Onion for hair loss in men and women

A familiar vegetable that is present on our table every day is a wonderful cosmetic remedy. Women effectively use onion for hair to care for weakened, thinned, problematic braids. Men can thus not only prevent early baldness, but also restore the thickness of their hair.

Onion for hair loss in men and women renews the structure, accelerates growth, maintains a healthy appearance, provides beauty, treats dandruff and seborrhea. Phytoncides resist pathogenic fungi and bacteria, glycosides activate blood flow and supply of nutrients, vitamins increase local immunity, biologically active substances improve health and eliminate diseases.

The presence of hot compounds in the spicy vegetable forces you to observe the proportions of masks and precautions during the procedure. To avoid burns or allergies, onion juice in its pure form is used only occasionally, and in most recipes it is combined with softening or neutral components, which, in addition, enhance the desired effect on the skin and hair.

  • It is best to start the course during the harvest season, when there is plenty of fresh vegetables on the market. Before the first mask, sensitivity testing is recommended.

It is better not to wash your hair, and for additional effect, provide a thermal effect using polyethylene film and a towel. The duration depends on the condition of the hair: the drier it is, the shorter the time; on average, from 10 to 30 minutes.

Any variety is suitable for masks, even onion peel. According to the recipes, take the pulp or juice; as a rule, one onion is enough for one time.

Onion for hair growth

When your hair doesn't grow, breaks badly and becomes dull, turn to folk medicine. It was with its help that the beauties of old grew lush long braids, which were considered shameful to cut off. Today, long hair is also in trend, so it's time to remember the secrets of the beauties of the past. One of them is using onions for hair growth.

  • The effect of onions is due to the vitamins and minerals that this vegetable is literally filled with. They are easily digestible, provide nutrition, moisturizing of the skin and hair. Irritants improve blood flow, and this improves the delivery of useful components to the hair follicles.

Onion for hair is used both in pure form and in mixtures. One of the best compositions is onion, aloe, yolk and honey. For a teaspoon of onion juice take a tablespoon of honey and aloe juice, one fresh yolk. Rub into clean dry hair, keep under film and a towel for half an hour, rinse with warm water. It is useful to rinse hair with a decoction of husks, nettle. For the result, one session per week is enough.

  • You don't have to mix the juices, but apply them one by one: first the onion juice, and after 10 minutes - freshly squeezed aloe. Do this before washing your hair, and wash off with herbal infusions: mint, nettle, lemon balm, yarrow.

Onion gruel is also used to stimulate growth. It is easier to prepare, but more difficult to wash out of hair. You should also know that the smell of gruel lasts longer than that of juice. To prevent the smell, add banana or lemon juice, and to neutralize it, add essential oils, vinegar or citrus juice.

Onion for strengthening hair

There are more hair cosmetics today than ever before. However, it is difficult to find a girl or woman who is truly happy with her braids and who can boast of their beauty, thickness and strength. Usually, such beauties do not ignore the experience of mothers and grandmothers who use folk remedies, including onions, to strengthen hair. What is strength and what does it depend on?

  • Each hair is composed primarily of keratin, a protein with an elongated structure and super strength. In nature, only chitin, which is used to build the shells of various animals, is mechanically stronger.

The rest is water, lipids, pigments. On the outside, keratin is protected by a special shell - cuticle. It consists of scales arranged like tiles on a roof. Due to this structure, a healthy hair is flexible and elastic. If the body has enough keratin, then the hair is strong, does not break off and falls out within the normal range: 50-150 pieces per day.

Keratin is formed from components that the body receives from food, as well as locally, externally, with cosmetics and medicinal products. Onions for hair are most often used in the form of masks, separately or in more complex recipes. Not only pure juice or onion crushed into a gruel are suitable, but also the husk.

A balanced, vitamin-rich diet, healthy digestion, quality care, no bad habits, local application of natural ingredients – all this together guarantees the strength and silkiness of your hair.

Onion for hair thickness

Thick hair is every person's dream, but expensive shampoos are not always needed to make it come true. Nature has created enough effective and safe products to help people. Onions are especially useful for hair, acting in several directions.

Why is onion used for hair thickness? For several reasons.

