Douching during pregnancy is a special treatment process during which the vagina is washed with medications. It can be prescribed by a gynecologist to get rid of internal inflammatory and female genital tract infections. Douching treatment is often used for various reasons, including to cure infections during pregnancy. The fact is that expectant mothers are often bothered by thrush throughout pregnancy, and the use of pharmacy medications during this period of life is extremely undesirable. The expectant mother is responsible not only for herself, but also for the health of her child, so she must understand the need to treat infectious diseases.
Douching is a simple procedure, but in any case, you need to know how to do it correctly so as not to harm yourself or the child. Remember that this procedure should only be done on the recommendation of a qualified specialist, so as not to disrupt the vaginal microflora. There are several ways and recipes for preparing a liquid for douching in order to effectively cure an infection of the vagina and female genital tract.
Douching with soda during pregnancy
One of the most popular and virtually fail-safe means of alleviating the symptoms of candidiasis and accelerating the treatment process is simple baking soda. This product is often used in medicine and has virtually no side effects or contraindications. You can also take it at any stage of the disease. The action of the solution is that after the procedure, the acid-base environment in the vagina changes, which reduces the development of pathogenic microorganisms, because, as is known, dangerous bacteria develop best in an environment with increased acidity of the mucous membranes.
To prepare a soda solution, take a glass of boiled water, which must be at room temperature, and dissolve a teaspoon of soda in it. Mix it thoroughly until completely dissolved, and then draw the prepared soda water into a syringe or large syringe, of course, without a needle. The procedure of introducing the liquid into the vagina should be carried out lying down so that the pelvis is slightly raised, the liquid itself should be in the vagina for about thirty seconds. After the procedure, it is advisable to lie down for about ten minutes and rest. Douching with soda during pregnancy is a fairly responsible procedure, because you need to be extremely careful so as not to harm either the baby or your body. During the period when drug treatment is almost impossible due to pregnancy, douching with soda is one of the effective means that will help relieve unpleasant symptoms such as itching and burning. Douching with soda is highly discouraged before visiting a gynecologist, as the altered acid-base balance will not allow the doctor to see the full picture of your health.
Chamomile douching during pregnancy
Douching with chamomile is a good auxiliary procedure against many diseases of the female genitourinary tract.
In case of thrush, douching with chamomile will relieve inflammatory processes of the skin and mucous membranes, which are provoked by the Candida fungus and are widely known to everyone as candidiasis or thrush. This disease, hated by many, can really be stopped by performing just a few douches with the help of a miraculous chamomile decoction. The reason for its effectiveness is that it contains organic substances called saponins, the action of which has a sedative and cleansing effect. When douching with a chamomile decoction, an alkaline reaction does not occur, and dryness and irritation are not caused.
In mild forms of cervical erosion caused by simple streptococci, douching with chamomile decoction can help, but in case of serious complications of this disease, unfortunately, the procedure is completely powerless.
In case of cystitis, warming baths are most often used, but the treatment procedure can also be supplemented with douching. In order to avoid the appearance of another source of infection, irrigation of the genitourinary tract with chamomile decoction is carried out.
To prepare a chamomile decoction for douching, take two tablespoons of dry inflorescences and a liter of water. Pour the herb into an enamel bowl and brew with boiling water, then put the bowl on low heat and bring the decoction to a boil. Let the mixture cool to thirty-eight degrees and strain through a gauze napkin, previously folded in four, and fill the syringe with it.
As with soda douching, the best position for the procedure is lying down. Before inserting the syringe, it is necessary to relax the vaginal muscles as much as possible. The decoction is inserted inside with extreme caution, do not press hard. Make sure that the contents of the syringe do not get into the uterine cavity, as this can cause new and even more serious inflammation or even complications. The entire prepared decoction is gradually introduced over the course of ten to fifteen minutes. Many doctors recommend performing the douching procedure in the evening just before going to bed.
Douching for unwanted pregnancy
According to statistics, douching reduces the chance of unwanted pregnancy by 15%. If you had unprotected sex, sooner or later you will think about the consequences, think about whether you are ready to continue your family line, whether your current situation allows you to do this, whether the child will have a caring father, and so on. Do not panic, because thoughts about the future are one of the features of our brain, associated with its analytical abilities. In order to protect yourself from an unplanned pregnancy in this case, you can wash yourself with warm water and douche with a spermicidal solution, which includes water at room temperature with a few drops of lemon. Extreme caution is required when performing the procedure, because improper douching can easily injure the vaginal mucosa and disrupt its microflora.
