Most alcoholics do not admit to problems and deny their dependence on alcohol. Almost everyone is sure that they can give up at any time, but at the moment there is no reason to refuse another bottle, despite tears, despair and threats from loved ones.
Treating alcoholism without the patient's knowledge is considered the last step that relatives and loving people take before finally giving up.
However, such an approach, even if it is for the sake of saving a person, is illegal, since treatment for alcohol addiction should only be carried out with the consent of the person, otherwise he has every right to file a lawsuit.
Often people are treated with folk medicine, but some herbs can be harmful to health, in particular, they can cause an exacerbation of chronic diseases, so you should approach the choice of medicines more carefully and it is better to consult a doctor before starting treatment.
Often, treatment with folk methods has a short-term effect, the craving for alcohol returns and the person begins to drink, often even more than before.
It is also worth noting that, according to experts, almost any method is effective if the patient himself recognizes the problem and wants to get rid of the addiction.
Traditional treatment of alcoholism without the patient's knowledge
The problem of alcoholism has existed for a long time, so there are many methods among the people that help rid a person of the painful addiction. Almost all folk medicine is aimed at causing a negative reflex to the taste and smell of alcohol, reducing the painful craving.
It is possible to use such treatment without consent, but in this case it is important that the person does not find out about it, otherwise he will become distrustful, angry and then it will be much more difficult to save him.
Treatment of alcoholism without the patient's knowledge must be carried out in strict accordance with the recipe. Many plants are contraindicated in diseases of the heart, kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, hypertension, any mental or nervous disorders, so it is recommended to consult a doctor before choosing one or another recipe.
It is also worth remembering that folk methods have a temporary effect, since complex therapy, including consultations with a psychotherapist, is necessary to get rid of alcoholism. Alcoholism is considered a mental illness, the craving for alcohol remains in the patient's subconscious, so herbs and other folk remedies can only temporarily cause an unwillingness to drink, especially if the patient himself does not want to quit the bad habit.
In addition, a number of herbal infusions help to effectively relieve hangover symptoms and improve a person’s condition after a long binge.
People usually use infusions and decoctions of various herbs, dung mushrooms, green bugs, spells and prayers.
The dung mushroom is considered to be quite an effective remedy in the treatment of alcoholism.
The treatment is quite simple - mushrooms can be cooked in any way (boiled, fried, stewed) and fed to the patient. Their taste is almost indistinguishable from champignons, so there will be no suspicion on the part of the person.
Mushrooms prevent the breakdown of alcohol, which causes symptoms of severe poisoning (it is worth noting that mushrooms are harmless to human health).
Symptoms of poisoning last for several days, during which the person cannot consume alcohol.
Tincture of red pepper also causes intense vomiting and aversion to alcoholic beverages.
To prepare such a tincture, you will need 1 tbsp. of ground red pepper and 0.5 l of alcohol (60%). After two weeks, the product is ready for use - 2-3 drops of infusion per bottle of vodka.
Another good remedy for getting rid of a bad habit is considered to be kefir whey, which helps remove toxins and decay products from the body, reduce the painful craving for alcohol, and strengthen the body's defenses. By the way, whey is good for the health of not only alcoholics.
To prepare, you will need 1 liter of kefir (3.2%), flour from wheat, oats, barley, rye, semolina and buckwheat (crushed) - 40 g each, 8 liters of water.
Infuse the mixture in an enamel pan for 3 days (at 240C), strain and give the patient about 600-700 ml per day, regardless of food intake.
Green forest bugs are an original folk method that helps to cause a long-term aversion to alcohol.
The recipe requires 15-30 bedbugs, which must be placed in a bottle of vodka and left to infuse for 2-3 days.
Just 50g of vodka causes severe vomiting and a long-term reluctance to drink (the effect can last from several months to several years).
You can also use powder from the shells of boiled crayfish to form a lasting aversion to alcoholic beverages.
The powder is added to food (2 teaspoons with food) every time during a “drunken” feast.
The powder causes severe vomiting after each glass consumed, a decrease in cravings for alcohol and aversion is formed after 3-10 drinks.
In addition to infusions and decoctions, you can try spells and prayers. Such remedies are usually used by relatives, reading themselves or turning to the help of "grandmothers".
The most powerful prayer is considered to be the prayer to St. Boniface “From drunkenness”, you can also read prayers and spells in the church in front of the icon of the Mother of God “Inexhaustible Chalice”.
Also used are conspiracies, read over a person during sleep, which are a kind of "coding", it is believed that this method effectively helps to cope with a painful habit. Experts note that such conspiracies during sleep can really help, since at this time there is a direct impact on the subconscious (something like hypnosis).
