One of the most popular and effective ways to influence the inflammatory processes in the nasopharynx is to wash the nose at home. The procedure is very simple, but very effective in allergic conditions, excellent prevention of acute respiratory infections. According to the adherents of yoga, the washing of the nose should be done daily. With this you can argue, but the therapeutic effect of the procedure no longer requires additional evidence.

Indications

When washing the nose at home will help the body overcome the disease? The procedure is recommended for sinusitis, frontitis, etmoiditis and pathological processes in adenoids. Washing is also performed to relieve the condition in an allergic rhinitis.

The liquid enters through the anastomoses and flushes mucus and pus from the maxillary and frontal sinuses, as well as from the latticed labyrinth. Doctors recommend this procedure for sinusitis, which has not yet passed into a neglected chronic form.

Washing technique

The procedure is very simple and it can be performed in a state of each, washing does not require special preparation. At home, the nose can be washed in several ways.

Method 1

Water or washing liquid should be at room temperature. It is necessary to collect liquid in the palm of your hand. Then, bending over the washbasin, draw in the solution with your nose. After this, it should be spat and blew, releasing the nasopharynx from the remaining fluid and pus.

Method 2

Nowadays, there are many different devices and compressors for nasal lavage, most of which are used in medical institutions. Apparatus for washing the nose at home is also a lot. Special watering cans for washing the nose, similar in shape to a small teapot, are sold in pharmacies. Yoga practitioners also have similar vessels, which are called neti-sweat. They can be metal, ceramic, plastic and even rubber. They all have a narrow nose or an elongated neck that is inserted into the nostril. For these purposes, and a bottle of drops for the nose, only the hole should be made wider, so that the solution can flow a trickle. If the rhinitis is accompanied by angina or inflammation of the tonsils, then the second method will wash not only the nasopharynx, but also remove at least part of the plaque in the throat and tonsils.

The head should be in an upright position when washed by this method. Before the procedure, an enema with a soft tip should be filled with a liquid intended for rinsing. Then you should bend over the sink, open your mouth and stick out your tongue. One of the nostrils injects a nose of a pear, the compression of which is to achieve that the solution, passing through the nasopharynx, begins to pour out through the mouth.

The jet from the enema should be moderate to eliminate the possibility of infection under the pressure in the nasal sinuses or the middle ear. Then comes the turn of the other nostril. Flushing should be completed with a thorough blow-out to remove the remaining liquid and mucus from the nasopharynx. This rinsing facilitates breathing after the first procedure.

Method 3

For the so-called nasal shower it is necessary to prepare a mug of Esmarch with a hose, a tap and a tip. The tip should be a special shape resembling an olive, 2 cm in size with a maximum diameter of 2 cm, and with a diameter in the narrow part within 1 cm. A Eschmarch mug with 0.5 with a solution is installed a half meter above the vessel for running water. The crane must be set in such a position that the composition can flow no faster than 5 minutes. The tip sinks into the nose of the nose.

During the procedure, you can breathe through your mouth. The solution will gradually fall into one nostril, wash the nasal septum and pour out through the second nostril. After the liquid is poured through the second nostril in the same way. You can blow your nose at the end of half an hour after the end of the procedure.

Method 4

If the maxillary sinuses are inflamed, it is recommended to resort to a nose wash by moving. This method is suitable for patients who have not had time to go to chronic form. Many people know this method called "cuckoo washing". This washing clears both the nasopharynx and sinuses from accumulated suppuration and mucus. If this method is used simultaneously with laser treatment, the results will not take long to wait. But such treatment is possible only in a hospital. Experiments using this device for washing the nose at home are usually ineffective, because after the "cuckoo" you need to use a special suction device for the contents of the nasopharynx. The mechanism of its action is simple: due to the negative pressure, the contents of the sinuses are sucked into the special capacity of the device. It is unlikely that they will be able to do this on their own, especially if it is a procedure for the child.

It may seem that washing the nose is a very difficult and unpleasant procedure. But in fact it turns out that the fears were groundless, and the result comes instantly: washing the nose at home will eliminate stuffiness, ease breathing, remove swelling, remove mucus, pus, dust, microorganisms from the nasopharynx and disinfect the nasopharynx.

Solutions for washing the nose at home

Rinse the nose with sea salt. Sea water has a very positive effect on the condition of the nasal mucosa, it can stop the development of many diseases, even chronic ones. If it is possible to wash with sea water, it is recommended to stop the selection from all liquids for washing the nose on it.

Sea salt is easy to find in the pharmacy, and its cost is quite low. From salt it is easy to make a composition for washing the nose at home:

  • 1 tsp of sea salt stir in 400 ml of water. The water is taken boiled or refined warm unheated;
  • 2 tsp. Sea salt for 200 ml of water. A liquid with a high concentration of salt will only suit those who are forced to breathe dusty air, as the solution of the nasopharyngeal mucosa dries up;
  • 2 tsp. Sea salt for 1 liter of water. Such a composition is ideal for rinsing the throat, washing the nasopharynx with sinusitis.

For the baby, the liquid should be less concentrated: 2-3 grams of salt per 200 ml of water.

Washing with saline. If you do not have sea salt at hand, you can take ordinary kitchen salt for washing. It may well replace the sea, retaining all the benefits of hydrochloric therapy. Ideal concentration - 1 tsp. Salt to 0.5 liters of water.

For washing it is often resorted to a mixture of salt and soda: ½ tsp. Salt and ½ tsp. Soda for 200 g of water. This compound has antibacterial action and is intended for treatment, so it is not suitable for prevention or hygiene.

Fizrashvor. This is the abbreviated name of the isotonic solution. There are several types of saline solution, the most famous of which is sodium chloride solution at a concentration of 0.9%. Nasal solution is the safest remedy that does not have contraindications. It is sold in pharmacies in ready-made form - in special vials, aerosols and ampoules. Doctors believe that washing with saline can be done for therapeutic purposes, and for prevention - to cope with the usual drying of the nasopharyngeal mucosa. Doctors agreed, washing the nose at home with saline solution is the most effective, harmless alternative to modern expensive medications.

Contraindications

Seeming innocuous and universal, this procedure is still not always shown. In no case can the nose be washed if the nasopharyngeal tissues are strongly swollen or the nasal septum is significantly twisted if there are benign or malignant neoplasms in the nasopharynx if there is a chance of inflammation in the middle ear or if there is an opening in the eardrum. In these cases, the procedure is fraught with complications. Also consider the risk of allergy to the ingredients of the rinse composition.