  • The hot juice acts as an irritant, stimulating the hair follicles. Growth accelerates, hair becomes thicker.
  • Onion mass adds shine along the entire length of hair and prevents hair loss.
  • Acting on the skin, the mask moisturizes and softens it, eliminating dandruff.
  • Phytoncides destroy fungi and bacteria.

In case of intensive hair loss, make the following mask: dissolve a teaspoon of yeast in 2 tablespoons of warm water, leave for 10 minutes. Mix with the same amount of onion juice and a spoon of vegetable oil (olive, castor, burdock). Spread the mixture over the hair, leave for about an hour, then rinse.

  • Green feathers have the same power. A blender will help to grind them to a mushy consistency. The green mass is applied to the head, wrapped for an hour, and then washed off with water.

One of the ancient methods of caring for and growing thick hair is onion peel. It also gets rid of dandruff. Prepare a useful decoction in a water bath, apply to the head after cooling and filtering.

Benefits of onion for hair

Everyone interested in this topic has heard about the benefits of onions for hair. An onion mask can be used daily, including during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The action of the active components is aimed directly at strengthening the bulb, due to which the hair stops falling out.

How is onion good for hair?

  • accelerates growth;
  • restores structure;
  • prevents breakage;
  • restores natural shine and beauty;
  • has a beneficial effect on the skin: softens and eliminates dandruff;
  • enriches with vitamins and minerals;
  • gives a color tint.

In the absence of individual contraindications, onion for hair can be used by anyone who has enough patience and persistence in achieving the goal. After all, a lasting result is achieved not after one or two, but sometimes after as many as 40 procedures. Fluctuations in one direction or another are associated with the individual characteristics of each person.

  • The mask is applied to unwashed hair so that the natural fatty layer protects the hair from aggressive components.

It is applied to the skin, avoiding contact with long hair. Warm with a terry towel and polyethylene film, hold for 20 minutes, and if itching and burning are felt, then wash off earlier.

A separate topic is the elimination of the characteristic smell that remains after the onion mask. The "aromatic" consequences scare some women so much that they refuse the obviously effective way to strengthen their hair. The fight against unpleasant odor will be discussed below.

However, onions are not a panacea. Therefore, you should not expect miracles from them if your hair falls out for genetic reasons, after chemotherapy or drug treatment.

Fans of folk recipes pay tribute to natural ingredients, using, among other things, onions for hair. The benefits of the spicy vegetable seasoning are also recognized by professional cosmetologists.

Indian Hair Bow

The botanical name of the plant is Ornithogalum caudatum, and it is not related to the onion family, but to the hyacinth family. The oriental exotic was called onion due to its external resemblance to the native spicy vegetable. The juice contains glycosides, colchicine, active substances that have a strong effect on living organisms. It relieves pain, stimulates blood circulation, treats abscesses, fungus and warts, and prevents herpes. Indian onion for hair is a raw material for cosmetics, an ingredient in folk medicine.

Exotic onion restores the structure of hair follicles suffering from a lack of collagen. For the procedures, prepare a remedy from 100 g of leaves and 1 liter of boiling water. After half an hour, the infusion is placed in the cold, where it retains its healing properties for up to three days. During this time, rinse your head with strained liquid every day after washing. Such procedures can be resumed after a 2-week break.

  • Onions are unpretentious: they grow well both in soil and indoors. A properly planted plant, together with the bulb, completely “crawls” out: only the roots remain in the soil.

When using Indian onion for hair, you should remember about its toxicity. Thus, even a drop of juice can irritate a wound or mucous membrane, and if ingested, it causes poisoning, accompanied by typical symptoms: vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, swelling, kidney damage. And prolonged exposure is equal to a chemical burn.

And, of course, those who are expecting or breastfeeding a child should not experiment with a little-studied plant. This can lead to allergies and various disorders in the baby's body.

Red Onion for Hair

What is the difference between red onion for hair and regular onion, except for the color? Almost nothing. The properties of this type of onion for hair are identical, as is the purpose of use.

Before the procedure, wash your hair with shampoo and dry it without a hair dryer, and grate the onion, grind it in a meat grinder or blender. Apply the mixture to your hair, then rinse and rinse with warm water acidified with lemon or vinegar.

