fact, everything is not so. The gastric mucosa is inflamed due to the lack of hydrochloric acid, and therefore the impossibility of destroying the pathogenic flora coming with food. The stimulating effect of alcohol intensifies this process. Therefore, the rules for drinking alcohol for hyperacid gastritis are valid in this case as well;
- alcohol for gastritis and ulcers - gastritis without proper treatment and diet is often accompanied by peptic ulcer disease - the formation of defects on the inner wall of the stomach. They are characterized by both periods of exacerbation and remission. In the first case, alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited, in the second, some types are allowed within reasonable limits.

What alcohol can you drink if you have gastritis?
When analyzing different types of alcohol to understand which ones can be drunk with gastritis, cheap, sparkling, fortified wines, energy cocktails, canned beer, carbonated drinks, and various surrogates are definitely rejected. What alcohol is the safest for gastritis? Gastroenterologists are lenient about small doses:
- expensive red dry or semi-sweet grape wine - it is a good antiseptic, contains vitamins C, B, antioxidants, amino acids, microelements necessary for normalizing digestion processes;
- whiskey for gastritis is a strong alcoholic drink obtained from various grains: barley, rye, wheat or corn. After malting, fermentation and distillation, it undergoes long-term aging in oak barrels. The drink receives the right to be called "whiskey" after a minimum of three years of aging. Its permissible dose for gastritis is 50g;
- cognac for gastritis - a quality drink during the period of remission has the right to appear no more than 1-2 times a month during the period of attenuation of the disease. This is a product of processing white grape varieties, and the proportion of ethyl alcohol in it is 40%. It is also stored for at least 2 years before bottling in oak containers, which saturates it with tannins, lignins, a small amount of amino acids, oils, resins;
- vodka is also on the list of acceptable for gastritis. It is most often preferred for this pathology, if there is a need or just a desire to drink. Of course, we are talking about certified products, and not "homemade", which can poison you. There are even methods for treating gastritis with vodka. The authorship of one of them belongs to Nikolai Shevchenko. He suggests taking a mixture of unrefined sunflower oil with 40% vodka to get rid of various diseases, including inflammation of the mucous membrane. Mix 30 g of each in one container, shake vigorously for 5 minutes and drink. The oil has a high content of linoleic acid, vitamin E, phosphates. Take this treatment three times a day 20 minutes before meals for 10 days, repeat after a 5-day break and so on until complete recovery;
- unfiltered beer for gastritis - German scientists have conducted studies that confirm the usefulness of such a drink for this pathology. It is made from barley, which helps restore the mucous membrane, the hops in it have analgesic properties and soften the effect of alcohol on the organ. The beer drink slows down the growth of bacteria, removes excess salts and acids. In addition, this variety is not subject to artificial clarification, heat exposure, its shelf life is no more than a week, which indicates its naturalness. Despite these characteristics, it cannot be drunk more than 0.33 liters per week for gastritis.
