Probably, many people are familiar with this condition when you wake up and feel exhausted, your head hurts, the thermometer is steadily moving up, your throat is dry and scratchy, an inexpressive dry cough appears, and your voice becomes somehow alien, rough and hoarse. All these are symptoms of a disease with a melodic name laryngitis, the essence of which is inflammation of the larynx, which is where all the unpleasant symptoms come from. The disease can be treated in various ways, but the most popular and useful method is considered to be inhalation, which doctors advise to do with the help of a device specially designed for this. Such attention to the device on the part of doctors is due to the fact that a nebulizer for laryngitis allows you to carry out the procedure carefully, without unnecessary irritating effect on the mucous membrane of the throat.

Effective treatment of laryngitis

So, laryngitis is an inflammatory process that has “settled” on the inner wall of the larynx. There are many reasons for this process: colds, infectious throat lesions, fungal infections, exposure to high temperatures and irritating chemical compounds that cause a burn of the mucous membrane. In addition, irritation of the throat with subsequent inflammation of the mucous membrane can be caused by too spicy food, highly carbonated drinks, regular inhalation of air with a high content of dust particles, too dry air.

The disease often develops against the background of voice strain, which is typical for singers, speakers and many public figures. Laryngitis in smokers is caused by the negative effect of nicotine on tissues, in ardent fans of alcoholic beverages - by the irritating effect of alcohol and some chemical additives. Pathology can also develop against the background of inflammatory pathologies of the esophagus and stomach, especially with increased acidity of the latter and with such a disease as reflux esophagitis, when the contents of the stomach are thrown back into the esophagus and throat, irritating the back wall of the larynx.

However, most often the disease develops against the background of weakened immunity in the form of an allergic reaction or an infectious process developing under the influence of bacteria and viruses (measles, whooping cough, acute respiratory viral infections, flu, etc.) that enter the body through the respiratory tract, as well as during prolonged exposure to cold, as a result of which we have a cold (ARI). Laryngitis can easily occur if the nasopharynx already has an inflammatory process that makes nasal breathing difficult, and therefore forces a person to breathe through the mouth. This is especially dangerous in the cold season, since it leads to hypothermia of the throat and larynx itself.

In its pure form, laryngitis is rare, except in cases of throat trauma. Most often, it acts as a symptom of other pathologies.

However, this condition has its own symptom complex, the relief of which is the focus of various therapeutic measures:

  • limitation of conversations, consumption of irritating food and drinks,
  • antiviral therapy using immunostimulants (if the cause is a viral infection),
  • antimicrobial and antifungal therapy using antibiotics and antifungal drugs (in the presence of a fungal or bacterial infection),
  • anti-inflammatory therapy with NSAIDs and herbal remedies,
  • anti-edematous therapy (in acute cases of the disease, injection of such drugs is indicated),
  • warming compresses (if there is no fever) on the throat and chest area,
  • regular gargling with antiseptic solutions and infusions,
  • inhalation therapy.

Here we come to the main topic of our conversation, the essence of which is the treatment of laryngitis with a nebulizer, which is used in inhalation therapy. But inhalations are assigned one of the main roles in the treatment of the inflammatory process in the larynx, which, in the absence of effective treatment, can subsequently spread to the bronchi or cause asphyxia (suffocation) due to spasm or swelling of the larynx.

Why inhalations? The thing is that with laryngitis, the inflammation is not located inside the body, but on the mucous membrane of the larynx. It is clear that the best effect in the treatment of such a disease will not be provided by systemic action, when the drug passes through the digestive system, is metabolized, partially enters the bloodstream and is delivered to the lesion only with the blood flow, but by local treatment, in which the drug is applied directly to the damaged mucous membrane and is absorbed 100% unchanged.

But applying the medicine to the mucous membrane of the larynx is not so easy, gargling alone will not do, because the particles of the medicine need to penetrate deeper, not just the nasopharynx. The only way to help the medicine penetrate into the larynx is by inhaling the medicine, the particles of which will be delivered to the affected area with air and settle on the inflamed mucous membrane of the larynx.