  • Red onion not only strengthens and adds shine to hair, but also colors it in a characteristic reddish tone. To consolidate the effect, repeat the procedure three times, with a three-day break.

Those in the know don't even throw away the husks. They are used to color hair, and on the eve of Easter - as a dye for pysankas and krashankas. To get a brown-golden color, half a glass of husks is boiled in a glass of water for 20 minutes (for long hair more, but in the same proportion), the cooled and strained liquid is poured onto clean hair without rinsing it off. This shade looks natural on light brown hair.

  • Red onion as a remedy is recommended for intensive hair loss, acute skin pathologies, dermatitis. And it is not recommended for those prone to allergies, in particular, to the onion itself.

The secret of its usefulness is that the bulb accumulates vitamins and nutrients in order to give them to green sprouts in the spring. Rich in vitamins C, B, essential oils, flavonoids. It is a natural antibiotic, contains iron, potassium, sulfur, manganese, glukinin, which reduces blood sugar.

Bright bulbs stimulate digestion, purify the blood, and boost immunity. On the table, they not only stimulate the appetite, but also decorate salads, fish, and vegetable dishes.

Onions for hair

When we talk about onions for hair, we primarily mean onion varieties. This is a tried and tested remedy in the past, perhaps underestimated in our time, when cosmetics are sold at every step, supposedly able to cope with all aesthetic problems. However, onions for hair should not be discounted even today - including for men, for whom the problem of alopecia is much more pressing than for women.

  • Onions contain live keratin, which is essential for every hair. It is suitable for any skin and hair type, unlike "cool" shampoos, lotions and other cosmetics.

Regular treatments, once every two days, have a beneficial effect on any hair. 30 or more treatments change the condition of the hair beyond recognition, making it shiny, thick and truly luxurious.

It is easy to make an onion mask yourself, in the comfort of your home. In combination with other natural products, it prevents hair loss, strengthens the roots, stimulates growth, and eliminates dandruff. Recipe against dry seborrhea:

  • Take equal parts of onion juice, castor oil and vodka, rub into the scalp before washing. Rinse thoroughly after an hour.

If the hair is very oily, do without castor oil. The onion is simply poured with vodka, and after 2 weeks it is used in the same way: rubbed in before washing your hair. Do this twice a week.

One way to avoid the annoying smell of onions is to add a banana to the mixture and rinse with acidified water.

Onion juice for hair

The main advantage of onion juice for hair is that, unlike gruel, it does not irritate with an unpleasant smell. That is, the smell is not so intense and persistent. Onion for hair is used when hair needs to be treated or restored. It is prepared independently, without much effort.

  • Peel and chop several large onions using a meat grinder or blender. Place the juicy mass in cheesecloth, separating the liquid from the solid ingredients.

It is better to do the procedure at night. Rub onion juice into the hair roots, massaging the scalp. Tie your hair with a scarf, and wash it thoroughly with shampoo in the morning. To neutralize the smell, add a little aromatic oil. Such procedures improve the condition of the skin and the appearance of the hair, restore the follicles and structure.

  • By adding various ingredients to the juice, you can effectively combat skin and hair problems, nourish, nourish and moisturize without resorting to expensive cosmetics.

Onion juice combined with olive oil (2:1) can moisturize and enrich the skin with nutrients, accelerate the growth of healthy hair. Keep this mask for one and a half to two hours, then wash off with plenty of water and shampoo.

Castor oil mixed with onion juice in equal volumes effectively combats baldness and activates the activity of hair follicles. This hair growth mask is applied to unwashed hair so that the sebum protects the epidermis from the aggressive factor, which is onion. After an hour, the head is washed with water and shampoo.

To check the sensitivity of the body, before the first use, drop a little pure onion or mixture on the elbow. If there is no burning, redness, severe itching in this place, then you are not at risk of allergy.

Onion peel for hair

While everyone has heard about onions for hair, the husk has not received such attention. As a rule, it is mercilessly thrown away, without thinking about the fact that the “wrappers” of the bulbs can be used in cooking and folk medicine.

