The US Department of Justice has launched an investigation into the Google corporation, which is suspected of earning profits from advertising banned online pharmacies in America. This is written by The Wall Street Journal with reference to sources familiar with the situation.

On May 10, Google published an updated financial report for the first quarter of this year, from which it followed that the corporation had postponed $ 500 million to pay fines for online advertising. In the report details of the claims of the authorities to the company were not reported.

According to the publication, the speech, in particular, is about advertisements of Canadian pharmacies that violate US law. The newspaper points out that on the Internet there are many pharmacy websites selling medicines without prescriptions or fakes.

If the corporation is found guilty, one of the biggest fines that it will have to pay to the American authorities is waiting for it. Representatives of Google and the Ministry of Justice refused to comment on the situation.

Due to the fact that the company postponed the money for possible fines, its profit in the first quarter of this year was reduced to 1.8 billion dollars. Last year, the advertising revenue of the corporation exceeded $ 30 billion, mainly thanks to the AdWords service.