Sour apples (about 1 kg per day), a decoction of bearberry leaves (80 g per 200 ml of water, drink 1 tbsp. 5 times a day), mint drops (10 g of mint per 200 ml of vodka, leave for a week) also help reduce the painful craving for alcohol. To reduce severe hangover symptoms, you can use cucumber brine (for greater effect, you can add crushed garlic and a pinch of black pepper), sauerkraut brine.
Treatment of alcoholism without the patient's knowledge
Treatment of alcoholism without the patient's knowledge is necessary when a person denies his addiction to alcohol and does not want to accept help from loved ones or undergo treatment. It is worth noting that this approach to treatment is quite specific, but with desire and persistence, you can bring a person out of binge drinking and return him to normal life. Another advantage of treating an alcohol addict without his knowledge is the low cost, since the cost of specialist services and expensive drugs is excluded.
The main means of such treatment are infusions and decoctions of medicinal herbs, insects, etc., which in most cases cause severe vomiting after a dose of alcohol, thereby forming a negative attitude towards alcoholic beverages in a person.
Also, special medications can be used for treatment to help overcome harmful addiction.
Drugs for the treatment of alcoholism without the patient's knowledge
Among the medications that help in the fight against alcoholism, there are several groups that differ in their action:
- relieving hangover symptoms and the condition during recovery from a long binge
- reducing cravings for alcohol
- forming a negative attitude towards alcohol at the reflex level
Medichronal, Alka-Seltzer, etc. help alleviate or completely eliminate hangover symptoms.
There is only one drug on our market to reduce the painful craving for alcohol – Proproten 100, however, the drug helps only in 50% of cases.
Drugs that cause a negative attitude towards alcoholic beverages are the most effective in combating the bad habit of a loved one, but treating alcoholism without the patient’s knowledge with such drugs without the supervision of a specialist can provoke a number of undesirable consequences.
The most common drug in this group is Teturam (France), relatively inexpensive and quite effective. Teturam contains substances that block the breakdown of alcohol and convert ethyl alcohol into a toxic compound - acetaldehyde.
While taking the drug, an alcoholic experiences intense vomiting, headache, and tachycardia after another drink. Over time, this reaction to alcohol forms a negative reflex to alcohol, but, unfortunately, the drug has a short-term effect.
The domestic analogue of Tetauram is Esperal, which is more purified and has fewer side effects.
In terms of pharmacological properties, Esperal is practically no different from Tetauram.
Another drug from this group is Lidevin, which also contains disulfiram, which converts ethyl alcohol into a toxic compound.
Lidevin also contains vitamins and substances that help cleanse the body and improve the functioning of the nervous system.
In the Spanish drug of this group, Colme, instead of disulfiram (a fairly toxic substance), cyanamide is used, which causes strong unpleasant sensations when drinking alcohol.
This drug is non-toxic, harmless and quite effective, the only drawback is the high price (a course of treatment will cost around 1000 UAH).
Herbs for the treatment of alcoholism
Herbs are the most common and cheapest way to get rid of alcohol addiction. Herbs can cause a strong deterioration in health after another glass, so a person's natural self-defense mechanism is triggered - the fear of death overcomes the desire to drink.
There are a great many recipes with medicinal herbs, among which we can highlight:
- Veratrum lobelii tincture – contains alkaloids in large quantities, which cause symptoms of intoxication when taken simultaneously with alcohol. This remedy should be used with caution and the dosage should be observed. Usually, only 5-6 drops are enough for 500 ml of vodka to provoke a decrease in pressure, severe weakness, nausea and vomiting.
- Buckthorn laxative - also widely used to treat alcohol addicts. To prepare a decoction, you need 15-20 berries and 200 ml of water, boil over low heat for about 20 minutes. For a bottle of vodka, 2 tablespoons are enough - after which the person will begin to have severe diarrhea.
- Green tea is considered the easiest cure for alcoholism and at the same time little known. Treating alcoholism without the patient's knowledge is also simple - when brewing black tea, add 4-5 green tea leaves, and add steamed leaves to food. After about 3 weeks, a person develops an aversion to alcohol.
Treating alcoholism with thyme without the patient's knowledge
In folk medicine, thyme or creeping thyme is used to treat many diseases, but few people know that thyme effectively helps to get rid of alcohol addiction.
In certain doses, thyme and alcohol simultaneously cause intense vomiting and a sharp deterioration in health, which discourages the desire to drink for a long time.
To prepare the decoction, you will need 15 g of the herb and 0.5 l of hot water. Simmer the mixture in a water bath for 15 minutes, then strain and add hot water to the original volume (0.5 l).
The alcoholic should be given the decoction several times a day, 50-70 ml at a time.
Thyme contains thymol, which causes alcohol intolerance and provokes severe vomiting.
The course of treatment is 7-14 days. During this time, the body develops an aversion to alcohol.
