Can Aloe in Pregnancy?

The question of using aloe during pregnancy is widely discussed, since this remedy is the number one remedy for colds. But other properties of this plant require attentiveness when it is prescribed to pregnant women.

Aloe - a plant that lives for several years and with age its useful properties only increase. This is due to the fact that all useful substances and vitamins are able to move into a more active form.

The chemical composition of aloe is a lot of vitamins, microelements and other useful biologically active substances, among which:

  • vitamins of group B, C, A, E;
  • amino acids;
  • carotenoids;
  • phytoncides;
  • tannins;
  • flavonoids;
  • calcium, phosphorus, chlorine, magnesium, zinc, bromine, iodine.

Such a rich composition contributes to the widespread use of aloe during pregnancy, but there are special indications to this. To increase the local immune status in the common cold, aloe juice is used very often, since in addition to pronounced anti-edematous effect, it also has bactericidal action. There are cases when aloe during pregnancy is applied to the inside - this is the first trimester of pregnancy, when early gestosis is expressed in the form of nausea and vomiting, as well as during breastfeeding to stimulate lactation. But one should be careful if this type of treatment is prescribed to pregnant women in the third trimester, since aloe also includes special substances - atraquinones, which have a pronounced effect on the muscles of the uterus and can provoke their premature contraction with a greater risk of premature birth. Especially, this applies to women at risk, who already have predispositions to such conditions, for example, with ischemic-cervical insufficiency.

There are also a number of other contraindications, when the use of aloe as a medicine for pregnant women requires an individual approach. Such conditions include a predilection for diarrhea, cholelithiasis with gallstones, hemorrhoids, inflammatory bowel diseases, urinary stone disease with renal colic in the anamnesis. These conditions are accompanied by the risk of complications, in case of excessive stimulation of smooth muscle muscles when using aloe.

Thus, when discussing the question of whether it is possible to have aloe during pregnancy, it is necessary to say that it is possible, but, as in the case with other medications, there are indications and contraindications, therefore, the question of using aloe during pregnancy should be differentiated, taking into account all the "for" and "against".

Some peculiarities of using aloe during pregnancy

Aloe is used not only during pregnancy, as a medicinal plant, but also in the treatment of infertility it is also widely used. This confirms the multifaceted and rich properties of aloe, which was used by our grandmothers. To date, aloe in the planning of pregnancy helps conceive a child as a result of pronounced tropic action on the reproductive system of a woman. Aloe has a pronounced anti-inflammatory effect and due to a variety of enzymes, it has the property of splitting adhesive processes. Thanks to this, eradication of many microorganisms and curing of latent infection of internal female genital organs is possible. Therefore, aloe is widely used, both for preventing complications with conception of a child, and for treating infertility. To do this, use injection forms of aloe, which are sold at the pharmacy.

The composition of this drug includes dry extract of aloe and physiological solution, is issued in ampoules of 1 milliliter. Such injections of aloe are used intramuscularly often with other components such as placental extract, a course of treatment of 10-15 days. It is better to dose the injections every other day. The use of such treatment stimulates the regeneration of damaged tissues by adhesive processes, improves egg movement through the fallopian tubes, and stimulates the regeneration and proliferation of the uterine endometrium for better implantation of the fertilized egg. Many women achieved good results in the treatment of infertility, using aloe in the complex treatment of this pathology.

The main methods of taking aloe are external application, internal and in the nose. Aloe during pregnancy in the early stages can be used in any form, in the absence of contraindications. This is due to the fact that the main concern in the form of preterm labor in case of using aloe is not justified. But we should not forget that with the threat of termination of pregnancy, aloe can not even be in the early stages. The main cases when using aloe in the early stages are early gestosis of pregnant women. Since aloe has anti-inflammatory, direct bactericidal, antimicrobial, immunostimulating action, and also affects the work of the gastrointestinal tract, this plant has a beneficial effect on the severity of toxicosis. It not only kills pathogenic microorganisms, but also activates the gastrointestinal tract and relieves irritation and hyperactivity of the intestine, so that nausea and vomiting decreases. This is the main application of aloe juice in pregnancy, which is directly related to this position of the woman.

Aloe vera during pregnancy is also applied topically - in the nasal cavity. This is not an opening, because this tool has been used for a long time, both for adults and for children. Aloe from a cold in pregnancy is used by instilling aloe juice on 1 drop of freshly squeezed solution into each nostril. Do not use aloe juice more often than 5 times a day, as this leads to addiction and the therapeutic effect disappears. You can prepare an alcohol tincture, which has a more pronounced effect in case of excessive secretion of mucus. To do this, a teaspoon of aloe juice should be mixed with a teaspoon of alcohol, this solution should be infused for several hours, then diluted in a ratio of one to one with warm boiled water and buried in the nose. If such a tincture too dries the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity, then it must be diluted with water. For the most pronounced effect, it is necessary to choose the right plant. The most pronounced immunostimulating effect is owned by a plant that is more than three years old. If you do not know exactly the age of aloe, then you need to take a sheet, the length of which is more than 15 centimeters and its tip is slightly dry. To make juice, you need to grind aloe finely or grind it in a blender and squeeze out the juice, then use it for the intended purpose. Keep the remaining solution in the refrigerator. Aloe is also widely used for coughing during pregnancy. To do this, make tea based on half a liter of boiled hot water, two tablespoons of honey and ten drops of fresh aloe juice. Aloe with honey during pregnancy treats not only a cough, but also promotes an increase in the immune status, while in pregnancy the condition of relative immunosuppression is observed.

Aloe vera during pregnancy is used, as already mentioned, in early terms to prevent or correct early gestosis, as well as to treat other diseases. These include peptic ulcer disease in the remission stage, acute and chronic gastritis - then the use of aloe vera juice stimulates the reparative processes and prevents the reproduction of opportunistic organisms, thus contributing to the normalization of the intestinal microflora.

Aloe with hemorrhoids during pregnancy, in general, as a remedy is contraindicated, but there are special features.

If you apply aloe in a period outside of exacerbation and corrected, then this treatment may well be effective, since aloe has an anti-inflammatory effect. In this case, it is better to apply aloe vera locally - make tampons from aloe and inject into the rectum for an hour. This method of use can reduce the systemic effect and prevent the development of possible complications.

External use of aloe during pregnancy is used in the case of late pregnancy gestosis in the form of dermatitis. Such allergic reactions often occur in the third trimester of pregnancy and are characterized by skin rashes and severe itching, so the use of aloe helps to reduce the local inflammatory reaction and at the expense of immunostimulating effect reduces the severity of allergization of the body.

Aloe vera during pregnancy should be used cautiously, because it is a drinking gel that is used inside and besides the above side effects, it can cause an increase in blood pressure and impaired glucose tolerance, so it is better not to use this remedy, but to confine yourself to an external local reception. That is, the use of such a concentrated drinking extract in pregnancy is better not to use, because there is no proven positive effect, and the risk of complications of pregnancy is quite high.

Aloe during pregnancy is a remedy that is widely used by women, both for the local treatment of the common cold and allergic skin rashes, and is applied internally. It should be remembered that, despite the rich composition of this plant, it has contraindications for use, especially when used inside. Therefore, before applying any medication, it is necessary to think about possible harm to the baby and consult with the doctor on an individual basis.
