Many vital processes in the skin depend on the presence of substances that the body can not synthesize itself. Their man gets with food, mainly with plants. Among them, such important compounds as antioxidants, vitamins, polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Often attempts to separate from the plants one or another active ingredient in its pure form, having cleared it of "ballast", result in failure - purified substances show less or incomplete activity in comparison with the original plant extracts. This suggests that in addition to those substances whose properties we know, there are many other components in plants that are also necessary for the body. The human body evolved in the environment of these substances, they became an integral part of its metabolism, and if they are deficient, it can no longer function properly. We add that from time immemorial people have been treated with plants and used them to care for the skin and hair. And the more data appears about the surprising complexity of the functioning of living systems, the close interaction of the cells of the body and the laws by which they live, the more obvious it becomes that a person is unlikely to ever be able to come up with something better than the unique ones created by nature recipes.

On the funds from the "nature store" there are no labels, no annotations, no recommendations for use. All that we know about their properties is either the data obtained as a result of scientific research (and it has not yet been possible to investigate all the substances contained in the plants) or the information stored in the piggy bank of the alternative experiment. Attacks both among substances that synthesize plants, there are substances that are either toxic by themselves, or become toxic when interacting with other substances (as well as under the influence of UV radiation, prolonged storage, etc.), we can not consider the natural cosmetics a priori "good" and "harmless." In addition, the creation of space vehicles containing only natural ingredients is an art that requires knowledge and skill. With unsuccessful selection of ingredients, "natural cosmetics" can be unstable, susceptible to oxidation or microbial effects or have an unpleasant consistency, irritating and personal substances, allergens can enter it. And then cosmetics, containing many useful straining substances, will become a source of serious problems.

Of course, cosmetics should contain natural substances. And if in cosmetics "more curative natural elixirs", all of us only will win. Provided that the manufacturer of natural cosmetics will approach its creation very responsibly and will have the necessary knowledge while the labels and annotations will contain only accurate and truthful information.

Cosmetics are designed to improve the appearance of a person, but consumers usually expect more from cosmetics and expect to improve skin condition. Improving the condition of the skin is a much more complicated task than improving its appearance. Therefore, one must understand that most cosmetic products have a temporary, purely cosmetic (not therapeutic effect). When choosing cosmetics, it is necessary to consider the possible effect on the skin of all its ingredients - from the base to the active additives. When developing cosmetic formulations, marketing considerations play a big role - the cream should have an attractive appearance, it is pleasant to lay down on the skin, it is well absorbed, it leaves a feeling of tenderness and softness to have an immediate improving effect. Sometimes these requirements are poorly compatible with the requirements of safety of the cosmetic product. Such components of cosmetic formulation, surfactants, solvents, preservatives, saturated fats, and also some biologically active additives, which in some people can cause an allergic reaction, can have a negative effect on the skin.

Cosmetics can be useful without penetrating deeply into the skin. It can play the role of an additional shield that will protect the skin from dehydration, intercept toxins, cut off harmful UV radiation, etc.

Recently, there has been a tendency to saturate cosmetics with biologically active substances that can affect the physiology of the skin. For these drugs, the term cosmeceutical is proposed. In this connection, the question of the security of these funds is especially acute. To protect your skin from damage, you must consciously treat the choice of cosmetics, remembering that the cosmetic product does not consist of only biologically active substances and that all its ingredients have a certain biological activity.
