A woman's gait will tell you about her fertility
Last reviewed: 01.07.2025
It seems that there really is something about a woman's gait. Research shows that men can identify a woman who is in the fertile stage, i.e. more likely to get pregnant. And this can be done by watching a woman's gait. It is not yet known what kind of movements a woman ready for fertilization makes, but most likely it is the swaying of her hips. This is the conclusion reached by German researchers from the University of Göttingen. And the Beatles' hits helped them with this.
The study involved 48 young women who were filmed walking in a straight line and dancing for half a minute each. The women's movements were then converted into silhouettes so that their appearance would not distract from their movements. These experiments were conducted twice. In the first case, the women were in the fertile stage, i.e., with the highest probability of becoming pregnant, and the second time, the probability of pregnancy was close to zero. Then, 200 men were asked to watch the videos. They had to look at all the silhouettes of the women and determine how attractive their movements were to them.
The results clearly showed that there is something seductive about the way women walk during their fertile period. And the higher the chances of getting pregnant, the more attractive the women's walk was to men. The scientists suggest that it is unlikely to have anything to do with speed. Most likely, it is the sway of the hips. In this way, the female body itself sends subtle hints about its readiness for conception.
