It must be said that preparations in the form of pastes and ointments, as well as cosmetic creams that help combat the problem of excessive sweating, are more trusted than tablets and solutions.

Teimurov's Paste

This paste belongs to the category of dermatological products used for mycosis of the feet, diaper rash in bedridden patients, such pathology as hyperhidrosis and simply increased sweating of a hereditary nature.

Pharmacodynamics. If you read its composition carefully, you can see several familiar names that we have already mentioned in our article: boric acid (antiseptic and fungistatic action), salicylic acid (antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory action), formaldehyde (disinfectant, antifungal and deodorizing action). Sodium tetraborate and hexamethylenetetramine show effects similar to boric acid and formaldehyde, and zinc oxide and lead acetate in addition to the antimicrobial effect provide an additional absorbent and astringent effect.

Although the pharmacokinetics of Teymurov paste has not been studied, it is assumed that the drug should not be used in chronic kidney diseases, acute inflammatory pathologies of the skin, subcutaneous tissue and soft tissues, spasmophilia and bronchial asthma. It is clear that the drug cannot be used in case of hypersensitivity to its components, as well as applied to damaged areas of the skin due to the risk of penetration of individual toxic components of the drug into the systemic bloodstream.

Contraindications to the use of Teymurov's paste are also pregnancy and lactation. The drug is not used in pediatric practice for the treatment of patients under 14 years of age.

Teymurov's paste is a serious drug that is characterized by certain side effects, especially since it contains several toxic substances. Most often, complaints are about local (skin irritation, accompanied by burning and peeling) and allergic (skin hyperemia, rash, anaphylaxis) reactions, nausea and headaches.

Long-term use of the drug in large doses leads to the appearance of signs of overdose: an increase in the described side effects, the appearance of vomiting and tinnitus; twilight of consciousness, stomach pain, diarrhea, rapid breathing are noted, and cardiac and renal failure develops.

Now about the good. If you apply Teymurov's paste 2 or 3 times a day to the armpit area for a certain period of time (discussed with your doctor), you may notice a decrease in sweating and the disappearance of unpleasant sweat odor.

In principle, if excessive sweating is not associated with diseases, it is enough to apply the preparation to clean, dry skin in a thin layer only once a day before going to bed. In the morning, the skin should be cleaned of the remains of the paste and lubricated with a cream that saturates the skin with moisture and nutrients.

It is not recommended to use Teymurov's paste during the daytime if you need to leave the house. Yes, the medicine contains a flavoring agent in the form of mint essential oil, so a pleasant smell is guaranteed for your armpits. But the paste itself can stain clothes, leaving not wet, but greasy marks on them, which is even more unaesthetic than sweat stains. In addition, removing these marks is quite difficult.

Interaction with other drugs. The paste should be applied to skin that has been previously cleansed of external agents.

All negative interactions of the drug are associated with salicylic acid, which is part of its composition. Drugs that are undesirable to use simultaneously with Teymurov's paste: NSAIDs, especially those containing acetylsalicylic acid, drugs based on benzoyl peroxide, vitamin A, methotrexate, some drugs for diabetics.

The described remedy for underarm sweating is stored at a temperature of up to 15 degrees for no more than one and a half years.

Despite all the effectiveness of Teymurov's paste, before using this product, you should think carefully whether it is safer than popular antiperspirants, if it contains formaldehyde and lead. In European countries, this miracle product has already been abandoned, despite the manufacturers' claim that the dosage of hazardous substances in the product is so small that it is not capable of causing much harm to the body. In principle, the same is said by the developers of modern antiperspirants, which does not make the latter more attractive in terms of their effect on the body.

Apparently, Teimurov's paste should be used only in cases of serious problems with sweating, when safer means do not produce results.

Lassar's Paste

This drug has another name - salicylic-zinc paste. The drug received this name due to the active ingredients included in its composition: salicylic acid and zinc oxide. As we can see, Lassar's paste has a more gentle composition, so it is widely used to treat various skin diseases, including acne, small wounds and diaper rash.

