Law enforcement authorities in China found a criminal group that was engaged in the manufacture of counterfeit medicines. In total, about 65 million counterfeit medicines were seized.

The investigation, which lasted about 4 months, was started after a woman from Henan Province was suspected of substituting genuine drugs with counterfeit medicines.

As it became known to the Chinese police, criminals organized the production of counterfeit medicines in 8 provinces of China. They produced counterfeit medicines, using starch and corn flour as a basis, and also repackaged overdue drugs.

As part of the tablets, animal feed, chemical dyes and other substances were found that could adversely affect human health.

More than a thousand policemen helped to uncover the criminal network. 117 clandestine laboratories were found that produced counterfeit drugs and sold them through the Internet and advertisements. At present, 114 people who were suspected of producing and selling fake medicines among the population were arrested.
