To reduce the impact of ultraviolet radiation on the skin, you can use creams, lotions, oils, and sunscreen masks.
For many, tanning, especially in the summer months, becomes a major problem. Under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, the level of melanin in the skin increases, which makes its color darker. Some, due to the nature of their professional activities, have to spend a long time under the open rays of the sun, which leads to an intense tan.
Tanning is a result of the skin's fight against ultraviolet radiation. When the skin tone acquires a beautiful golden hue, it means that the skin has coped well with its functions, but when redness, burns, and soreness of the skin appear, damage to skin cells appears, which leads to premature aging.
Tanned skin began to be considered a sign of health and beauty only at the beginning of the 20th century, after scientists proved the benefits of sunlight, which is necessary for the synthesis of vitamin D, which helps strengthen bone tissue. However, excessive tanning not only spoils the skin externally (redness, pigmentation, peeling, etc.), but also significantly increases the risk of developing malignant skin tumors.
In people with fair skin, under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, the level of folic acid in the blood quickly decreases, which is important for hematopoiesis, DNA synthesis, spermatogenesis, etc. For this reason, doctors recommend abstaining from direct sunlight in the first weeks of pregnancy.
But it is not only pregnant women and fair-skinned people who need to limit their sun exposure; this applies to people of any age and gender.
Sensitivity to ultraviolet radiation is individual and depends on a number of factors (mainly on skin type). People with light and red hair are at risk – they burn faster in the sun, and pigment spots appear on their skin. Dark-skinned people get a beautiful tan faster, while in most cases not getting sunburned.
It is recommended to use such protective equipment with the appearance of the first spring sun and, especially, in the summer months, when the skin's sensitivity to the sun's rays is highest.
Under the influence of the sun, the load on the antioxidant systems of the body increases, therefore, when choosing a sunscreen, give preference to those that contain antioxidants. But still, the priority when choosing sunscreens is UV filters that absorb or reflect ultraviolet light. The effectiveness of a sunscreen depends on the SPF factor, which will allow you to spend longer in the sun without exposing your skin to danger (burns).
Benefits of sunscreen mask
Tanning masks, when used regularly, restore skin damaged by sun rays.
Natural components included in the masks enhance the protective properties of the skin, restore damaged cells, promote the production of collagen, elastin, and some masks also have a lightening effect.
A sunscreen mask will help reduce the risk of malignant skin lesions, benign tumors, papillomas, and pigmentation.
Usually, under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, the skin becomes dry, irritated, and fine wrinkles appear on it. Sunscreen masks will help moisturize, soften the skin, and remove redness.
If your skin is burnt, you should not use masks with aggressive ingredients (lemon juice, cinnamon, mustard, etc.).
Before applying the mask to your face, you need to test a small amount on another tanned area of skin (on the wrist, elbow, etc.).
It is recommended to do any mask a few hours after tanning; before applying the mask, you should not steam the skin, as this will cause it to lose even more moisture.

Reviews of sunscreen masks
Sunscreen masks are quite an effective means of whitening the skin after prolonged exposure to the sun.
According to reviews, masks with lemon and cucumber have good whitening properties. However, when adding lemon, it is important not to dry out the skin even more, so after the masks, it is necessary to apply a nourishing and moisturizing cream to the skin.
Masks with milk, fermented milk products, honey – help restore skin smoothness, healthy color, eliminate fine wrinkles, nourish and moisturize.
