Uzar medication is classified as a series of antidiarrheal drugs used by gastroenterologists for the treatment of adult patients and children from 12 months. The main direction of Uzar is suppression of intestinal motility.

Uzara is produced by the German pharmaceutical company Stada Arzneimittel AG. 

In the pharmacy chain, Uzara medication can be released without a prescription.

Indications of the usaras

The drug is used to quickly provide assistance in the acute form of nonspecific diarrhea, including allergic nature, as well as diarrhea that has occurred due to a stressful situation, or associated with a violation of the food regime or with an unusual composition of dishes.

As an additional remedy, Uzara can be prescribed to treat diarrhea of infectious etiology.

Release form

Medication Uzara can be produced in various dosage forms:

  • in the form of tablets in a shell, 20 pcs. Packaged;
  • in the form of a transparent brownish syrup for oral administration, 100 ml vial;
  • in the form of oral solution, 100 ml or 30 ml vial.

 The active component of the drug is the plant extract of the root of the Usara (Xysmalobium undulatum).

 Additional substances:

  • the tablet form is supplemented with calcium carbonate, glucose, ground grains of Czaregrad pods, lactose, oxide and magnesium stearate, glycolic wax, castor oil, sucrose, silicon dioxide, talc, starches and titanium dioxide;
  • the syrup is supplemented with propylene glycol, flavors, macrogolglycerol hydroxystearate, glucose, purified water.

 Uzara is packed in cardboard boxes. A measuring cup-dispenser is supplied with the syrup.

Pharmacodynamics

Uzara is a contraposition of natural natural composition, the action of which is aimed at inhibition of the motor function of the intestine. Biological plant components of the drug effectively eliminate spasms, weaken peristalsis, have a tanning effect, inhibit the secretory activity of the digestive system.

The scheme of the effect of the drug is based on the effect of the acting components on the sympathetic nervous system.

The pharmacokinetic properties of Uzar medication have not been studied.

Dosing and administration

The method of application and dose of Uzar depends on the course of diarrhea, the age of the patient and the form of the drug.

Uzar is intended for internal use, regardless of the time of eating.

  • Syrup for adults is prescribed in a dose of 25 ml at a time, then (if necessary) 5 ml up to 6 times a day until the intestinal function stabilizes.

 Children under 16 years old the first dose is about 5 ml of the drug, then 3 ml to 6 times a day.

 Children under 6 years are prescribed 1 ml of the drug up to 6 times a day.

 Children from 12 months to 2 years of age are prescribed ½ ml three times a day.

  • Tablets for adults and children from 12 years prescribed in a dose of 5 tablets at a time, then (if necessary) to 1 tab. Up to 6 times a day before the normalization of bowel function.

Children under 12 years of age are prescribed 1 tablet three times on the first day of therapy, then 1 tablet up to 3 times a day until the condition stabilizes.

The maximum duration of therapy is 5 days.

Use of the usaras during pregnancy

In the course of special studies, specialists found no negative effect on the course of pregnancy, as well as on the condition and development of the fetus. To this day, there have been no reports of cases of development of anomalies in the unborn child after use by the mother of this drug.

However, due to the fact that there has not been enough time to make final conclusions about the harmlessness of the drug, the use of Uzar during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended.

In some cases, Uzar can be used by pregnant women, but only if the expected benefit is greater than the possible risks and dangers of the consequences. Do not take the drug during pregnancy without the appointment of a doctor. 

Contraindications

Contraindications to the use of Uzara are:

  • allergic sensitivity of the organism to individual components of the drug;
  • reception of drugs-cardiac glycosides;
  • heart rhythm disturbances;
  • a disorder of the absorption of lactose, galactose and glucose components, as well as their intolerance;
  • excessive sensitivity to fructose and sucrose;
  • lack of potassium and magnesium in the blood;
  • children age from birth to 12 months.

The drug in tablet form is shown to children from 6 years of age.

With caution apply the drug for suspected intestinal obstruction.

Patients with intolerance to gluten and diabetic patients should remember that the tablet drug Uzara in the composition contains starches and glucose syrup.

If the diarrhea lasts more than 2 days, fecal matter shows an admixture of blood, or the body temperature rises, the doctor should be consulted immediately.

Side effects of the usaras

Among the side effects of Uzar can be identified:

  • allergic processes, as a response to some components of the drug (redness, swelling and rashes on the skin);
  • Dyspeptic phenomena in the form of nausea and vomiting;
  • disorders of cardiac activity (arrhythmia), convulsive conditions.

With the development of side effects, it is recommended to stop taking the drug.

Overdose

 When taking large therapeutic doses of the drug, the following phenomena may occur:

  • allergy;
  • attacks of nausea and vomiting;
  • headache;
  • sleep disorder;
  • arrhythmias;
  • irritability.

If you suspect an overdose, give the patient an activated charcoal, or stimulate a vomiting reflex.

It is necessary to control the activity of the heart and electrolyte balance, since Uzara has an action similar to cardiac glycosides.

Interactions with other drugs

It is not recommended to use Uzara with medicines containing calcium, as well as with osmotic diuretics and cardiac glycosides, in view of the possible occurrence of a disorder of cardiac activity.

It is not recommended to take the drug together with alcoholic beverages, since their interaction has not been studied.
