Cuban environmentalists have unexpectedly issued a statement that the average sea level in the area of the island of Liberty will rise noticeably by the end of the century as a result of global warming.
Computer simulation, led by Abel Centelli, the scientific director of the Meteorological Institute of the country, showed that by 2050 the sea level rise will be 27 cm, and by 2100 - 85 cm.
Nothing is said about preventive measures. Scientists conducting monitoring are only encouraged to do so.
Recall, the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change predicted that by the end of the century sea level will rise by 75-190 cm. The growth will not be uniform across the world due to currents, winds and other factors.
