Haileflox is a remedy that fights microorganisms that cause infectious and inflammatory diseases. The drug is prescribed for medical reasons. The peculiarity of this drug is the active substance, which begins to work immediately after taking the drug. Let's consider the main indications for the use of Haileflox.

Indications Haileflox

Indications for use of Haileflox are based on the action of the active substance of the drug. Let's consider in what cases the drug is prescribed for use.

Release form

The release form of Haileflox is tablets. The drug is released in packs of 250 mg, 500 mg and 750 mg of the active substance. The tablets are released in a blister of 3, 5 or 10 tablets. One package contains one blister of the drug. Please note that the tablets are also released in larger doses, especially for inpatient departments of hospitals. Thus, Haileflox is released in PVC packages of 100, 500 and even 1000 tablets. Each package of tablets is placed in a high-density PE jar.

This form of release of Haileflox is convenient for use. The drug is available in different dosages and quantities of tablets. This allows you to calculate in advance how much of the drug is needed to complete the full course of treatment.

Pharmacodynamics

Pharmacodynamics of Haileflox are the processes and actions that occur with the active substance of the drug after entering the body. The active substance of the drug is levofloxacin. Levofloxacin is a synthetic fluoroquinolone with a wide spectrum of action. The substance inhibits DNA gyrase and topoisomerase, suppresses DNA synthesis, disrupts the fusion of DNA breaks and causes profound morphological changes in cells, cytoplasm and sensitive microorganisms.

The active substance of Haileflox is active against:

  • Aerobic gram-positive microorganisms;
  • Aerobic gram-negative microorganisms;
  • Anaerobic microorganisms.

Pharmacokinetics

Pharmacokinetics of Haileflox are the processes of absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of the drug. Let's take a closer look at how these processes occur in the human body.

  • Absorption – after administration, the active substance of the drug levofloxacin is completely absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract. The drug is absorbed very quickly, within a couple of minutes after administration. Food intake does not affect the absorption of the drug. The bioavailability of Haileflox is 99%, and the concentration of the active substance in the blood plasma after 2-3 hours reaches the maximum level for this type of drug.
  • Distribution – binding of the drug to plasma proteins is 30-40%. The active substance penetrates tissues and organs perfectly. Active components penetrate the mucous membrane of the lungs and bronchi, alveolar macrophages, and organs of the genitourinary system.
  • Metabolism – the drug is metabolized in the liver, causing deacetylation or oxidation.
  • Excretion – Haileflox is excreted from the body unchanged via the kidneys. Thus, 70% of the dose taken is excreted within 24 hours, the remaining part is excreted with feces within 72 hours.

Dosing and administration

The method of administration and dosage of the drug are prescribed individually for each patient and depend on many factors - the patient's age, the symptoms of the disease, the presence of chronic diseases and contraindications to the use of Haileflox. Taking the drug does not depend on meals. Let's consider the methods of administration and dosage of Haileflox.

  • Hospital pneumonia – daily dose 750 mg, duration of treatment 1-2 weeks.
  • Exacerbation of chronic bronchitis – daily dose 500 mg of Haileflox, duration of treatment 7 days.
  • Complex therapy of tuberculosis – the drug is taken twice a day, 500 mg, the duration of treatment is up to three months.
  • Skin diseases and subcutaneous tissue infections – take Haileflox once a day, no more than 500 mg, duration of treatment – no longer than 10 days.
  • Urinary tract infections - take 250-750 mg of the drug, from one to ten days.
  • Intra-abdominal infection – take 500 mg of Haileflox, treatment from one to two weeks.

If the drug is prescribed to patients with renal failure, the dose of the drug Haileflox is selected individually for each patient.

Use Haileflox during pregnancy

The use of Haileflox during pregnancy is prohibited. Taking the drug in the first trimester of pregnancy can cause miscarriage and bleeding. But in the later stages, Haileflox leads to problems and complications during childbirth. The drug can cause pathologies in the development of the baby.

Haileflox is also prohibited for use during breastfeeding. The drug enters the unprotected body of the child along with the mother's milk. Therefore, it can cause overdose symptoms and other complications. During lactation, it is necessary to stop breastfeeding the child if taking the drug is necessary for medical reasons.

Contraindications

  • Adolescence up to 18 years and childhood patients;

Overdose

When using Haileflox with warfarin, the medicinal properties of the latter are enhanced.

Storage conditions

The storage conditions of Haileflox are described in the instructions for the drug. Haileflox should be stored in a dark, cool, dry place, protected from sunlight and children. The storage temperature of the drug is from 8° to 25°C.
