Vibrocil
Medical expert of the article
Last reviewed: 04.07.2025
Vibrocil is a decongestant; it is a vasoconstrictor substance that acts on the nasal mucosa. It has a complex composition (dimethindene, which is an antagonist of H1 endings, as well as the sympathomimetic phenylephrine).
The drug has a long-lasting and very rapid vasoconstrictor effect on the venous bed of the nasal mucosa with paranasal sinuses. It reduces pathogenic exudation and improves the activity of the ciliated epithelium. The combination with dimethindene causes the development of an antiallergic effect. [ 1 ]
Vibrocil is a local agent, therefore its therapeutic activity is not determined by the blood level of active ingredients.

Indications Vibrocil
It is used to treat manifestations of respiratory colds (swelling of the nasal mucosa). It is also used in such cases:
- rhinitis in the active or chronic stage;
- rhinitis of vasomotor or allergic etiology;
- polysinusitis, as well as sinusitis in the active or chronic phase;
- the process of preparation before performing manipulations or diagnostic procedures in the nasal cavity;

Release form
The drug is produced in the form of nasal drops - inside 15 ml bottles. In addition, it is sold in the form of a spray - inside bottles equipped with a sprayer (volume 15 ml). It can also be produced in the form of a gel - inside a 12 g tube.
Pharmacodynamics
Phenylephrine is an amine sympathomimetic. It is used as a nasal decongestant with moderate vasoconstrictor effect, and in addition, it selectively stimulates the activity of α1-adrenergic endings within the venous cavernous tissues of the nasal mucosa. [ 2 ] As a result, swelling of the nasal mucosa with paranasal sinuses disappears quickly and for a long time. [ 3 ]
Dimethindene is a substance with an antagonistic effect on the H1-ends of histamine; it has antiallergic properties. It has an effect when administered in small doses and is tolerated without complications. [ 4 ]
Pharmacokinetics
In case of accidental oral administration of the drug, the bioavailability of phenylephrine decreases by about 38%. This is due to metabolic processes during the first intrahepatic and intestinal passage. The half-life is approximately 2.5 hours.
The systemic bioavailability of dimethindene after oral administration of solution is approximately 70%; the half-life is approximately 6 hours.
Dosing and administration
Drops LS for infants up to 12 months of age are administered 1 drop in each nostril, 3-4 times a day. At the age of 1-6 years - 1-2 drops, 3-4 times a day. For persons over 6 years of age, use 3-4 drops, 3-4 times a day.
The gel is injected deep into the nasal passage. The procedure is performed 3-4 times a day. It is prescribed only for persons over 6 years of age.
The spray is also used only for people aged 6 years and over. It is necessary to make 1-2 injections into each nostril, 3-4 times a day. The procedure should be performed holding the head vertically, taking shallow breaths after using the drug. The bottle is held with the spray upward, and the injection is made with light pressure.
The cycle duration is 1 week.
