However, doctors warn that rubber flip-flops can only be worn on the beach, otherwise you can cause irreparable harm to your feet. The vast majority of flip-flops do not provide normal support for the arch of the foot, which leads to stretching of the calf muscles and overstraining of the Achilles tendons. As a result, problems with the joints of the legs, hips and back appear.

As a rule, flip-flops have a thin sole, which results in maximum contact of the foot with the ground, which is dangerous for joints and bones. In addition, the lack of a back in flip-flops leads to involuntary tension of the foot and toes in order to keep the shoe on the foot. Overstraining of the toes leads to pain in the ankles, hips, back, legs. Also, flip-flops worsen the condition of people with bunions and fasciitis (doctors warn that regularly wearing flip-flops can provoke pathological conditions in the foot, as well as neurological diseases). In addition, flip-flops can cause irritation and infection, since most of the foot is open in flip-flops, which threatens cuts, abrasions and injuries. Walking on asphalt, concrete, while playing sports can cause serious injuries, since flip-flops not only do not provide normal fixation and support for the foot, but also do not protect it from external influences. The rubber sole is a good place for the reproduction of bacteria and fungi.

In terms of danger, flip-flops can be compared to ballet shoes, and doctors recommend limiting the wearing of rubber shoes.

Flip-flops have no cushioning, which also leads to pain in a person's legs, feet, shins, thighs, and back. The most common injuries that people get in flip-flops are broken toes, broken nails, abrasions, and infectious inflammations on the feet. It is also recommended that all flip-flop lovers use sunscreen for their feet.

However, there are people who cannot do without flip-flops, so orthopedists have developed a number of recommendations. First of all, experts advise buying high-quality shoes made of genuine leather, which will help avoid chafing and irritation. When choosing shoes, you need to carefully bend the flip-flop; if it folds well in half, then it is better to refuse to buy such a model.

When trying on flip-flops, you need to pay attention to your feet, which should not hang over the edges.

Experts also recommend buying a new pair of shoes every year, especially if the previous model is already well worn out. Irritation between the toes after wearing flip-flops should not be ignored, as this can lead to severe infectious inflammation.

Doctors warn that you shouldn't wear flip-flops for long walks or sports; it's better to choose special shoes.
