Ovidon is a combined hormonal contraceptive based on synthetic substances that are analogs of female sex hormones - progesterone and estradiol. Other trade names of this drug: Ovosept, Anteovin, Microgynon 30, Miniziston, Oralcon, Rigevidon, Trigestrel, etc.

Since the active substances of Ovidon – like the drug Ovosept – are the gestagen levonorgestrel (a synthetic analogue of progesterone, which is produced by the corpus luteum of the female ovaries and the adrenal cortex) and the analogue of follicular estradiol – ethinyl estradiol, the pharmacodynamics of Ovidon are identical to the drug Ovosept.

That is, all drugs with these active ingredients have the same contraceptive mechanism, the main principle of which is blocking ovulation by reducing the level of luteinizing hormone production by the pituitary gland.

Likewise, the indications and contraindications for the use of Ovidon, the method of its use and dosage, side effects, interactions with other drugs are completely identical to the drug Ovosept.
