Uzala (Ujala) refers to combined herbal preparations used in ophthalmology. Ayurvedic medicinal product is manufactured by Hymalaja Chemical Laboratory Pharmacy (India), the composition of the drug is patented.
Indications Uzala
The main indications for the use of Uzala include ophthalmic pathologies such as opacity of the lens and the cornea of the eye, inflammation of the mucous membrane of the eye (conjunctivitis), lacrimation, an abnormal buildup of the conjunctiva on the cornea (pterygium), trachoma, and cataracts (including stopping its development).

Pharmacodynamics
The therapeutic effect of the Uzala preparation is provided by the extracts of the Berhavia spreading plant (Boerhaavia diffusa) and potassium nitrate (potassium nitrate) dissolved in glycerin included in its composition.
A perennial plant of Berkhavia is spread throughout Asia as a weed. According to Ayurveda, this plant possesses a number of unique biochemical properties and has long been used in this region of the world for the treatment of many diseases.
This plant contains phytosterols, phenolic glycosides, isoflavonoids Boeravinone G and Boeravinone H. These biologically active compounds have analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antiproliferative properties.
The plant has the alkaloid Punarnavine (Punarnavine), phytoecdisones (steroid substances), which have stimulating and adaptogenic effects, as well as a powerful antioxidant - xanthon boerhavin. These substances reduce the content of oxidation products of tissue lipids, normalize cellular metabolism and restore cells of plasma membranes.
Therefore, the Uzal drug positively affects the already damaged protein cells of the cornea, and also prevents or slows down their further coagulation - the main cause of cataracts.
Potassium nitrate, due to its moderate antimicrobial effect, also prevents the growth and growth of bacteria.

Dosing and administration
The method of application and dose of this drug - burying in the eye twice a day (morning and evening) one drop. After that it is recommended not to strain your eyes for 1.5-2 hours and avoid direct sunlight.
The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor, the average duration of cataract treatment is between three and five months.

Contraindications

Side effects Uzala
Side effects of Uzal are possible immediately when instilled drops - in the form of severe burning in the eyes and tear. But, according to the instruction, this is a normal phenomenon, and it is necessary to show patience. It is recommended to close your eyes and rest. At the same time, one can not rub eyes or rinse them, since then using Uzal will not give a therapeutic effect.
Experts in Ayurveda advise using this medicine to eat less animal and vegetable fats, drink more water, introduce into your diet more fresh vegetables, fruits and greens. Otherwise, prolonged treatment with Uzal can lead to constipation.

Overdose
There are no specific data on cases of Uzal overdose. A special antidote for overdose has not been developed.
In order to avoid undesirable phenomena, the following recommendations should be considered:
- if you use the drug for the first time, start the therapeutic course with a minimum dosage (1-2 drops in 2-3 days), for 7-10 days leading the dose to standard rates;
- if after the use of drops there is permanent reddening of the eyes (for several days), then Uzal should be discontinued and consult a doctor;
- if the course of treatment with the drug is prolonged, then there is a possibility of constipation.
Interactions with other drugs
It is not recommended to use other external eye medications concurrently with Uzala.
Use of ophthalmic drugs for internal use is not prohibited.
