Urological antiseptic - suppositories Urosept is a representative of antibacterial drugs of the quinolone group.

Indications of the urosepta

Urosept suppositories are usually prescribed for the treatment of inflammatory infectious pathologies that were provoked by drug-sensitive bacteria, for example, it may be an inflammatory process in the urethra, the bladder, the prostate, or the kidneys.

Release form

Produced Urosept in the form of suppositories of a whitish-yellowish hue, with a possible slight coating on the surface.

The active ingredient of Urosept is pipemidic acid.

In the package there are ten suppositories, sealed in blister plates of five pieces.

Pharmacodynamics

Suppositories of Urosept belong to the group of antiseptic agents of a number of quinolones.

Urosept has a qualitative bactericidal effect, especially in relation to gram-negative microbes, as well as to individual gram-positive bacteria (for example, staphylococcus aureus).

Pharmacokinetics

The maximum possible level of Urosept in the serum is detected after 2-3 hours after using the drug. Such a limit level is simultaneously found in the urinary fluid.

Ingredients of Urosept are excreted through the urinary system in unmodified form.

Dosing and administration

Before you start using Urosept, you need to perform a series of sequential actions:

Urosept can be used, either rectally into the rectum, or intravaginally into the vagina: 1 pc. Twice a day, for ten days in a row.

It is not allowed to apply Urosept suppositories during pregnancy, as well as during the breastfeeding of the baby.

Contraindications

Do not use Urosept suppositories with a tendency to an allergic response of the body to the components of the drug, with severe kidney pathologies (creatinine clearance less than 10 ml per minute), severe liver disease (cirrhosis), CNS pathology (epilepsy, lowering convulsive threshold).

Side effects of the urosepta

As side effects, local and systemic manifestations are considered:

  • irritation of mucous membranes, tenderness and burning in the area of administration of the Urosept suppository;
  • the development of anemia, eosinophilia, thrombocytopenia;
  • state of excitation, depression, hallucinations;
  • trembling in the hands and feet, insomnia, sensory disorders, convulsions, headaches;
  • disorders of visual function;
  • allergic manifestations - rash, itching, photosensitivity;
  • joint pain, tendonitis;
  • emaciation, abdominal pain, heartburn, nausea, bloating, diarrhea, or constipation;
  • sensation of weakness;
  • formation of resistance, development of superinfection.

If the side effects are severe, then Urosept should be discontinued. First of all, this concerns cases with allergic processes, as well as the development of toxic epidermonecrolysis.

Overdose

The signs of a possible overdose of Urosept can be:

  • attacks of vomiting and nausea;
  • dizziness, impaired consciousness;
  • trembling in the limbs and fingers, muscle cramps.

If the patient suffering from an overdose is conscious, then it is necessary to rinse his stomach and give a sufficient amount of sorbent drugs.

In severe cases, hemodialysis may be used, the efficacy of which is 90% within six hours.

If the patient has CNS disorders - for example, a convulsive syndrome - then it is appropriate to prescribe a symptomatic treatment with diazepam.

Interactions with other drugs

If the treatment of Urosept is prolonged, the half-elimination of theophylline may be prolonged, in connection with the increase in its content in the blood to 40-80%.

Urosept increases the plasma content of caffeine (magnification factor 2-4).

Urosept can potentiate the action of medications such as warfarin, cimetidine, rifampicin.

With the combination of Urosept and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, the probability of developing a convulsive syndrome may increase.

Anti-acid and Sucralfate impair the absorption of Urosept, so the gap between the use of such drugs should be about 2.5 hours.

The combination with aminoglycosides results in a synergistic antimicrobial effect.
