Release form

The substance is released in the form of a 1% gel, in tubes of 55 g, 1 piece per box.

Pharmacodynamics

An important element of the effect exerted by diclofenac is the slowing down of the processes of PG biosynthesis. Diclofenac suppresses the manifestations of inflammation (acute or chronic form), and also eliminates hyperemia and pain.

Topical use of diclofenac quickly leads to relief from pain and stiffness of joints in the morning, and in addition to this, it helps improve the mobility of the musculoskeletal system and reduces swelling. Thanks to this, it is possible to reduce the doses of NSAIDs and painkillers, which are prescribed for oral use simultaneously with the gel.

Pharmacokinetics

After local use, diclofenac passes well through the epidermis into the subcutaneous tissues, tendons, fascia, and also into the synovium and joint capsule. The component reaches effective indicators inside the inflamed tissues after 20 minutes, but inside the systemic bloodstream its values remain extremely low.

Diclofenac absorption after local application is 3.3%. This allows to exclude the development of most negative manifestations observed with parenteral or oral administration of the element.

Absorbed diclofenac is 99.7% synthesized in plasma with protein and undergoes first intrahepatic passage. After this, metabolic products are excreted in urine (40-65%) and feces (35%). Approximately 0.8-1% of the active component is excreted unchanged.

The distribution volume of the substance is quite low: within 0.12-0.55 l/kg. The level of total clearance is within 267-350 ml/minute.

Dosing and administration

Most often, a strip of approximately 2-4 g of gel is applied to the affected area. The procedure is performed 3-4 times a day (0.4-0.8 m2 ). The gel must be rubbed in for absorption into the epidermis.

The use of Veral gel can be combined with the introduction of other therapeutic forms of release containing diclofenac. The drug can be used for a long time.