Onion peel is no less useful for hair than juice or pulp. It not only colors, but also treats hair from some diseases: the decoction has a beneficial effect on blood vessels, strengthens the immune system, and serves to prevent strokes. How is it useful?

Dry onion peel contains phytoncides, flavonoids, vitamins, microelements, organic acids. Quercetin is especially useful, having antihistamine, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, anti-edematous, antitumor properties. It is included in the formulas of medicines against burns, frostbite, inflammation, bronchial asthma, cancer. Cosmetologists use the substance for skin rejuvenation.

  • A decoction of the husk colors light and gray hair, improves structure, and gives a healthy shine and volume.

It also effectively affects the skin: it nourishes the hair follicles, making the hair stronger and more beautiful. Rubbing in the tincture serves to prevent hair loss. Procedures with a decoction of husks and birch leaves are very useful. For 300 ml, take a tablespoon of raw materials and boil for 10 minutes. For rubbing, cool and filter. The course is 2 months.

If a person has started to go bald, the same decoction, but with oak leaves, will help him. Take 2 tablespoons of oak husk and leaves per 1 liter of water, boil for an hour and use warm. The procedure must be repeated daily for 2 weeks.

  • To mask gray hair, it is better to use yellow onion: the decoction will be more intense in color. Light hair will become golden, making gray hair almost invisible.

And the composition of the decoction, unlike some chemical dyes, will have a positive effect on the health of the hair. The longer you keep it on your hair, the brighter the shade, and the addition of glycerin contributes to even better coloring. The effect occurs with 2-3 procedures per week.

  • The peel can not only be used to paint over gray hair, but also to change the shade of healthy hair. After the procedures, they acquire a pleasant golden hue.

For this, a concentrated decoction is needed: boil 50 g daily in a glass of water for 20 minutes. A persistent brown shade with a golden tint requires an even stronger decoction. Glycerin (2 tsp) is also added to the cooled liquid. The course is 3 weeks.

Lovers of reddish-red hair should take 30 g of husk per serving, and for chestnut hair, the decoction is prepared as follows:

  • For 0.5 l you need 1 l of husk; boil it for half an hour and apply it to clean, dried hair. For even coloring, wrap your head in film and keep it warm for 2 hours.

The peel will not lighten the hair of brunettes, but as a treatment it will bring undoubted benefits.

Onion tincture for hair

Essential substances present in the bulbs of different varieties have a specific taste and a sharp smell. They are the main active component, because of which people use onions for hair.

The spicy vegetable is also rich in other substances important for nutrition, moisturizing, softening hair and skin. Useful components are also contained in onion tincture for hair on an alcohol basis, which is used in folk medicine. It is a diuretic, mild laxative, used to prevent constipation, stimulate the gastrointestinal tract and cardiac activity, and treat certain pathologies.

The tincture is recommended for eliminating dandruff. Several methods are suggested for preparation.

  • 1. For 100 g of finely chopped onion, take 0.5 l of vodka or 40% alcohol. Infuse in a dark place for 20 days.
  • 2. Infuse the onion head for a week in 1 liter of vodka.
  • 3. Infuse the chopped onion in 70% alcohol (1:1) for 2 weeks, shaking the jar periodically.
  • 4. Fill a tightly packed jar with husks with diluted alcohol or vodka. Put some cloves on the bottom beforehand. Keep the closed container in a dark cupboard for 2 weeks.

Regardless of the method of preparation, after infusion, the contents are filtered and poured into a jar or bottle for cold storage. The medicinal liquid has a beneficial effect not only on the hair, but also on the scalp.

The procedure should be performed on unwashed hair. Before applying, warm the tincture to 40–50 degrees. The course is up to three weeks or until the hair loss stops and the condition noticeably improves.

Green onions for hair

Not only white onions, but also green onions are used with benefit for hair. For this, the greens are cut into pieces. A homogeneous gruel from onion feathers for hair is prepared with a blender.

If the mass is too oily, dilute it with alcohol (vodka, cognac), if it is too dry, add sour cream or vegetable oil. Rub into the roots with massaging movements. Then cover your head with film for an hour and warm it with a scarf.

  • Rinsing is an important step in such a delicate matter as an onion mask.