Pharmacodynamics. The action of the drug depends on the components included in its composition. We know that salicylic acid shows an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect, simultaneously reducing the secretion of sweat and sebaceous glands. Zinc oxide does not have a pronounced antimicrobial effect, but it has remarkable absorbent and astringent properties, which helps relieve inflammation at the site of application, typical of prickly heat.

Pharmacokinetics. External use of the drug almost completely eliminates the possibility of the active substances of the paste getting into the blood.

Lassar paste should not be used in the following cases:

  • if a person has been found to be intolerant to at least one of the components of the drug,
  • in case of acute purulent inflammation and deep damage to the skin at the site of application,

Caution should be exercised in case of ulcerative pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract, hemorrhagic diathesis, kidney pathologies with impaired functioning, anemia, poor blood clotting. It is not advisable to use Lassar paste during pregnancy and breastfeeding. We are talking not about a complete refusal of the drug, but about a short course of treatment with it for small areas of the body in the absence of damage to the skin, allowing the active components to penetrate into the blood.

In pediatrics, the use of the drug is limited due to insufficient information on the pharmacokinetics of the drug.

Side effects of the drug are limited to rare allergic reactions and local symptoms such as burning, itching, dry skin and rashes. If the drug is used on large areas of the body, more serious symptoms are possible: dizziness, fainting, convulsive syndrome, respiratory rhythm failure, etc.

Method of application and dosage for underarm sweating. Despite the fact that the instructions contain a clause about the undesirable use of salicylic-zinc paste on heavily wet areas of the body (and armpits are such), statistics show that this drug shows good results in the fight against hyperhidrosis, regardless of whether the feet or armpits sweat heavily.

The medicine should be applied to dry skin, free from dirt and various external agents (medicines, cosmetics, etc.). The ointment is applied to the skin 2, and sometimes 3 times a day. With the doctor's permission, the frequency of use of the medicine can be increased. The course of treatment should not be longer than a month.

The medicine contains starch and petroleum jelly, which can leave unsightly marks on clothing. Alternatively, you can purchase special pads that are attached to clothing in the armpit area.

When using Lassar paste, you need to remember about the negative interactions of salicylic acid with other drugs, described in the annotation to Teimurov paste, which also contains this component.

Store salicylic-zinc paste in a cool place away from sunlight. Under these storage conditions, the shelf life of the drug will be 4 and a half years.

Salicylic ointment

If suddenly there is no Lassar paste in the pharmacy, regular salicylic ointment with its antimicrobial action and ability to inhibit the activity of sweat glands will do to combat underarm sweating. Its action is softer compared to an alcohol solution of salicylic acid due to the inclusion of paraffin and the absence of such an irritant as alcohol.

To combat hyperhidrosis, a 2% ointment is sufficient, which is applied to clean, dry skin under the arms in the same way as zinc-salicylic paste, i.e. 2-3 times a day. In this case, you need to monitor the results and, if necessary, reduce the number of times the drug is applied per day.

The ointment can be used regularly for no more than 20 days, after which the condition should normalize or the doctor will prescribe another course of treatment after a break. If the ointment is used irregularly, the duration of its use should also be discussed with the doctor.

An overdose of the drug when applied locally is excluded, except for long-term use of the drug, and salicylic acid is not intended for oral administration.

When using salicylic ointment for any purpose, you need to pay attention to the drug interactions of the drug so as not to harm yourself.

It is recommended to store salicylic ointment at room temperature, protecting it from direct sunlight. The drug cannot be frozen. The shelf life of the ointment is 3 years.

Zinc paste and zinc ointment

These are 2 forms of one drug, actively used as a remedy for underarm sweating. They differ in auxiliary substances and the content of the active component. The ointment is made on the basis of paraffin, the paste - using starch and petroleum jelly.

The active substance of the paste and ointment is zinc oxide. Its content in the paste is 25%, in the ointment – 10%.

Pharmacodynamics. Preparations with zinc oxide can be considered the safest means against sweat. The active substance itself has sufficient antiseptic, astringent and drying effects, which are necessary for this problem. At the same time, zinc ointment is used for various skin pathologies, and the paste even for diaper dermatitis in infants, which once again speaks of the safety of the drug.

