Phytobene is a complex medicine that is used for local external processing. It is prescribed in case of pain in the area of muscles with joints. Drug activity is provided by the action of the constituent elements of drugs.

Indications Fitobena

It is used in case of injuries (including sports), muscle damage, bursitis, hematomas, tendovaginitis with tendinitis, and in addition, for injuries of the joints or periarticular systems (not affecting the epidermis), shoulder blade periarthrosis and shoulder epicondylitis. Appointed also in the case of neuralgia in the active phase.

Release form

The release of the drug is made in the form of a gel, inside tubes with a volume of 20, 40 or 100 g. Inside the box is 1 tube.

Pharmacodynamics

Dimethyl sulfoxide has an effect by inactivating hydroxyl radicals and improving metabolic processes within the zone of inflammation, and in addition reducing the rate of movement of nociceptive reactions within peripheral nerves. This component overcomes biological membranes and contributes to the simplification of resorption of other elements of drugs.

Heparin Na, by inactivating tissue biogenic amines, exhibits moderate anti-inflammatory activity, prevents blood clots, improves microcirculation, activates fibrinolytic parameters of the blood, and helps heal connective tissue by suppressing hyaluronidase.

Dexpanthenol inside the skin is transformed into B5-vitamin, which is included in the structure of coenzyme A and is an important element of oxidative and acetylating processes. Helping to improve metabolism, it stimulates the healing of damaged tissue.

Dosing and administration

Apply the medicine on the affected areas or around them (in the case of treatment of abrasions) should be a thin layer (for example, gel strip with a size of 3 cm is used for an area that is similar in size to the projection of the knee joint), evenly processing the epidermis and slightly rubbing it. You need to repeat this process 2-4 times a day.

Bandages made of an air-tight material can be used with the gel. The procedure for applying a bandage should be done after a large part of the substance is absorbed inside the epidermis (and alcohol, which is contained in the gel composition) is evaporated - after a few minutes.

During iontophoresis, a gel that has good contact characteristics and contains effective active elements complements the physiotherapeutic effect of ultrasonic waves.

The duration of therapy is selected for the patient individually - the doctor takes into account the drug effect of the gel and the intensity of the existing disease.

Use Fitobena during pregnancy

There is only limited information regarding the use of dimethyl sulfoxide in pregnant women, which is why it is forbidden to prescribe Fitobene during this period.

Dimethyl sulfoxide is able to stand out with mother's milk, so it is not used when breastfeeding.

Contraindications

The main contraindications:

  • severe intolerance to the components of the drug;
  • severe kidney / liver disorders;
  • AND;
  • severe problems with the function of the cardiovascular system (myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, which is pronounced, intense systemic atherosclerosis and stroke);
  • trophic ulcers affecting the lower limbs;
  • open, bleeding, or infected wound lesions;

Side effects Fitobena

Adverse symptoms associated with dimethyl sulfoxide activity are: adynamia, diarrhea, dizziness, dermatitis, insomnia, and bronchial spasm, as well as vomiting, headaches, nausea, and signs of intolerance, including angioedema, epidermal dryness, and rash. In addition, transient manifestations may occur in the form of itching, burning and redness at the treatment site and a mild garlic odor from the mouth. A taste disorder, sometimes developing immediately after using the gel, usually disappears after a few minutes.

Disturbances caused by the effect of dexpanthenol: erythema, eczema, allergic or contact dermatitis, itching, blistering and epidermal irritation, urticaria and rash.

Problems associated with the effect of heparin: epidermal rash or swelling, signs of intolerance and hemorrhage. Sometimes small vesicles, pustules or blisters may appear, quickly disappearing after stopping the use of Fitobene. In the case of processing large areas of the epidermis, systemic negative signs may occur.

Sometimes symptoms of allergy develop, including angioedema and urticaria.

If negative signs or other unusual symptoms appear, the medication should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted about subsequent treatment.

Interactions with other drugs

The use of heparin may cause prolongation of PTV parameters in persons who use anticoagulants for oral administration.

It is forbidden to combine Fitobene with topically applied substances - for example, with medicines that contain hydrocortisone, anticoagulants, tetracycline and salicylic acid.

Due to the ability of dimethyl sulfoxide to potentiate the specific effect and toxicity of individual medicinal substances, it is necessary to abandon the combined use of drugs with other topical medications.

Due to the presence of dimethyl sulfoxide in the composition of the drug, it is forbidden to use it together with sulindac (it is an NSAID agent), because it can provoke the development of severe toxic symptoms (polyneuropathy).

Dimethyl sulfoxide potentiates the activity of ethyl alcohol (and alcohol slows down the excretion of the drug), butadion, aspirin with insulin, quinidine, digitalis substances, antibiotics (among them monomitsin with streptomycin) and nitroglycerin, and in addition sensitizes the patient's body in relation to anesthetics.
