In the process of research, where 80 volunteers participated, the scientists came to the conclusion that electronic cigarettes, which have recently received a great popularity, do not contribute at all to the reduction of dependence on nicotine.

Quite recently such cigarettes were considered the safest way to quit smoking. As shown by the poll conducted by the sociological group, in the understanding of people electronic cigarettes are a simple and effective way of abandoning the addiction.

But the scientists in their study found that the dose of nicotine, which occurs when smoking an electronic cigarette in the human body is the same as when smoking an ordinary cigarette. At the same time people consider such cigarettes safe for health mainly without higher education (it was established in the same research project). Also, doctors are concerned about the fact that electronic cigarettes are not considered as a medical device, so they can not be attributed to nicotine substitutes of this kind. At this stage, specialists plan to study the issue of electronic cigarettes in more detail in order to confirm the available results.

An electronic cigarette appeared in China. The device was invented in 2004 by Khon Lik, whose father smoked for a long time and as a result died of diseases associated with cigarettes. Probably, it was this that prompted Khon Lika to come up with a similar device that allows to safely satisfy the body's need for nicotine. The device began to bring quite a big profit, and now Hon Lick has already become a millionaire.

In 2009, the results of a detailed study of cartridges for filling an electronic cigarette became known. A total of 19 types of cartridges from two manufacturing companies were used for the study. The study was conducted by the Office responsible for the quality of products and medicines in the United States. As it turned out, the cartridges contained one carcinogenic compound - tobacco-specific-nitrosamine, in one of the cartridges studied, diethylene glycol was detected.

In the process of studying, scientists found that in most cases, between the present and nominal, the nicotine content was a significant difference. In addition, in some cartridges, where the assurances of the manufacturer should not contain nicotine, the latter was identified.

In the same year an article was published in which the authors recommended not to buy electronic cigarettes. In addition, the Office of Control insists that such cigarettes are not sold to minors.

Nicotine is a drug that, according to its degree of dependence, is like heroin. In electronic cigarettes (especially when installing a new cartridge), it is difficult to monitor the level of nicotine that enters the body. At the same time, according to scientists, the risk of unconscious increase in the dose is significantly increased.

Currently, there is active propaganda about the dangers of smoking, various administrative measures are being taken to influence smokers. However, many people find it extremely difficult to quit smoking and scientists do not stop doing research in this area to help effectively and simply overcome a bad habit.