To enhance the effect, after each intake of the decoction, the alcoholic needs to be given a little vodka (20-30g), which will provoke a deterioration in health and contribute to the formation of a negative reflex to alcohol.
It is recommended to give freshly prepared decoction daily.
In addition to the decoction, you can give a person tea made from thyme, wormwood and centaury.
To prepare the medicine, take 4 tablespoons of thyme, 1 tablespoon of centaury, 1 tablespoon of wormwood and mix everything, then pour 1 tablespoon of the resulting mixture with 200 ml of boiling water and let it brew for several minutes.
This tea should be given in small portions several times a day for 3-4 months, then after a 30-day break the treatment can be repeated.
Usually, after 2 weeks, a person develops an aversion to any alcoholic beverages.
Another effective remedy is a decoction of thyme and oregano.
Pour 2 tablespoons of herbs into 0.5 liters of boiling water, simmer for 10 minutes over low heat and leave for half an hour. If intoxicated, give a person 1 glass of the decoction, then after 2 hours give the rest to drink.
Treatment of alcoholism without the patient's knowledge using thyme is contraindicated in cases of thyroid disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, ulcers, and pulmonary tuberculosis.
Tablets for the treatment of alcoholism
Treatment of alcohol addicts with the help of pills is also widely used for self-solving the problem.
Unlike folk methods, the tablets act faster and cause an aversion to alcohol, relieve hangover symptoms, and reduce the craving for drinking.
Today there are drugs that differ in their mode of action:
- form an aversion to alcohol (Teturam, Esperal, Torpedo),
- reduce cravings for alcoholic beverages (Proproten 100, Metadoxil, Acamprostat),
- eliminate hangover symptoms
- normalize the functioning of the nervous system
- reduce the feeling of euphoria after drinking ethanol
Teturam tablets cause aversion to alcohol and are used for chronic alcoholism, as well as for prevention.
Prescribed dose is 1-3 tablets per day, after 7-10 days an alcohol test is required, based on the results of which the need for further treatment is determined.
Cyamide increases the level of acetaldehyde in the blood, is similar in pharmacological action to Teturam, but has fewer side effects. While taking the pills, a person develops an aversion to the smell and taste of alcohol. It is worth noting that Cyamide is best taken under medical supervision and before starting treatment, you need to endure a "sober period" (at least 12 hours).
Esperal also forms an aversion to alcohol; regular treatment with this drug leads to a persistent negative reaction of the body to alcohol - a person stops enjoying it, frequent vomiting and headaches occur.
Taking pills after a large dose of alcohol can disrupt the cardiovascular system, causing swelling and cramps. In this case, you should seek immediate medical attention.
The course of treatment is 7-10 days (1 tablet per day). After treatment, an alcohol test is required, after which the need for further treatment is determined (increase or decrease in dosage).
Acamprosate (also Campral) reduces the craving for alcohol, is not addictive, and blocks the feeling of euphoria after another drink.
Used for chronic alcoholism, contraindicated for liver and kidney diseases, hangover syndrome.
The course of treatment is at least 12 months, you need to take 2-4 tablets 3 times a day.
Proproten 100 has undergone a number of tests and trials, and is used to improve the condition after a binge. It is usually prescribed by specialists for chronic alcohol addiction to prevent breakdowns.
For prevention, you need to take 1-2 tablets per day, the course of treatment is 2-3 months, in other cases from 4 to 20 tablets per day, depending on the condition.
Metadoxil in tablet form reduces severe symptoms of hangover and acute alcohol intoxication, cleanses the body of toxins. The substances included in the drug can cause a strong allergic reaction.
Barrier - helps eliminate both physical and mental dependence on alcohol, normalizes metabolic processes in tissues. Usually prescribed to reduce hangover symptoms, in chronic alcohol addiction.
The tablets are contraindicated in cases of liver and kidney dysfunction, thyroid gland dysfunction, diabetes, epilepsy, nervous or mental illnesses, and they are also not used to treat pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Like other means, tablets have certain advantages and disadvantages. Among the advantages, one can highlight a quick therapeutic effect, temporary refusal from alcohol consumption. Tablets are sold in pharmacies, they can be secretly added to food or drinks, but during the treatment, strong reactions of the body may occur, which can even lead to death.
If the dosage is exceeded, severe intoxication is possible, also during the intake of pills, if a person drinks too much alcohol, myocardial infarction, severe mental disorders and other serious conditions may develop.
With long-term treatment, the active substance accumulates, poisoning the body and worsening the quality of life.
The pills have a temporary effect and a person can break down at any moment, which requires repeated treatment.
Treating alcoholism without the patient's knowledge using pills will help a person give up the bad habit only for a certain period of time. Alcoholism is a psychological addiction and without the person's awareness of the problem, any means will be ineffective.
