It is used to treat hemorrhoids with pain, as well as cracks in the rectum.
Release form
The drug is released in the form of rectal suppositories. There are 5 suppositories inside the blister plate. The box contains 2 plates.
Pharmacodynamics
Atropine (which is a highly active belladonna alkaloid) has an analgesic and antispasmodic effect, which is why it is often used to treat diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract, which are accompanied by muscle spasms: spastic colitis, ulcers, colic in the stomach or intestines, and pylorospasm. Since pain often occurs due to spasms, atropine eliminates pain along with their elimination. Belladonna extract in the form of suppositories is used to eliminate hemorrhoids and spasms of the uterine muscles.
The ichthyol component has anti-inflammatory, keratoplastic, disinfectant and local analgesic properties. The high level of sulfur inside the component provides an antimicrobial effect. After local use, pain and exudation are reduced, and in addition, blood circulation processes are improved and tissue healing is accelerated.
Dosing and administration
The medicine should be administered rectally, 1 suppository three times a day (it is recommended to do this after defecation or a cleansing enema). If necessary, more frequent use of Betiol is allowed - up to 10 times a day. The suppository should be inserted from a side position, lying down. At the same time, the suppository should not begin to melt. It is inserted to a depth of 2-2.5 cm, after which the patient should bring the buttocks together and remain lying down for a few more minutes. The duration of therapy is determined by the effectiveness of the drug (often it is 7-10 days).

Reviews
Betiol works great in the treatment of hemorrhoids with a pronounced form of inflammation. Since it has a complex of various therapeutic properties, it is used for the combined treatment of hemorrhoids. Reviews regarding suppositories are mostly positive. Patients note that the drug has a low cost, but at the same time indicate that it only works for pain and inflammation with a low degree of intensity.
Betiol suppositories can be used for combination therapy for inflammatory gynecological pathologies: endometriosis, endometritis or adnexitis. The medicine for these diseases is used in combination with other drugs as a condition alleviator and a means of reducing pain and spasms. The element ichthyol has an additional anti-inflammatory effect.
Also, the medication, in combination with prostatilen, is effective in the treatment of chronic prostatitis.
