Pharmacodynamics

Hofitol is of vegetable origin and has a hepatoprotective, choleretic, and diuretic effect on the body. In addition, the drug reduces the amount of urea in the blood. In the medicine there is artichoke extract that contains carotene, as well as ascorbic acid along with inulin, and in addition vitamins of groups B1 and B2. All these substances stabilize metabolism. Hofitol also increases the production of coenzymes by hepatocytes and, at the same time, affects the metabolism of substances such as cholesterol, lipids, and ketone bodies. During the treatment with antibiotics, the drug detoxifies the renal or hepatic parenchyma. The drug removes various toxic substances from the body.

Pharmacokinetics

Artichoke extract contains a whole complex of bioactive components - such as polyphenolic elements (it's luteolin and cynarine, and various acids (among them caffeine, and ferulic and chlorogenic)), inulin, bioflavonoids, various vitamins with minerals, and trace elements and sesquiterpene lactones. Thus, the effect of the drug is caused by the combined effect of all these substances. That is why it is impossible to conduct kinetic studies of the drug - it is impossible to trace all elements with the help of bioassays or markers. Because of this, it is also impossible to identify all the metabolites of the drug.
