Ecologists continually conflict with pharmaceutical companies, which for the sake of profit can sacrifice safety. Recently, a situation has arisen in Kiev, which, according to ecologists, can lead to an ecological catastrophe. The numerous pharmacy warehouses located near the stipulated norms from the Efremovka-Dikanka-Kiev gas pipeline are a threat to the environment, and any, even the most insignificant dangerous situation in warehouses can lead to dangerous consequences.
Warehouses are located in this area for several years, their total area is more than 20 thousand kilometers, at the moment there are stored various medicines intended for pharmacies in Kiev and the Kiev region. It is worth noting that the warehouses were built with some violations and residents of the Borispol district are concerned about the current situation and are afraid for their health and life.
According to the lawyer Viktor Lutsenko, there should not be any objects from the gas pipeline within a radius of 250 km, especially with a mass gathering of people and active activity. After the explosion at the tank farm, extensive inspections of all the regime facilities that could cause an explosion were conducted, so there is no serious reason for concern.
During the construction of warehouses and after putting them into operation, the company was repeatedly sued by Kyivtransgaz, the gas pipeline operator, and Ukrtransgaz. But the company's management is confident that during construction all safety standards were observed and the design of buildings was maintained with all fire regulations. Also, the warehouses have been inspected many times by state services and inspections. In addition, the company noted that according to the inspection of the Gosgorpromnadzor, the warehouses do not carry any threat and the border from the gas pipeline can be narrowed without any dangerous consequences.
But the lawyers of the public organization ordered an examination at the Kiev Scientific Research Institute of Expertise, the results of which, perhaps, will put an end to the protracted disputes. According to lawyers, the danger in this case lies precisely in the fact that these warehouses contain medicines. In case of emergency in warehouses, not only the life and health of local residents, ecology, but also the work of pharmacies in Kiev and the Kiev region will be jeopardized, which will lead to a shortage of life-saving drugs.
