The powder is prepared from the flowers, leaves and needles of the plant, as well as from its underground parts. It is distinguished by its brown color, has a weak specific smell and is somewhat bitter in taste.

The powder composition is represented by cyclamen saponins. When hydrolyzed, it is split into amorphous sapogenin cyclamiretin and sugar, as well as dextrose, pentose, cyclose, leulosin and polysaccharide cyclomasin.

Another form in which this drug is often offered by the manufacturer is capsules. As a rule, Salkhino in capsules in the amount of 90 pieces is placed in an orange glass bottle. Or the material from which the bottle is made can be polymer. The packaging for such a bottle is a cardboard box, inside which, in addition to it, a folded sheet with a description of the drug and instructions for its use is inserted.

Each 200-milligram capsule contains 120 mg of above-ground parts of Georgian cyclamen and 80 mg of underground parts, respectively, inside the soluble shell. In addition, there are auxiliary substances - purified water, gelatin, titanium dioxide E 171, sodium lauryl sulfate and acetic acid.

In various cases, in relation to each specific person who is indicated for the treatment of Salkhino, one or another medicinal form of this drug may be the most acceptable.

Pharmacodynamics

The therapeutic effect produced by the drug is due to the combined pharmacological action of the components of the crushed parts of cyclamen.

The most thoroughly studied of them are the titrepene plant saponins. They are represented by four types of pentacyclic terpenoids: -α- and ß-amyrin triterpene, lupeol triterpene and friedelin triterpene. Among them, in addition, some triterpene saponins with a structure characteristic of tetracyclic triterpenes stand out.

Pharmacodynamics of Salkhino consists in actualization of its antiseptic, antibacterial, wound-healing and anti-inflammatory properties. Positive effect of Salkhino after its entry into the human body also consists in reduction of the degree of expression of hyperemia phenomena occurring in the focus of the inflammatory process. This occurs as a result of launching the corresponding mechanisms leading ultimately to the fact that the capillaries acquire higher resistance, there is a positive tendency to normalize their selective permeability. In turn, these processes cause a decrease in the output of blood plasma, and to the greatest extent - proteins from the capillaries into those tissues or cavities of the body that are subject to inflammation.

Pharmacokinetics

The pharmacokinetics of Salkhino have not been adequately studied at present.

Dosing and administration

The method of administration and dosage of Salkhino may vary depending on the dosage form of the drug in which it is most appropriate to use it for therapeutic or prophylactic purposes.

Capsules in a soluble shell for oral administration are prescribed one three times a day during meals. The duration of such a course of treatment is usually from 6 to 7 days. After this period, the daily dosage of this remedy is increased to 4 capsules: three times 20 minutes or half an hour before meals and one more dose immediately before going to bed. Each capsule is washed down with a glass of water.

If any discomfort occurs during treatment with the drug, you should continue taking the drug after or during meals. It is permissible to switch to twice-daily administration of the drug. You should consult a medical specialist about the possibility of increasing the dose.

Regarding the dosage regimen for pediatric patients, it should be noted that this issue has not been sufficiently studied.

Another way to use Salkhino is to prepare an infusion from the powder for this purpose. To do this, boil half a liter of water in an enamel container, let it boil for 1-2 minutes, remove the container from the heat and immediately add 1 g of powder, which is equal to the contents of one bottle. Then the infusion should be tightly covered and left to cool completely.

The resulting medicinal product is taken in the amount of one tablespoon before meals, 5 to 6 times during the day. If no negative effects caused by taking Salkhino are observed, the single dose can be increased to 50 ml and the frequency can be increased to 4-5 doses per day.

Salkhino infusion is used for skin diseases, as a means of healing purulent wounds, and also in cases of gynecological diseases. For its effective use in this regard, it is advisable to increase the concentration by two or more. That is, the infusion is prepared from 2 g (two bottles) with the same 500-milliliter volume of water.

The entire mammary gland with complicated mastitis is covered with tampons soaked in the infusion. As they dry out, they are replaced with new ones.

In the presence of external hemorrhoids, it is effective to use both tampons and lotions. Internal hemorrhoids involve the introduction of infusion microclysters.
