Last reviewed: 04.07.2025

Psoriasis is a systemic dermatological pathology characterized by the appearance of pink-red, raised above the surface, areas of skin with scaly peeling. The causative agent or factor provoking the onset of the disease is unknown. In the affected areas of the skin, the cells of the basal layer of the epidermis begin to divide intensively. It is tens of times higher than the norm. The cells do not have time to mature, which leads to their inferiority and loss of intercellular communication. As a result, the skin tissue loses density, elasticity and becomes sensitive to the slightest injury, and the surface of the pathological area is covered with whitish-gray scales. The immune system reacts to the skin segments affected by psoriasis by the appearance of an inflammatory focus, swelling and redness.
Treatment of psoriasis is reduced to minimizing the manifestations of symptoms: itching, soreness and reducing the area of the lesion. Various special anti-inflammatory and exfoliating creams, ointments, gels are widely used. Preparations are used whose action is based on the antiphlogistic properties of various medicinal plants.