Vinegar douching for pregnancy
Using vinegar as a means for douching against unwanted pregnancy is a folk method that has long been the cause of controversy among many experts due to its ambiguous effect. Folk recipes for pregnancy say that vinegar is added to a liter of boiled warm water in the amount of two tablespoons, and this solution is used for douching the vagina immediately after intercourse. Such a procedure, if used frequently, can damage the mucous membrane with its acid and cause many infectious diseases, which will certainly lead to unpleasant consequences. This is a fairly large price to pay for the reluctance to use traditional contraception. Therefore, when deciding to use douching with a vinegar solution, remember that you take on great responsibility for the health of your internal organs, because improperly performing the procedure can provide you with a far from unpleasant trip in an ambulance to the hospital.
Chlorhexidine douching during pregnancy
Chlorhexidine solution is readily available in pharmacies. It is sold ready-made, so there is no need to dilute it. Take the usual douching position and insert the tip of the bottle into the vagina. Squeeze out a small amount of chlorhexidine, and then give it time to work. To do this, you will need to rest for a few minutes, lie down and not move. In order to avoid bacterial vaginosis, constant douching with this medicine is highly discouraged. Special suppositories can be an alternative to chlorhexidine. Douching with chlorhexidine during pregnancy is used only after consultation with a gynecologist. Very often, doctors do not recommend the use of chlorhexidine at all when a woman is preparing to become a mother. Douching with this medication often provokes allergic reactions.

Douching with Miramistin during pregnancy
Miramistin is a better analogue of chlorhexidine. It is a fairly effective antiseptic for local and internal use, which is used to eliminate bacterial and venereal infections. There are special kits of this drug that help to use it without a syringe. This antiseptic medication is used not only during pregnancy, but also before it, to protect the body from vaginal infections. But do not forget that it is still a chemical drug, so it should be used only on the recommendation of a doctor. Miramistin can also cause an allergic reaction, but only if there is an individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Douching with potassium permanganate during pregnancy
Douching with a solution of potassium permanganate is used as an aid in the treatment of inflammation of the female genital organs, as well as protection against unwanted pregnancy. However, it should be noted that the procedure of douching with a solution of potassium permanganate is not only an unreliable contraceptive, but can also lead to burns, disruption of the microflora of internal organs and the emergence of new bacterial diseases. Therefore, it is very important to observe the measure and follow the instructions strictly. To carry out the procedure, you need to make a 0.02-0.1% solution of potassium permanganate - this is approximately ten crystals of the drug. The color of the water should be barely pink, otherwise the procedure will harm you. No matter what they say about the miraculous antimicrobial effect of a solution of potassium permanganate, the fact remains - the effect is very short-term. You should always use only a fresh solution, and pregnant women are not at all advised to resort to such measures as douching with potassium permanganate.
Douching with hydrogen peroxide during pregnancy
Every woman who has heard, read or received advice about douching with hydrogen peroxide should know that biological processes in the vagina are aimed at performing protective functions and produce mucus, which removes all unnecessary elements and kills bacteria. If the vaginal microflora is in order, then it contains lactobacilli that produce hydrogen peroxide, maintaining an acidic environment in it, unsuitable for harmful microorganisms. And if the acid-base balance shifts to the alkaline side, then its development begins. With the correct dosage, douching with hydrogen peroxide will help you restore acidity, but everything must be done strictly according to the instructions:
For the vaginal irrigation procedure, use only boiled water, the ideal temperature of which is from 37 to 38 degrees. Then mix 100 ml of a three-percent solution of hydrogen peroxide with 300 ml of water. If a weaker solution is needed, add two tablespoons.
Douching is done as described earlier. Pour the resulting solution into the syringe and insert its tip into the vagina. When you squeeze the syringe, a stream of liquid enters the vagina. The procedure is performed for fifteen minutes. At first, douching is done twice a day, then every other day as the condition improves, and finally once or twice a week. The course of treatment consists of seven to ten procedures.

Douching in early pregnancy
Douching in early pregnancy is possible when sexual intercourse. However, the composition of the solutions is very important so that it does not harm the life that is emerging inside. Each woman perceives a particular type of douching differently, and there may be a number of warnings after some illness. The doctor must know all these facts about your health in order to prescribe the necessary manipulations for treatment.
Douching during pregnancy is a very serious procedure. When a woman is expecting a baby, especially in the early stages, she is prohibited from almost any medical intervention, as it can have a negative effect on the baby. Therefore, douching with herbal infusions or mild antibacterial agents can be a good alternative to medical intervention. But making an independent decision about douching can lead to serious complications in the body of the expectant mother, so a preliminary consultation with the observing gynecologist is so important. If there are any problems in your body, he will tell you how to get rid of them so as not to harm the child.