The vegetable particles are not only difficult to wash out, but also cause a persistent onion smell, which can hardly be called pleasant. Some women even refuse such an effective procedure because of it. The following tips will help prevent it:

  • Add banana pulp or essential oil (a few drops) to the mixture.
  • Apply the green mass not over the entire length, but only to the roots of the strands.
  • After warm water, use orange or lemon juice mixed half and half with water.

This recipe is especially recommended for women who often dye their braids and curl them. This makes their hair stiff, dry, and difficult to comb and style. Regular onion treatments can "restore" hair, returning its former beauty and splendor.

Onion and nicotinic acid for hair

Nicotinic acid stimulates growth, moisturizes, prevents hair loss. This is the second name of vitamin PP. Synonyms are niacinamide, nicotinamide. The substance is not associated with harmful tobacco products. On the contrary, it is an essential component for hair.

  • Nicotinic acid is also found in some quantities in regular onions.

For home procedures, take pharmacy ampoules of vitamin PP. When added to a mask, the vasodilating property of the substance is manifested, due to which local blood supply and hair growth are improved. This preparation is also used to restore dyed hair, making it thicker and stronger.

The contents of the ampoule are poured onto washed and dried hair using a syringe without a needle, in small portions. There is no need to rinse, because the liquid is non-greasy, colorless and odorless. At the same time, a slight tingling sensation is felt, the skin warms up due to the rush of blood. If the pain is too strong or dandruff forms as a result of the procedures, this strengthening method is not suitable.

  • If the hair is in good condition, then nicotinic acid and onion, along with mustard, garlic, and pepper, are used as a preventative measure.

Ready-made masks with onion extract and nicotinic acid for hair are produced by the Apotek`s brand. They are designed to combat brittleness and baldness, relieve dryness, and provide enhanced nutrition to hair and skin. Onion extract enriches the composition with vitamin C and biologically active compounds.

Apotek`s onion hair mask is spread over washed wet hair, left for a few minutes and washed off with water. The advantage of the industrial product is the minimum smell, unlike homemade masks.

Castor Oil and Onion for Hair

Among natural products, castor oil and onion for hair are in the first place in stimulating their growth. And if the main task in care is to grow long thick curls, then we are here: to find out how best to use castor or other oil and onion for hair.

  • Castor oil is an old remedy for hair care. And today's popularity is also due to this, and not to the direct properties of the drug.

Castor oil consists of a mixture of fatty acids that make hair smooth, shiny, and protected from aggressive external influences, including drying out.

If you combine oil with onion juice, the film, excessive with increased fat content, is less noticeable. The vegetable makes the follicles more actively perform the growth function. It has a more gentle effect than mustard or pepper, so burns or severe pain practically do not occur, especially when used in combination with vegetable oil.

For the classic procedure, take 1 teaspoon of castor oil for 2 onion juices. The required amount depends on the thickness of the braids. On average, a spoon or two of each component is enough.

The oil is heated – in a liquefied state it is better absorbed and “lays down” on the surface. After heating, it is placed in a glass container and mixed with onion juice. With a special brush, it is applied evenly over the surface. To feel the warmth, put on a special cap and a scarf or towel. At the same time, the strong onion smell will decrease.

  • The procedure time is 15 minutes the first time, then gradually increase to one hour. To thoroughly wash off both the mask and the smell, several washes will be required. If you do not wash your hair enough, it will quickly become dirty.

If desired, the castor-onion mixture is additionally enriched with products useful for hair: yolk, kefir, honey, various aromatic oils. The course is 10 sessions, 2-3 per week. It is recommended to return to the procedures after a 2-week break.

Onion and lemon for hair

Lemon occupies a key place in the list of fruits that are especially useful for humans. Both among food products, and as a medicine and cosmetic product. In particular, for protection against colds, for skin and hair care as part of various preparations. In combination with onion for hair, citrus is able to nourish and moisturize, get rid of excess fat, remove dandruff and add a healthy shine.

Use juice, pulp, essential oil of citrus. In masks with onion and lemon for hair include ingredients depending on the type of braids. In particular, sour cream and various oils are useful for dry hair.