Drops for the treatment of alcoholism without the knowledge of the patient
There are three types of drops for alcoholism:
- forming a feeling of disgust towards the taste of alcohol
- reducing the harmful craving for alcoholic beverages
- forming alcohol intolerance
The drops Proproten 100, Vitael, Kolme, Teturam, Esperal, Antiethyl, Koprinol, etc. are available for sale.
Coprinol is a rather expensive drug, which some experts classify as a dietary supplement, some as a vitamin complex. It is almost impossible to buy Coprinol in a pharmacy, the drug is distributed mainly through a dealer network.
The product is not registered in the state register and information about it is limited.
The composition includes the dung mushroom, which is considered an effective folk remedy for the treatment of alcohol addiction.
You need to take 2 ml per day, after which the person develops an aversion to any type of alcoholic beverage.
It is worth noting that Coprinol has a destructive effect on the liver.
The drug is available in single-dose vials that can be added to food or drinks. During treatment, drinking alcohol is not recommended; a person should eat a balanced diet (it is advisable to increase the amount of vegetables, fruits, and fermented milk products).
Colme is an effective drug that has virtually no side effects, but has a number of contraindications (mainly heart, liver, and kidney diseases).
When taken with alcohol, it causes severe reddening of the skin, increased pulse, decreased blood pressure, weakness, sweating, and vomiting. The severity of the symptoms depends on the dose consumed; the more a person drinks, the stronger the effect will be.
Treatment can only be started 12 hours after the last alcohol consumption, preferably after a full examination, 12-25 drops are prescribed 2 times a day.
With continuous use, it is necessary to regularly check the thyroid gland.
Drops can be mixed into food or drinks in the morning and evening; the recommended dose should not be exceeded (optimally 15 drops).
The drug has no taste or smell, so it can be freely used for treatment without a person’s knowledge.
Kolme starts to act in about 1 hour and the effect lasts 12 hours, the course of treatment is 3 months.
Proproten 100 drops are mainly used when coming out of a drinking binge to reduce hangover symptoms.
The drug helps to normalize sleep, the digestive system, reduce irritability, mental stress, and relieve headaches.
To get rid of alcohol addiction, it is recommended to take other medications.
Death may occur after treatment, so it is recommended to consult a specialist before starting treatment.
To take, dilute 10 drops in 15 ml of water; the drug should not be taken during meals.
Drops can be freely given to an alcoholic, as they improve the patient's well-being and almost any alcoholic will not refuse them.
The effect of anti-alcohol drops on the body:
- coprinol - contains the mushroom coprinus, which causes symptoms of intoxication (reddening of the skin, fever, increased heart rate, vomiting, etc.). The drug forms in a person an aversion not only to the smell and taste of alcohol, but also to the sight of any alcoholic beverages. During treatment, temporary problems with vision and speech may occur. The therapeutic effect is based on the fear of the appearance of unpleasant symptoms after another glass, quite often people completely refuse to drink alcohol.
- kolme - at a reflex level forms an aversion to alcohol
- Proproten 100 has a different principle of action - the main effect occurs on the area of the brain responsible for pleasure, as a result the desire to drink decreases.
After taking it, your mood improves and the harmful craving for alcohol decreases.
Almost all anti-alcohol drops make a person intolerant to alcohol. Special substances convert alcohol into acetaldehyde, which acts as a strong toxin and causes a number of unpleasant symptoms after a dose of alcohol - increased pulse, decreased blood pressure, weakness, vomiting, after which a person begins to fear for his life.
Side effects associated with treatment with drops include chest pain, redness of the skin, nausea, sweating, and decreased blood pressure.
The severity of the side effects depends on the amount of alcohol consumed, such a condition can last on average about an hour, after which a gradual improvement in the condition occurs. If a person completely refuses alcohol during treatment, the body's reaction will be less acute.
In addition, after taking it, a person may feel tired and sleepy.
Taking drops is contraindicated in diabetes mellitus, neuropsychiatric disorders, epilepsy, heart disease, vascular disease, kidney or liver dysfunction.
Treating alcoholism without the patient's knowledge, as already mentioned, is the last step of desperate relatives. Usually, such measures are taken if a person refuses qualified help and is confident that he can at any time independently refuse such a lifestyle.
Most often, relatives mix purchased tablets, drops or decoctions of medicinal herbs into food or drink. In most cases, all these means contribute to a sharp deterioration in the condition after a small dose of alcohol, which forms a negative reflex to the taste and smell of alcohol.
Experts believe that such treatment is dangerous for the health of an alcoholic. Medicinal drugs and medicinal herbs have a number of contraindications, and a person suffering from alcohol addiction may have a number of chronic diseases that may worsen during treatment. In addition, the craving for alcohol is formed in a person at the subconscious level, so after any means, a person may sooner or later return to the bad habit.
