Sage leaves have useful and medicinal properties, due to which it is often used both for adjuvant therapy and for the treatment of many diseases. The leaves contain essential oils that have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects. In addition, sage contains vitamins P, B1, C, phosphoric, nicotinic acids, flavonoids, camphor, tannins, etc. Sage tincture is mainly used as a local treatment (compresses, lotions, rinses).

Indications sage tincture

Sage tincture is used for inflammation of the upper respiratory tract, oral mucosa (gingivitis, stomatitis, etc.), throat, tonsils (tonsillitis, pharyngitis), as well as burns and injuries that are accompanied by infectious inflammation.

Release form

Sage tincture is available in special bottles with a transparent dark brown alcohol solution, the volume of each bottle is 40 ml. Over time, sediment may form in the tincture, which will not affect the therapeutic effect of the drug.

Sage tincture is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial drug, used mainly locally.

The substances contained in sage leaves have a fairly good anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, hemostatic effect locally. Sage tincture helps to reduce the unpleasant sensations that accompany the inflammatory process (pain, swelling, bleeding) in a fairly short time.

Dosing and administration

Sage tincture is intended for external use.

To prepare a solution for rinsing, dilute 1 teaspoon of tincture with a glass of warm water. Only fresh solution should be used for rinsing. The course of treatment is from 5 to 10 days, depending on the severity of the disease.

For local use (lotions, compresses, etc.), 20-60 drops of tincture should be diluted in half a glass of sodium chloride solution. The course of treatment is 1-2 weeks.

Use sage tincture during pregnancy

Due to the high probability of complications (increased tone, hormonal changes), sage tincture is contraindicated during pregnancy.

Contraindications

Sage tincture is contraindicated for use in case of strong sensitivity to the components of the drug, as well as in case of tendency to allergic reactions. It is also not recommended to use sage for pregnant women.

Sage tincture may cause an allergic reaction (rash, itching, redness of the skin) in case of hypersensitivity.

Overdose

Sage tincture is used mainly locally, so the possibility of overdose is unlikely. In case of any undesirable symptoms (including general malaise, headaches), it is necessary to stop using the drug.

Storage conditions

Sage tincture should be stored in a place inaccessible to small children and well protected from direct sunlight. The optimal storage temperature is 8 - 15 0C. During storage, sediment may appear at the bottom, which will not affect the quality of the drug.

Shelf life

The shelf life of sage tincture is three years from the date of manufacture (indicated on the package). The drug cannot be used after the expiration date or stored in inappropriate conditions.