The word "inhalation" itself is unlikely to be new to an adult, because inhalation of medicinal vapors is practiced for many colds. However, not everyone knows how to carry out this procedure correctly, so as not to complicate the situation with additional irritation of the larynx walls. The fact is that the usual inhalations over hot water with various additives involve inhalation of steam of a fairly high temperature. And hot air and steam have an irritating effect on the bronchial mucosa, and even medicinal additives cannot soften it. Thus, the desired result from the procedure may not be achieved.

Inhalations with a nebulizer for laryngitis allow you to avoid this unpleasant moment, since the steam obtained with its help has a comfortable temperature for the throat. This means that a nebulizer for laryngitis provides a safer and more effective treatment compared to "old-fashioned" methods.

You can buy a nebulizer for home use by asking for the device at any pharmacy you like. Perhaps the price will unpleasantly surprise the buyer, but this device will make life much easier for him and his family during illness, providing full-fledged contactless effective treatment, which has much fewer side effects than taking chemical medications.

The whole point is that the nebulizer sprays particles of the medicine onto the surface of the mucous membrane of the throat and larynx, which means that even chemical solutions will have a lesser irritating effect on the digestive organs compared to drugs for oral administration. The penetration of drug components into the blood with this method of administration is minimal, which means that it allows you to avoid the negative impact of chemicals in the drug on many important internal organs and systems.

In addition, a nebulizer allows you to use not only synthetic drugs, but also relatively safe herbal remedies, soda solution, mineral water and many other liquid compositions used in the inhalation procedure. However, contrary to popular belief, it is not recommended to use herbal decoctions and infusions in a nebulizer, characterized by heterogeneity of composition and essential oils, since such drugs can provoke an inadequate response of the immune system (an allergic reaction, for example, in the form of the same swelling of the mucous membrane of the larynx).

Indications for the procedure

Inhalations, no matter how they are carried out, are a serious medical procedure. And, despite the availability of the method, which everyone can practice at home, it should be used strictly according to the doctor's instructions, so as not to aggravate the situation with good intentions.

Indications for the procedure are the appearance of corresponding symptoms indicating the development of laryngitis. These are sore and dry throat, increased body temperature, changes in the timbre and ringing of the voice, deterioration of the general condition, difficulty breathing, pressing dry cough. Inhalations are especially useful for relieving irritation in the throat (the first symptom), facilitating breathing and expectoration (the last 2 symptoms).

The practice of inhalation treatment in the initial stage of laryngitis, when sputum has not yet been removed, and the cough is considered especially painful, is indicative. Inhalations stimulate the removal of sputum by liquefying it and removing tissue edema (depending on the selected medicinal solutions), and coughing becomes easier.

Inhalations over a bowl of hot solution, which our mothers and grandmothers practiced, are gradually becoming a thing of the past, giving way to more progressive methods. The nebulizer device, which doctors advise every patient to purchase for laryngitis, is designed to facilitate the inhalation procedure, making it not only convenient, but also safe. In addition, inhalations with a nebulizer for laryngitis have a better effect than using a bowl of hot water and a towel on the head or steam inhalers.

In principle, a nebulizer will be useful not only for laryngitis, but also for inflammation in the throat (pharyngitis), bronchi (bronchitis), trachea (tracheitis). But if regular steam inhalations have a sufficient therapeutic effect for pharyngitis, since the main part of the medicinal solution settles in the throat, then for other pathologies, including laryngitis, deeper penetration into the respiratory tract is required. Only a nebulizer can provide such an effect, turning the inhalation solution into a medicinal aerosol, which is directed to the site of inflammation, and not dispersed in the air.

A nebulizer is especially convenient for laryngitis in children, because it allows you to easily do inhalations for little capricious children without the fear of burning the baby's face and throat, which sometimes happened in the practice of steam inhalations.

Preparation

A nebulizer is not a complex device. Its operating principle is extremely simple, using a nebulizer is quite easy and convenient. And yet, after purchasing an inhalation device, you must read the instructions for it at least to understand how to prepare for the procedure and carry it out correctly for the benefit of your health.

