Anaprilin (propranolol, obzidan, inderal). Anaprilin is a specific beta-blocker.
The drug is well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, and therefore it is quite suitable for oral administration. The optimal dose (the concentration of anaprilin in the blood after oral administration of the drug is determined in the range from 45 to 120 minutes. The half-life with intravenous administration is 60 minutes, with oral administration - 2 hours. About 90% of the drug is excreted in the urine in the form of metabolites.
Beta Blockers and Pregnancy
According to data obtained in recent years, anaprilin is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation. The drug crosses the placental barrier, and its use in early pregnancy does not lead to a teratogenic effect on the fetus. However, it has a toxic effect on the fetus. The introduction of anaprilin in doses of 240 mg / day during the first 4 months of pregnancy and 160 mg / day later leads to the fact that newborns in the first days of life experience depression, polycythemia, hypoglycemia and bradycardia. In addition, the drug can cause a decrease in uteroplacental blood flow and cause placental insufficiency due to a decrease in cardiac output in the mother. During labor, anaprilin can affect the fetal heartbeat.
Contraindications to the use of beta-blockers
Beta-blockers are contraindicated in bronchial asthma, marked slowing of atrioventricular conduction, heart failure, significant bradycardia, diabetic ketoacidosis and acidosis of other genesis. Circulatory failure is not a contraindication if beta-blockers are prescribed in combination with cardiac glycosides.
