Varicose vein treatment pills can be divided into 2 categories: drugs (LS) that thin the blood, i.e. inhibit platelet aggregation and improve blood rheology (anticoagulants), as well as drugs that help strengthen the walls of blood vessels. It should be noted that during therapy it is most effective to use both types of drugs - a comprehensive approach will be more effective. Varicose vein pills are considered the most popular method of drug treatment of this disease.

Release form

The pills for varicose veins that exist today can be divided into several groups:

  • Phlebotonics, which include Detralex, as well as Phlebodia and Venarus;
  • Anticoagulants - such as aspirin and Cardiomagnyl;
  • Medicines that prevent the development of edema: Venosmin;
  • Antiplatelet agents – this category includes Curantil and acetylsalicylic acid;
  • Preparations that remove skin hyperpigmentation: Ginkor-fort or Actovegin;
  • Antioxidants, which include Ascorutin;
  • Fibrinolytics, which include Heparin.

Detralex

Detralex is quite effective in eliminating varicose veins - the drug has venotonic properties, and in addition, it promotes stable operation of venous valves in a unidirectional blood flow and improves the function of lymph drainage. The drug also reduces capillary permeability and eliminates inflammation. In case of systematic use of tablets, the degree of varicose veins on the legs decreases. Taking the drug allows you to remove the clinical signs of venous insufficiency - pain in the lower extremities, swelling and a feeling of heaviness and impaired sensitivity.

Phlebodia

Flebodia 600 tablets help reduce the degree of vascular permeability, increase the tone of capillary walls, while preventing them from expanding, and normalize blood flow. The active substance of the drug is diosmin. The drug also has anti-inflammatory properties.

Venarus

Venarus based on diosmin and hesperidin is very effective in the early stages of varicose veins. This drug has virtually no contraindications, so it is considered safe. In case of varicose veins, phlebologists recommend treatment with seasonal courses of the drug. Venarus is prescribed in case of problems with blood circulation in the vessels. It has a beneficial effect on dilated veins, removes spider veins and slows down the development of thrombophlebitis.

Troxevasin

Troxevasin contains the active ingredient troxerutin, which helps stabilize the walls of blood vessels.

The drug copes well with the inflammatory process, reduces capillary permeability, and also has a venotonic effect and removes swelling. It is usually prescribed for chronic venous insufficiency, as it allows you to eliminate cramps and pain, reduce swelling and the severity of varicose ulcers and trophic disorders.

The properties of tablets for varicose veins are discussed using the drug Phlebodia as an example.

Pharmacodynamics

The tablets have a phlebotonic effect (reduce the extensibility of veins and increase their tone (depending on the dosage), and also reduce venous congestion). In addition, they increase the frequency of contraction and tone of lymphocapillary vessels, reducing lymphatic pressure and increasing their functional density. The drug also increases the stability of capillaries (depending on the dosage), reducing the permeability of their walls. At the same time, it reduces the adhesion of leukocytes to the wall of the veins, as well as their movement into the paravenous spaces. Phlebodia improves perfusion in skin tissues and oxygen diffusion, and also has anti-inflammatory properties. It helps to increase the vasoconstrictor effect of norepinephrine and adrenaline, prevents the production of free radicals, and in addition, the combination of thromboxane and PG.

Pharmacokinetics

The drug is quickly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, and enters the plasma 2 hours after taking the tablet. It reaches its maximum saturation in the blood plasma 5 hours after use. It is uniformly concentrated and distributed in the layers of the hollow venous walls, as well as the subcutaneous veins on the legs; a smaller amount remains in the lungs, as well as the kidneys with the liver and other tissues. Selective accumulation of the substance diosmin, as well as / or its decay products in the venous vessels reaches its maximum 9 hours after taking the tablet and continues to persist for another 96 hours. Phlebodia is excreted through the kidneys (79%), as well as the intestines (11%) and bile (2.4%).

Dosing and administration

Ascorutin tablets are usually taken three times a day, 2 capsules after meals. The dosage can also be prescribed by a doctor individually. The course is 2 weeks, after which you need to take a break for a similar period, and then resume taking the drug.

Detralex is prescribed in a dosage of 2 tablets/day. At first, they should be taken in the morning and evening with food. After 7 days of such intake, it is allowed to switch to taking 2 tablets at a time.

Phlebodia 600 at an early stage and in the absence of various complications should be taken 1 tablet 1 time per day for 2 months. If the disease is of moderate severity, the medicine is taken for 3 months. If trophic ulcers and nodes are observed with venous dilation, the treatment course lasts at least six months.

Actovegin should be taken 2 tablets three times a day before meals with water.

Troxevasin tablets should be taken with food. On average, 600 mg of the drug (2 tablets) is allowed per day. If necessary, the dosage is increased. For maintenance treatment, 1 tablet/day is taken for 3-4 weeks.

Some pills for varicose veins can be taken during pregnancy with certain restrictions. For example, Troxevasin in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters is allowed to be used only in cases where the benefit to the mother is higher than the possible risk to the baby. And the drug Detralex can only be used in the 3rd trimester.

Contraindications

Contraindications to the use of drugs for varicose veins include: pregnancy in the first trimester, lactation period, ulcer of the duodenum or stomach, exacerbation of chronic gastritis. In case of hypersensitivity to the elements of the drug - for example, Troxevasin should not be taken if the patient has an intolerance to rutosides, and Detralex with sensitivity to diosmin. Effective pills for varicose veins

When treating varicose veins, tablets are not the main treatment tool, but it is obvious that they have a certain effect - being an integral part of the overall complex therapy.

Nowadays, there are many different venotonic drugs on sale, but most of them have similar components and medicinal properties. Therefore, their effectiveness mainly depends on how the active substance is absorbed by the body and what its concentration in the blood is. In case of varicose veins, venotonics that strengthen the walls of blood vessels, as well as drugs that thin the blood and prevent the formation of blood clots, are effective.
