Neuroplant is a drug from the pharmaceutical subcategory of antidepressants. It has a plant origin, helps in the treatment of various disorders associated with the functioning of the autonomic nervous system, and also the central nervous system.
The active ingredient of the medicine is an extract of common St. John's wort. The medicine helps to improve mood and psycho-emotional state, has antidepressant activity. The tablet of the drug contains 0.3 g of the active medicinal component (St. John's wort).

It is used for psychovegetative disorders, depression, anxiety, and also for severe nervous tension and weakened physical condition.

Pharmacodynamics
It is believed that the drug can suppress the activity of MAO-A (mainly), as well as MAO-B (partially). Bioflavonoids synthesized with benzodiazepine endings have a sedative effect.
Neuroplant helps improve mood, increases a person’s physical and mental performance, and also stabilizes sleep.
The antidepressant effect of the drug develops due to its ability to slow down the processes of reverse serotonin, dopamine and adrenaline uptake.
Dosing and administration
The size of a single dosage portion is 0.3 g. The medicine must be taken 3 times a day (thus, the daily dosage is 0.9 g).
To achieve a noticeable improvement in the symptoms of the disease, a therapy lasting 1 month is required. If there is no result after this period or the condition worsens, even if the drug was taken according to the instructions, it is necessary to consult a doctor.
The medication is taken orally, the tablets do not need to be chewed - they are swallowed with plain water. The use of the drug is not tied to food intake.

Because experience with the use of the drug during breastfeeding or pregnancy is extremely limited, it is not prescribed during these periods.
Contraindications
Main contraindications:
- use with HIV protease inhibitors, cyclosporine or indinavir;
- enhanced photosensitivity.

Overdose
Phototoxic symptoms may develop in case of drug intoxication. In case of such a disorder, it is necessary to avoid exposure to UV radiation and sunlight for 7 days (stay outside as little as possible, wear closed clothing and use sunscreens with a high protection factor). If phototoxic signs appear on the skin, symptomatic procedures are carried out.
There are also reports of confusion or seizures occurring when consuming 4.5 g of dry extract per day for 14 days, and an additional 15 g of the substance before hospitalization. In addition, sometimes there was an uncomfortable feeling in the liver and a bitter taste in the mouth.
Interactions with other drugs
Neuroplant can lead to a weakening of the therapeutic effectiveness of theophylline, normotriptyline, indinavir with coumarin anticoagulants, as well as cyclosporine with digoxin, midazolam and agents that inhibit the activity of HIV protease.
If oral contraception is used while taking the drug, additional contraceptive measures should be used.
Photosensitizing drugs potentiate the therapeutic properties of the drug.
Storage conditions
Neuroplant must be stored in a place closed to small children. Temperature values should not exceed 30°C.

Neuroplant can be used for a period of 36 months from the date of release of the therapeutic agent.