And now we will remind readers of some rules that will help them use a nebulizer for laryngitis so that various complications do not arise after the inhalation procedure:

  • Inhalations should not be performed on a full stomach or after heavy physical exertion. This may cause dizziness, increased heart rate, nausea and other unpleasant symptoms. This is especially true for children who are highly physically active even during periods of illness.

It is recommended to carry out the procedure no earlier than 1-1.5 hours after eating or active physical work.

  • Before planning an inhalation procedure, doctors insist on monitoring body temperature. If the temperature does not exceed 37.5 degrees with laryngitis, inhalation with a nebulizer can be done, but at higher temperatures, it is better to refrain from the procedure so as not to provoke a further increase in temperature and shortness of breath.
  • Inhalations for laryngitis are not the only treatment procedure. If the patient takes any other medications, such as expectorants or antibiotics, inhalation can be performed no earlier than an hour after taking the medication.
  • The same applies to regular gargling with antiseptic and anti-inflammatory agents, which are also used for laryngitis. The interval between gargling and inhalation should be about 1 hour.
  • As for smoking, it is better to give up this habit during illness (by the way, this is a good reason to say goodbye to this harmful habit forever!). If you still do not have enough willpower for such a decisive step, then you need to try to at least maintain an hour interval between the act of smoking and the beginning of the inhalation procedure. Smoking immediately after inhalation is also prohibited.
  • Clothing used during inhalation should not be tight. The neck and chest should be loose so that there are no obstacles to full breathing.
  • A mandatory requirement is to follow basic hygiene rules. Before the procedure, you need to wash your hands with soap, and only then begin preparing the inhalation solution, which must be sterile. Otherwise, you can get a secondary infection and worsen your condition.
  • When assembling a nebulizer (especially for the first time), you need to use the instructions included with it. This will save time and protect the device from damage, and the user from unnecessary expenses (after all, this is not a cheap pleasure).

There are 2 types of devices. Those that operate from the mains do not require additional power elements. However, some portable devices operate from batteries, which means you need to make sure they are present (in the packaging or in the battery compartment of the device itself) and in working order.

  • The nebulizer tank, when liquid medicine is poured in for inhalation, should not be damaged, otherwise the liquid will leak out and may even cause a short circuit. To check the container, simply pour clean water into it and wait a little without connecting the device to the AC power supply.
  • It is essential to keep the breathing mask, which is in direct contact with the skin, clean. Before using the device, wipe it with a clean cloth soaked in the solution you plan to dilute the medicine with or at least with boiled cool water.
  • The nebulizer tank should always remain clean. After using the device, the liquid container and mask should be cleaned of any remaining medication, rinsed and dried, and then disinfected with alcohol. It is better to store the device in a sealed package.
  • Solutions for inhalation should be prepared immediately before the procedure, mixing the medicine prescribed by the doctor in a certain dosage with saline solution (instead of it, you can use water for inhalation, but not tap water, even if boiled). The total volume should be about 4-5 ml.
  • If the medicine you are using has been stored in the refrigerator, it should be heated to room temperature before use. You can't do this over an open fire, but a low-temperature water bath will be just right.

Technique a nebulizer for laryngitis

A portable nebulizer for laryngitis is a very convenient way to perform a procedure that is familiar to many, but which few people like. After all, during a regular inhalation over a bowl, you have to sit or stand in an uncomfortable position, leaning over a vessel with steaming medicine, inhale deeply, suffocating from the steam, and languish from the heat.

A nebulizer eliminates all the above-described inconveniences. Inhalation should be done while sitting in a comfortable position, with your back straight, so that it is easier to breathe, and the inhaled medicine can easily penetrate deep into the throat and bronchi. The device is held in a vertical position.