The drug is not used mainly in case of hypersensitivity to its composition. The ointment is not used to treat acute inflammations on the skin.

Method of administration and dosage. Zinc oxide ointment can be used on dry, clean skin of the armpits 2 or 3 times a day depending on the activity of the sweat glands. The duration of hyperhidrosis treatment is determined individually.

Zinc paste can be applied to the skin without negative consequences even more than 3 times a day, if necessary.

Both the ointment and the paste are applied to the skin in a thin layer and do not require rinsing, as they form a protective film that prevents irritation of the skin under the influence of negative factors, such as high humidity.

Preparations with zinc oxide rarely have side effects. This is possible only in case of individual intolerance to the components of the preparation or a tendency to allergic reactions.

Long-term use of the drug, as well as the use of large doses, do not lead to the accumulation of zinc oxide in the body, so there can be no talk of an overdose of drugs. Zinc oxide does not enter into significant interactions with other drugs, which means that it can be safely used as part of a comprehensive treatment of pathologies accompanied by excessive sweating to combat this unpleasant symptom.

Both forms of the drug are stored at room temperature. The permissible temperature limit is 25 degrees. The drugs cannot be frozen. The drug in the form of a paste can be stored for 5 years, in the form of an ointment - about 8 years.

Formaldehyde ointment

Another multi-component ointment based on boric and salicylic acid with the addition of formalin and glycerin. This ointment is recommended specifically for excessive sweating, regardless of the cause. The ointment has a pronounced antiseptic, softening and drying effect, reduces the activity of sweat glands, which significantly reduces the amount of sweat secreted and removes the unpleasant odor.

It is not recommended to use the drug if you are intolerant to at least one of the components of the drug, as well as in acute purulent pathologies with inflammation localized on the surface of the skin.

Side effects include irritation at the site of application of the ointment and allergic reactions due to hypersensitivity to the main or auxiliary substances.

Formaldehyde ointment is used to combat sweating only once a day. It is better to do this at night, after performing hygienic measures. How long to continue treatment with ointment should be consulted with a dermatologist.

Like other ointments, the preparation based on formalin, boric and salicylic acid should be stored in a cool place and used before the expiration date.

Cream "Lavilin"

This is no longer a pharmacy product, but a cosmetic product for excessive sweating, made from natural ingredients. The main active ingredients are arnica and calendula, which actively fight the smell of sweat by destroying pathogenic microorganisms. Castor oil and some other components of the cream help them in this. The cosmetic product also contains components that slightly reduce the activity of sweat glands, but do not lead to clogged pores.

The deodorant cream does not contain the aluminum salts we are used to, but it has a prolonged effect. Apply the cream to clean, dry skin without any other cosmetic or medicinal products no more than once a week. In some cases, the effect lasts even longer (up to 2 weeks).

It is important to understand that deodorant cream is designed not so much to reduce sweating as to combat the unpleasant smell of sweat. There is no point in applying it to the skin before the smell appears, this does not increase the effectiveness of the product.

It is not recommended to use the cream on damaged and irritated skin of the armpits, which happens after epilation. It is recommended to wait at least a day until the irritation subsides and only then use a natural deodorant in the form of a cream, applying a small drop of the product to the armpit area and distributing it to the desired distance.

Manufacturers recommend using cream deodorant at night to feel confident in the morning. But even with daytime use, there will be no visible marks on clothes.

If a person has previously used other deodorants, before applying a natural product for the first time, they will need to wait 3-4 days until the skin is cleared of any remaining cosmetics or medicinal ointments.

Antiperspirant cream Mirra Deo

This is an innovative cosmetic product made in Russia that removes the smell of sweat, reduces its secretion and actively cares for the delicate skin of the armpits. In this case, zinc ricinoleate, which is a completely safe substance with a deodorizing effect, is responsible for the freshness of the skin. But the antiperspirant properties (bacteriostatic effect and reduction of sweat secretion) are given to the cream by less useful substances: zirconium and aluminum compounds (the latter is not a novelty among antiperspirants).

Antiperspirant cream should be used as needed, without worrying about the cleanliness of clothes under your hands and in other places with increased sweat secretion, where you have to apply a deodorant and sweat-reducing agent.
