How to fight overeating: useful tips
Last reviewed: 01.07.2025
No matter how hard we try to curb our appetite, sometimes it is very difficult to do, and such weaknesses lead us to overeating and heaviness in the stomach. We have some tips that will help control food consumption and prevent appetite surges.
Snack less
Don't try to satisfy your hunger by raiding the fridge, grabbing a cake or ice cream. It's better to eat properly than to grab one thing or another. This will only lead to you swallowing a little bit of everything, and in the end - a full stomach and no benefit.
How not to break your diet
If you stick to a certain diet and, for example, do not allow yourself to eat fried or starchy foods, which you have already started dreaming about at night, then you are at risk. One day you can simply break down and seriously scare your stomach, which will only get “upset” from such a surprise. Therefore, do not subject yourself to such torment, but still occasionally satisfy your desires, allowing yourself to eat a bun or a juicy steak.
Ask yourself questions
Find out once and for all why, when you understand that it is time to stop and push the plate of food away from you, it does not work. Before you pick up your fork again, tune in to the fact that you are stronger than your stomach and your desires.
Eat slowly
Enjoy every bite and chew thoroughly, break the habit of throwing all the food after yourself, as if you were late for a train. Slowly absorbing food and enjoying the taste will give the brain a chance to understand what you are doing at the moment and it will send a signal of satiety.

Know your portion sizes
Get yourself a separate plate that will hold as much food as you can eat without overeating. And if you bought a pack of crackers or chips, do not eat directly from the package, pour everything into the plate, so you can control the process of eating.
Don't eat in front of the TV screen.
The most unfavorable trio that can affect your waist size is TV, sofa and food. When watching an interesting program, we rarely look at the plate and do not even taste the food.
Don't make forays into the kitchen
Forbid yourself from sneaking into the kitchen knowing that there are leftovers of a delicious dinner there. Use all your willpower, but don't set foot in the kitchen.
Brush your teeth after eating
The taste of mint paste will kill the aftertaste of your breakfast, lunch or dinner, and will not allow the desire to eat another piece of something to do its dirty work.
