Despite the rapid development of modern medicine, some syndromes and diseases still baffle doctors and scientists and cause considerable surprise among people. Some of them are congenital, and some develop during life.

Unusual sexual deviations

Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder (PGAD)

People with this disorder are constantly in a state of sexual arousal. Actual symptoms may vary. Women often experience physical signs of arousal, which are characterized by high sensitivity in the genital area, which forces them to give up certain types of clothing that cause arousal. People with genital arousal disorders experience dozens of spontaneous orgasms per day. Sometimes additional stimulation provides relief, but not for long: after a few hours, the state of arousal returns again. This can last for several days or several months. It would seem that there is nothing wrong with having an orgasm every day. However, for a sick person, this is not pleasure at all, but the inability to live a full life - to work normally, spend time with family and even sleep.

Some patients say that they have been experiencing this condition since childhood, while others experience these sensations after pregnancy or during menopause.

Priapism

This condition is characterized by constant excitation of the penis, which is quite dangerous, since it is unable to return to a calm state. The disease received its name from the Greek god Priapus, who went down in history because of his disproportionately large penis, which was constantly in an erect state. It is known that the cause of priapism is complex neurological and vascular factors, but this deviation has not been fully studied. In the worst case, this condition can lead to gangrene.

Hypersexuality

Hypersexuality, or extreme hyperactivity of sexual desire, is classified as a mental disorder. People with hypersexuality often engage in risky sexual behavior, such as sex with prostitutes and unprotected sex with multiple strangers, which increases the risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections. These people tend to be obsessed with sex to an extreme degree, which often interferes with normal life, creating problems at work and in their personal lives.

Hypersexuality can also be a consequence of mental illnesses such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Treatment for hypersexuality varies depending on what the disorder is associated with. For some patients, drugs that reduce testosterone levels and therapy with psychologists may be helpful.

Sexsomnia or sex in sleep

As a rule, people diagnosed with sexsomnia are unaware of their adventures at night. They may have sex or masturbate in their sleep, and in the morning not remember what happened at night. There have been cases when a person in this state committed rape, but for him it remained only a dream of a sexual nature. This disorder is very similar to sleepwalking. The development of sexsomnia can be influenced by alcohol abuse, chronic insomnia and other disorders caused by certain diseases, such as epilepsy.

Asexuality

There are people who find it hard to live without regular sexual relations and even a week of "stagnation" may seem like an eternity, but some people may be surprised by such an attitude to sex, because they do not experience the slightest attraction to sexual pleasures. This disorder is called asexuality and lasts not a week, not a month, but forever. There are still discussions in medical circles about recognizing the fourth orientation or sexual constitution.

Asexuals are not sexually dysfunctional. They are physically able to have sex, but they choose not to. They do not worry about the lack of sexual desire and do not think that there is something wrong with them, so abstaining from sexual relations does not affect the health of asexuals, because they, unlike people who suppress natural desire for some reason, do not fight with their body.

Paraphilia

This deviation is characterized by obsessive behavior that manifests itself in socially unacceptable ways of satisfying sexual desire. In other words, a person is excited by something unusual and strange, although people suffering from paraphilia themselves do not find anything inadequate in their preferences. There are 113 officially recognized paraphilias, but in fact, the source that causes sexual fantasies can be anything.

Hermaphroditism

It is an intersex condition in which a person is born with testicular (male) and ovarian (female) tissue. People with the condition may have been exposed to high levels of male hormones in the womb, or may have a deficiency in aromatase, an enzyme that converts male hormones into female hormones.

Micropenis

This is a phenomenon in which the penis reaches less than 12 centimeters in an erect state. The reasons for insufficient development of the genital organ can be congenital pathology of the endocrine system or acquired endocrinopathy, which develops due to testosterone deficiency. This problem is the reason for the development of psychological problems in most men, including self-doubt, social failures and difficulties in communicating with women. The length of the penis directly depends on the level of male sex hormones during puberty, because they are responsible for the growth of the genitals.

Diphallia

This is the medical definition of penile duplication. This phenomenon is quite rare, and about a hundred known cases of diphallia have been recorded in history. Men with this deviation can have both penises functioning normally, but these people are usually infertile. Often, diphallia treatment is radical - removal of one less developed organ.