For treating children, a nebulizer provides additional advantages. Many children refuse to do inhalations, because it requires them to maintain a static position for a long time, which is often simply unrealistic for a little fidget. In this case, therapeutic inhalations can be carried out when the child is in bed or even sleeping. You only need to raise the baby's head, because a nebulizer cannot work correctly in a horizontal position.

The device does not hinder the baby's breathing and does not create any inconvenience for the child. There is no need to support him, as the device is attached to the head with special straps.

To treat laryngitis, use a breathing mask, which comes with the device. After the reservoir is filled with the medicinal solution, attach the mask to the device and put it on the nose and mouth area, pressing it tightly enough to the body so that particles of the medicine do not escape through the cracks between the skin and the mask. The shape of the mask allows it to be conveniently and hermetically attached to the nasolabial triangle.

After the mask is put on the face and the device is plugged in, you can begin the procedure, calmly inhaling the air formed inside the device with the smallest particles of the medicine. In case of laryngitis, you need to inhale air only through your mouth, slowly and deeply enough, holding your breath for a couple of seconds on inhalation, and it is recommended to exhale through the nose.

It is important not to overdo it. Breathing too deeply can quickly trigger hyperventilation of the lungs, the symptoms of which are dizziness and nausea. Such breathing can also cause coughing fits.

Doctors do not recommend talking during the procedure. Firstly, it is inconvenient, and secondly, you will have to inhale deeply, which is not necessary. And it is not such a problem to remain silent for some 5-10 minutes. But if something is urgent, then the nebulizer can be removed for a few seconds, and after talking, continue the treatment procedure.

In order for the effect of inhalations to be noticeable, it is recommended to do them at least 3 times a day. But you should always take into account what time interval between inhalations is recommended for each of the drugs used. Some solutions can be used without restrictions, while others can be used once every 4-6 hours.

Usually, the procedure of inhalation with a nebulizer for laryngitis is carried out for 5-20 minutes. The exact duration of the procedure should be determined by the attending physician after prescribing the drugs used for inhalation and their recommended dosage. If during inhalation the patient begins to feel discomfort, dizziness, nausea, you need to remove the mask and rest for half a minute, and then continue the procedure.

What drugs are used for inhalation with a nebulizer for laryngitis

The times when patients with colds and viral diseases had to suffer over a bowl of potato broth due to the lack of effective medications and inhalers are gradually fading into oblivion. Today, several types of devices are used in the treatment of laryngeal inflammation, differing in size and operating principle, and many dosage forms that provide a comprehensive approach to the treatment of pathology.

There are currently 3 types of nebulizers available for sale:

  • Ultrasonic. In these devices, air laced with medications is supplied to the mask using high-frequency sound waves. However, such inhalers are capable of destroying high-molecular compounds of some types of medications used during the procedure, making inhalations ineffective.
  • Compression (compressor). Air is supplied to them with the help of low pressure. The air flow breaks the medicine into tiny particles, which then settle on the mucous membrane of the pharynx and larynx. The disadvantages of these devices include a strong noise background and large dimensions. In addition, they can only be used in a strictly vertical position.
  • Membrane (MESH-nebulizers, electronic mesh). Their action is based on the vibration of a membrane with many small holes (mesh), with the help of which both air is supplied and the medicine is crushed. Such nebulizers turn the medicinal solution into an aerosol without damaging the structure of the medicine. Most portable nebulizers that can be used at home use a vibration system, which has virtually no drawbacks.

Be that as it may, all nebulizers are capable of delivering medicine deep into the larynx, bronchi, trachea, which means they can be used in inpatient or outpatient treatment of laryngitis. Another question is what drugs to use for laryngitis for inhalation with a nebulizer, after all, the pathology has a variety of symptoms, the fight against which can be carried out with different drugs.

Since laryngitis is almost always accompanied by a dry cough, drugs with a mucolytic effect are quite popular in inhalation treatment; they thin the sputum and help it to be removed from the respiratory tract. Such drugs include Ambroxol, Lazolvan, Mukolvan, Ambrobene, N-acetylcysteine, ACC inject and some others. All drugs used for inhalation should be purchased in the form of a solution, which is poured into a nebulizer together with saline (9% NaCl) in a 1:1 ratio.

