Indications Iodine Flomed
It is used exclusively for external use. Indications for the use of Flomed iodine are most often minor household cuts, bruises, abrasions, small ruptures of soft tissues, in order to protect the wound from infection by pathogenic microbes and speed up the healing process.
The marker shape is extremely convenient for treating the smallest wounds and applying iodine grids for joint problems. Flomed iodine grid application is used to improve tissue trophism and local metabolism in acute respiratory diseases, lumbar radiculitis, osteochondrosis of the spine, ligament damage and muscle strain.
The preparation can be used by surgeons to treat small areas of the surgical field, for example, when removing furuncles, carbuncles, small inflammatory elements. It is used to reduce tissue edema and smooth out the symptoms of acute inflammation in myositis, neuralgia, arthritis, arthrosis due to its resolving and distracting properties.
Release form
Flomed iodine is produced in the form of a sealed felt-tip pen or pencil with an absorbent rod, in the amount of 12 pieces per package. The capacity of the marker body is 3 ml of 5% solution. 1 ml of solution contains 50 mg of iodine, 20 mg of potassium iodide, 95% ethyl alcohol and distilled water, it is a brown liquid with an inherent specific aroma.
Pharmacokinetics
In terms of its antiseptic activity, Flomed iodine is equivalent to other halogens, but due to its less pronounced volatility, its local action period is longer.
The distracting, irritating and cauterizing effect of Flomed iodine is due to the drug’s ability to coagulate the protein structure of tissues.
Flomed iodine is immediately absorbed into the skin after application, resulting in rapid stimulation of local metabolism.
Dosing and administration
The method of using Flomed iodine is exclusively external. Using a medical marker rod, iodine is applied in a continuous pattern to the damaged skin surface, outlining the outer edges of the wound to prevent pathogenic microflora from entering.
With the help of Flomed iodine it is convenient to draw the so-called "iodine grid". It is applied in case of inflammatory processes in joints, spine, in case of diseases of internal organs on the places of their projection. The grid is made as follows: on the necessary area of skin horizontal and vertical lines are drawn with the Flomed iodine marker at a distance of 1.5-2 cm from each other. The area of the applied grid should be slightly larger than the area of the affected organ.
Use Iodine Flomed during pregnancy
External use of Flomed iodine during pregnancy is allowed in small reasonable quantities. Application of iodine preparations to large areas of skin can lead to absorption of significant doses of the substance into the blood. Penetrating the placental barrier, the increased concentration of iodine can provoke the development of hyperthyroidism in the fetus. But in general, due to the lack of reliable information on the possibility of external use of Flomed iodine during pregnancy and breastfeeding, the appropriateness of using the drug should be approved by the attending physician.
Contraindications
A direct contraindication to the use of Flomed iodine is an absolute allergy and hypersensitivity to any iodine preparations in the anamnesis.
Flomed iodine should not be used on mucous membranes – they are more sensitive and a chemical burn of the tissue may occur. For the same reason, the preparation should not be allowed to come into contact with the eyes.
It is not recommended for use in cases of non-healing trophic ulcers and tuberculosis, urticaria and hemorrhagic diathesis, pustular skin diseases.

Side effects Iodine Flomed
Side effects when using Flomed iodine appear mainly due to increased sensitivity of the body to iodine preparations, or due to its incorrect or careless use.
Particular sensitivity manifests itself in the form of allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, skin rashes such as urticaria, local hyperemia, and in severe cases, a strong allergic reaction – neurodermatitis, erythema, Quincke's edema.
If undiluted alcohol iodine solution comes into contact with the mucous membrane, a burn of varying degrees is possible depending on the depth and area of the lesion.
Overdose
An overdose of Flomed iodine is unlikely and can manifest itself exclusively in the form of general and local allergic reactions: rhinitis, dermatitis, conjunctivitis, laryngitis, urticaria, local redness and irritation of the skin, Quincke's edema. In cases of overdose, it is necessary to immediately stop the body's contact with iodine, then act depending on the symptoms of the manifestations.
Interactions with other drugs
When using Flomed iodine, it is necessary to avoid simultaneous contact of this preparation with the skin and other bactericidal agents (hydrogen peroxide, chlorhexidine, medicinal substances containing silver). It is also recommended to exclude contact with proteolytic enzymatic agents for external use (caripazim), mercury preparations, ammonia in order to avoid possible chemical reactions on the skin.
Storage conditions
The Flomed iodine preparation is stored in a dry place at room temperature, avoiding heating and direct sunlight on the marker body. When closing the marker, pay attention to the tightness of the cap: a characteristic double click when pressed ensures a tight fixation of the cap to the body and prevents possible evaporation of the iodine substance and premature drying of the Flomed iodine marker.
Keep out of reach of children.
