Indications for liposuction

The main indication for liposuction is the presence of local forms of obesity with a violation of the contours of the figure. The most common in women is the trophy-shaped deformity of the hips, which is created by fat "traps" located on the outer surface of the thighs. Less significant in size, but no less important in its effect on the thigh line are the fat "traps" located on the inner surface of the knee joint. These "traps", as a rule, are combined with fat deposits located in the area of the hip, pelvis, abdomen and flanks.

The main goal of the operation performed with local forms of obesity is to correct the contours of the figure. At the same time, when discussing with the patient the possible results of the hegeration, the surgeon should emphasize that the main task of the intervention is not to create an ideal figure, but to achieve a marked improvement in it but compared with the initial state.

In patients with significantly increased body weight requires a separate explanation of the fact that liposuction is aimed precisely at correcting the contours of the figure, and not to reduce body weight. The latter is achieved only to a certain extent, but is rather a logical consequence of the removal of a huge number of adipocytes than the purpose of the operation.

In the generalized form of obesity and the ineffectiveness of conservative treatments, one-stage or serial liposuction can give good results. Features are, first, that surgical treatment is directed not only (and often not so much) to improving the contours of the body, but also to reducing the patient's body weight. Secondly, this is achieved only when the operation is combined with conservative treatment, the effectiveness of which increases due to the removal during the intervention of a large number of fat cells. Thirdly, the results of combined treatment depend on many factors and are less predictable in comparison with the treatment of fatty "traps" in individuals with normal body weight. Accordingly, patients are more likely to be dissatisfied with the results of the operation, which should be taken into account when preparing them for liposuction.

Good results can be obtained by treating the lime with different localization and having a relatively small density.

For additional contour correction, liposuction can be used when performing other plastic operations. So, with abdominoplasty, this allows you to reduce the thickness of the fat layer of the anterior abdominal wall, strengthen the mobilization of flaps by tunneling their base with cannulas, and also perform one-stage fat removal in adjacent areas. With rejuvenating facial operations, an additional correction of the areas of fat hypertrophy that are outside the skin detachment zone is possible. Most often it is necessary in the lower jaw, submaxillary, zygomatic areas.

With fatty and mixed forms of mammary hypertrophy, the implementation of reduction mastopexy in combination with liposuction makes it possible to influence shape and volume more effectively, and also to achieve greater symmetry.

Performing a mastectomy in combination with liposuction in the treatment of gynecomastia allows the mammary gland to be resected through a relatively small paraareolar incision, and also to form the most natural transitional contour.

One of the problems of reconstructive surgery is the excess of the transplanted skin-fascial (muscle) flaps due to subcutaneous adipose tissue. In this case, 6 months after the transplant, liposuction of the flap can be performed, which is an effective method of correcting its contours.

The operation is performed under local anesthesia, and in the postoperative period for 6-8 weeks, bandage of the treated zone with elastic bandage is carried out.