With laryngitis, there is always an inflammatory process in the larynx, which can lead to laryngeal edema and laryngospasm. In order to stop it, it is recommended to use glucocorticosteroids. Not everyone is allowed to use hormonal drugs internally, and such treatment can have unpleasant consequences. But external hormonal therapy is considered a fairly safe and effective procedure.

For inhalations with a nebulizer for laryngitis, you can use hormonal drugs "Pulmicort", "Dexamethasone", "Hydrocortisone", "Flixotide" and others, without fear of various side effects. As an anti-inflammatory agent, you can also use herbal preparations based on calendula, chamomile, yarrow ("Rotokan", "Tonsilgon", etc.).

The inflammatory process on the mucous membrane makes it more sensitive to various irritants, including bacterial infection, so it is recommended to treat the inner surface of the larynx with antiseptics. Effective antiseptics include Furacilin, Chlorophyllipt, Miramistin, Dioxidin and other antimicrobial solutions. However, in acute conditions, you need to be careful with antiseptics, since they can only increase laryngospasm and provoke asphyxia.

To prevent asthma attacks in acute laryngitis (especially of allergic origin), inhalations can be performed with bronchodilator drugs (Berodual, Berotek, Salbutam, Atrovent, etc.), and the patient can also be given antihistamines and decongestant injections.

In case of severe spasm of the larynx or bronchi, as well as to prevent the spread of the inflammatory process to the bronchi and lungs, according to the doctor's instructions, inhalations with such drugs as "Euphyllin", "Epinephrine", "Adrenaline" can be carried out. For use in a nebulizer, the medicine must be diluted with saline in a ratio of 1:6.

Bacterial laryngitis, in addition to antitussive and anti-inflammatory therapy, requires the prescription of antibacterial agents. Most of them are prescribed in the form of tablets or injections, but the drug "Fluimucil" can even be used for inhalation in the dosage prescribed by the doctor.

Nebulizer solutions for laryngitis are usually prepared on the basis of physiological solution. Most preparations are diluted in a ratio of 1:1 or 1:2. It is recommended to dilute a 1% solution of Chlorophyllipt with physiological solution in a ratio of 1:10. It is recommended to dilute herbal medicines of pharmaceutical production in a different ratio - 1:40.

However, in case of uncomplicated laryngitis, it is not necessary to resort to potent drugs. Alkaline inhalation with a nebulizer for laryngitis can significantly improve the patient's condition, since such a solution has a protective and moisturizing effect on the inflamed organ. After alkaline inhalations, symptoms such as sore throat and dry throat go away, the cough softens, because phlegm, diluted with droplets of moisture, begins to move away better.

As an alkaline composition for inhalation, you can use a soda solution (2 tablespoons of soda per 0.5 liters of water, completely dissolve and strain), soda buffer, mineral waters with an alkalizing effect (Borjomi, Essentuki, Luzhanskaya and some others), physiological solution (9% saline solution).

Alkaline solutions, including saline, have a good antiseptic effect, due to which they can cope with mild inflammation caused by a viral infection even without the use of other drugs. In addition, inhalations with a nebulizer with saline are effective for allergic laryngitis, since they allow the allergen to be neutralized by removing it from the body, which significantly improves the patient's condition.

Inhalations with saline solution can only be carried out using a nebulizer. The steam method is ineffective in this case, because when heated, the saline solution forms a sediment, and a person has to breathe pure steam, which does not give a noticeable effect. A nebulizer does not require heating the saline solution, but with the help of a special device turns the salty liquid into a therapeutic aerosol.

Often, when the larynx is inflamed, the doctor will prescribe several inhalation medications at once, but this does not mean that they should be used simultaneously. The usual treatment regimen involves the following algorithm of actions:

  1. Inhalations with expectorants (if both bronchodilators and mucolytics are prescribed, then first do an inhalation with bronchodilators, and after 20-25 minutes you can carry out the procedure with agents that thin phlegm).
  2. Inhalations with antiseptics or anti-inflammatory hormonal agents (carried out 20-30 minutes later, when the patient has completely coughed up the sputum, which has become less viscous after the previous procedure).

