The number of adults with diabetes has more than doubled worldwide over the past three decades, to 347 million.

This is stated in a study by specialists from Harvard University and Imperial College London.

Experts linked one of the reasons for the growth of the disease to the increase in the number of people suffering from obesity. Among the countries with high rates of diabetes spread are Cape Verde, Samoa, Saudi Arabia, Papua New Guinea, and the USA.

Previously, specialists from the Institute of Cardiovascular Research at the Free University of Amsterdam came to the conclusion that people suffering from obesity and who are also diagnosed with diabetes can cure it with the help of weight loss surgeries.
