Paraproctitis - Treatment
Medical expert of the article
Last reviewed: 04.07.2025
Treatment of acute paraproctitis is carried out immediately after diagnosis - surgical. The main principles of surgical treatment:
- opening and drainage of the abscess;
- elimination of the internal opening through which the abscess cavity communicates with the rectum.
Treatment of all types of fistulas is surgical. The operation can be considered radical only if the internal opening in the rectum is eliminated during excision of the fistula tract.