The attending physician should tell you how many inhalations you need to do per day and how many days you need to be treated this way. Resolving such issues on your own, relying on your own experience and advice from the Internet, is quite dangerous, especially when it comes to antibiotics and steroid drugs.

Now let's talk a little about the compositions that are not recommended for use in nebulizers. First of all, these are oil mixtures and essential oils. The use of the latter has a good result in the case of steam inhalations, when there is active evaporation of useful substances in oils. And the use of oily mixtures presents difficulty in breaking down the drug into small particles and complicates the antiseptic treatment of the nebulizer after the procedure.

It is also considered undesirable to use herbal decoctions and infusions of home preparation, which can unexpectedly cause an allergic reaction (do not forget that during inflammation the mucous membrane becomes especially sensitive). And even pharmacy drugs with a non-uniform consistency are not recommended for inhalation by doctors. However, such drugs can be successfully used for gargling with laryngitis.

Some pharmaceutical preparations, although they have a beneficial effect on inflammation of the larynx, are not used in inhalation treatment due to their low efficiency when applied locally. Such medicines in the form of solutions as "Theophylline", "Papaverine" and some others are intended only for injection, which means that using them in inhalers is inappropriate.

Inhalations with a nebulizer for children

Inhalation treatment is familiar to many since childhood, because almost all mothers, on the advice of relatives and doctors, resort to the procedure to treat most respiratory pathologies, especially those that, like laryngitis, are accompanied by a dry cough. But children suffer from inflammatory pathologies of the respiratory organs much more often than most adults. And the reason for this is the imperfection of the immune system, which is formed within a few years after the birth of the baby.

Moreover, children's nasal passages are not yet able to fully retain dust, allergens, viruses and bacteria that get there, which contributes to the spread of the process in depth, i.e. to the larynx, bronchi, trachea, lungs. But first of all, the larynx suffers, because it is located closest to the nasopharynx, which means that laryngitis in children is far from a rare occurrence.

Laryngitis is more dangerous for children than for adults, because the child's larynx is not wide enough yet, which means that when it swells, its lumen becomes such that it prevents normal breathing and sputum discharge. As a result, a strong suffocating cough and asphyxia are often observed.

Laryngitis in children is a pathology that requires thorough treatment, and inhalations are the most effective and safe method, which, in combination with pharmaceutical and physiotherapeutic methods, gives a fairly quick result, allowing the disease to be cured completely within a week and prevent it from becoming chronic.

However, doing inhalations for children is not as easy as it seems at first glance. Not every adult can successfully stand for 10-15 minutes over the steam, covering themselves with a blanket so that the precious steam from the potato broth, soda solution or other medicinal compounds heated to a high temperature does not escape. Firstly, very soon the person gets hot, and he begins to choke from the steam. And then there is sweat in a hail, which you can’t even brush off, because your hands usually remain outside.

Secondly, the face starts to "burn" from the hot air and the patient feels even more discomfort. Some may even experience a rise in body temperature.

Thirdly, the procedure itself is quite tiring, because you have to stand or sit in one position for quite a long time, bending your head over the bowl. But it is difficult for children to sit quietly even for a minute if they are not busy with something interesting, let alone make them take an unpleasant procedure for a quarter of an hour.

All these problems can be successfully solved by inhaling children with laryngitis, pharyngitis or bronchitis with a nebulizer. The procedure itself can be carried out for the baby even at home during night (day) sleep, using a portable nebulizer with a special children's mask, which is included in the device kit.

Any inhalation device comes with instructions, which, among other things, indicate what solutions can be used in this nebulizer. That is, parents will not even have to rack their brains over which solution to use during the procedure.

By the way, some nebulizer models have bright colors and accessories that will certainly interest the baby, thereby distracting him from the procedure. For 5-10 minutes, the child's attention will be occupied by a beautiful "toy", which means he will not be capricious and try to remove the device.

