Release form

Tablets of 30 mg.

Pharmacodynamics

Due to the action of the active substance of the drug (second-generation sulfonylurea derivative), pancreatic islet β-cell receptors secreting insulin stimulate, which results in the release of endogenous insulin stores.

The extra-pancreatic action of all derivatives of sulfonylurea is to activate glycogen synthetase, a muscle tissue enzyme that catalyzes the breakdown of the reserve form of glucose in glycogen. As a result of the enhancement of glycogen phosphorolysis (during which ATP is formed) its utilization in the tissues of the body increases.

In addition, the active metabolite of Oziklida inhibits platelet aggregation, improves the rheological properties of the blood (preventing adhesion and aggregation of platelets) and its microcirculation, which helps prevent vascular complications of type II diabetes, such as microangiopathies (including retinal damage), stroke and myocardial infarction .

Pharmacokinetics

After oral administration, the oziklide is absorbed into the digestive tract and enters the bloodstream; the maximum concentration in the blood plasma is observed after 6-8 hours; approximately 94% of the active substance binds to blood plasma proteins.

The metabolism of the drug occurs in the liver; elimination of metabolites is carried out by the kidneys (with urine). The half-life of the biotransformation products of the drug lasts about 10 hours.

Dosing and administration

Method of application Oziklid - inside; the tablets are swallowed whole, during the morning meal. Individual dosage is determined by the doctor on the basis of glucose levels in the blood.

The recommended initial dose is 30 mg. The standard single dose ranges from 30 to 120 mg; the maximum allowable daily dose of the drug is 120 mg.

During the period of application of Oziklid, it is necessary to observe a low-calorie diet with restriction of carbohydrates (since glucose is the main metabolite of their metabolism in the body) and to control blood glucose level during the day.

Overdose

When Ozlikid overdoses, hypoglycemic coma, convulsions, loss of consciousness, requiring emergency medical treatment with hospitalization, are possible.

If a person is in a conscious state, you need to give him 50 g of sugar, with a loss of consciousness 40% glucose solution (50 ml) is administered intravenously (fast). Then a dropper with 5% glucose solution is put.

Interactions with other drugs

The use of Ozlikid is incompatible with:

  • ethanol and alcohol-containing preparations,
  • miconazole and fluconazole,
  • sulfonamides,
  • tetracycline,
  • non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs),
  • antithrombotic agents of indirect action,
  • cardiac glycosides,
  • antihypertensive, antiarrhythmic and antianginal agents of the β-adrenoblocker group.

Efficiency Oticlide reduces the simultaneous use of glucocorticosteroids (including for external use), barbiturates and diuretic drugs. The action of Ozlikid strengthens the analgesic and antipyretic drugs of the pyrazolone group.