Features of using lemon masks:

  • do not leave overnight;
  • when using the pulp, thoroughly wash off any residue that looks unsightly on dry hair;
  • essential oil is washed off with shampoos designed for deep cleansing;
  • with frequent procedures the hair becomes lighter;
  • Lemon partially eliminates the smell.

For damaged hair, make a foam mask-wrap from the juice of 1 onion, lemon juice, burdock oil, shampoo (1 tbsp each) and 2 tbsp of honey. The mass, whipped with a mixer, resembles foam, which is rubbed in for 2 hours. The head is warmed with polyethylene and a towel. It is possible to restore hair in 2 months, with a frequency of 2 procedures per week.

Onion and Aloe for Hair

Professional cosmetics have long used phytocomponents to rid hair of various defects. The properties of plants that make hair bright and beautiful, lush and elastic have been well studied. Onion for hair is a very popular product, despite the "aromatic" consequences in the form of an unpleasant odor. But it is also successfully fought with the help of various natural substances.

Onion and aloe for hair are a great tandem. If much has been said about onion above, then aloe is used locally in such cases:

  • for the treatment of thinning dry hair;
  • if intense baldness occurs;
  • to eliminate dandruff;
  • for burns and injuries in the head area.

Aloe juice, oil, and tincture can be obtained independently, following the rules for harvesting raw materials, or you can buy a ready-made preparation at a pharmacy. Such a substance is an excellent conditioner, which, by the way, does not need to be washed off, and also an ingredient for masks. Products with aloe play the role of a powerful biostimulator; the plant activates inactive follicles, spurring them to perform the growth function. After several sessions, baldness stops and a healthy shine appears on the curls.

The recipe includes aloe juice, honey, vegetable oil 1 tbsp each, 2 tbsp burdock decoction and onion juice. Keep the mixture on your hair under a cap or hood for 1 hour. To neutralize the smell, rinse with acidified water.

Contraindications

Do not think that the procedure using natural components has no contraindications. There are situations when onion for hair should be used with caution or not at all. Thus, damage or ulcers on the scalp can cause such acute pain that it is hardly worth tolerating it. It is easier to wait until all the sores heal.

  • Very dry and delicate skin reacts sharply to onions. It may feel itching, burning, irritation.

There may be an allergy to the spicy vegetable or other ingredients, which makes it undesirable not only in the diet, but also for external use in the form of masks.

Masks on alcohol may pose a danger to hypertensive patients. In any case, you should not take low-quality alcohol or moonshine.

Possible complications include overdrying of hair, skin burns, allergic reactions. After using onion for hair, a persistent smell remains, which must be eliminated.

Harm

Onion for hair, applied to the entire length, can dry them out. To get shiny healthy hair, you should subject them to such procedures occasionally. Procedures with onion bring harm rather than benefit to those who are allergic to the spicy vegetable, who have damaged hair or scalp.

  • To prevent unpleasant consequences, you cannot ignore testing. It is carried out on the inner bend of the elbow, with a few drops of juice. If a strong burning sensation is felt, the procedure is stopped, the juice is washed off.

Harm can also be conditionally understood as a persistent smell that lasts after the procedure. Fluids are enhanced by humid weather. To avoid unpleasant situations, you should not use onions on the eve of important events in which you need to participate. You can minimize the aroma by doing the following:

  • Use pure juice, not pulp.
  • Add softening components.
  • Rinse your hair after the procedure without soap or shampoo or add essential oil to the shampoo.
  • Rinse with special ingredients (lemon juice, vinegar 1 teaspoon per liter of water).

Usually the smell disappears after several washes and airing.

Reviews

Despite all the benefits of onion for hair, masks using this vegetable are not as popular as other, less aromatic ones. According to reviews, the smell negates the unique properties that onion has. Few people are ready to fight it daily or not leave the house for weeks.

Those who have conditions that allow them to perform onion procedures are undoubtedly pleased with the results: hair and skin really do become healthier, and without much financial outlay. Everyone who cares for their hair should try it at least once.

Along with similar products containing vitamins and pungent substances, onion for hair can do a good job: restore damaged hair, protect healthy hair, reduce the risk of normal hair deterioration. It makes sense to try onion masks even in seemingly hopeless cases. And the unpleasant smell is removed with other natural substances and repeated abundant rinsing with water.