A nebulizer for laryngitis in children is an indispensable device that makes the work of parents much easier, as they will not have to force their little ones to undergo an unpleasant procedure through tears. After all, treatment with a nebulizer can be carried out even without the consent of the child, who will sleep peacefully at this time, and his body will recover.

Contraindications to the procedure

Despite the variety of drugs for inhalation with a nebulizer, including saline and soda solutions, and the devices used for this, inhalation therapy is considered a serious medical procedure, and therefore requires a responsible attitude.

A nebulizer used to treat a child with laryngitis may have a beautiful bright color and decorations in the form of toys, but it still remains a medical device. This should not be forgotten, as well as the fact that inhalations, as one of the therapeutic methods, may have certain contraindications to the procedure.

Let's say right away that there are not so many prohibitions regarding the procedure. However, failure to comply with them can have disastrous consequences.

  1. High temperature. Despite the fact that hot liquids are not used in nebulizers, the procedure is recommended only at normal and subfebrile body temperature (up to 37.5 ° C for adults, up to 38° C for children ).
  2. The presence of pus in the sputum. This indicates a complicated course of the disease and the presence of a bacterial infection, which must be treated systematically.
  3. Nosebleeds. Since inhalations require exhalation through the nose, they can only complicate the situation.
  4. Blood in the sputum. This symptom may indicate more serious pathologies than laryngitis, so it requires additional research and treatment.
  5. Functional disorders of the heart and blood vessels. In this case, a consultation with a specialist doctor about the possibility of using a particular treatment method is mandatory.
  6. Severe respiratory pathologies. Inhalations can provoke spasm of the larynx or bronchi, which will lead to suffocation.

Consequences after the procedure

Doctors believe that everyone can use a nebulizer for laryngitis, including newborns, which is very convenient, because not all therapeutic methods are available at this age. Inhalations with a nebulizer make it possible to get rid of many symptoms of the disease quite comfortably and safely. Usually, no negative consequences are observed after the procedure.

But so far we have been talking about inhalations that were prescribed by a doctor, i.e. a person received a scheme, which describes the drugs for inhalation, their dosage, methods of dilution, time and frequency of the procedure. By adhering to the doctor's recommendations, the patient thereby prevents the onset of unpleasant complications and consequences.

If you self-medicate, and even without taking into account the contraindications to the procedure, then with pathologies of the cardiovascular system you can even get a heart attack, and with complicated bronchopulmonary pathologies - asphyxia. Not to mention the fact that in the presence of fungal flora, which caused laryngitis, inhalations can provoke the spread of infection deep (bronchi, trachea, lungs).

Complications may also occur if, when using a nebulizer for laryngitis, you do not take care of its cleanliness, because the addition of a bacterial infection often leads to a complicated course of the disease, when local and systemic antibiotic therapy comes to the fore.

Care after the procedure

Inhalations with a nebulizer are a fairly simple but very effective procedure for laryngitis. And the device itself makes it much easier to carry out therapeutic inhalations, although it requires a certain amount of self-care.

Care of the nebulizer after the procedure consists of thoroughly cleaning the reservoir and mask from drug residues. The parts of the device must be thoroughly washed with boiled water and dried. Additionally, it is recommended to treat the mask and liquid reservoir with an antiseptic solution (for example, alcohol).

It is better to store the disinfected dry device in a sealed package where various microorganisms cannot get in.

As for the patient himself, after the procedure it is better to refrain from talking and walking in the fresh air for some time in the cold season, after rain or in conditions of high dustiness. It is better to lie down for half an hour to rest in a quiet environment.

Rinsing the mouth after inhalation is required only when corticosteroids were used as a medicinal solution. In this case, it is recommended to rinse the mouth with boiled or purified water after the procedure.

As we can see, a nebulizer for laryngitis is a full-fledged medical device that not only facilitates the procedure of inhalation therapy, but also makes it much more effective and safer. It is not for nothing that doctors recommend that everyone acquire such a useful device.
