Glauvent is a medicine whose main active ingredient is glaucine phosphate. Glauvent belongs to a group of drugs used to treat respiratory diseases such as bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Glaucine phosphate is a bronchodilator that helps to widen the bronchi and improve airway patency. It works by stimulating beta-adrenergic receptors in the airways, which leads to relaxation of the bronchial smooth muscles and a decrease in their resistance, making breathing easier.

Glauvent can be found in a variety of forms, including tablets, capsules, syrups, or inhalations. It is usually used in combination with other medications to treat and control symptoms of respiratory diseases.

When using Glauvent, it is important to follow your doctor's recommendations and instructions for use to achieve maximum therapeutic effect and avoid side effects.

Indications Glauwent

  1. Bronchial asthma: Glauvent helps reduce airway resistance by widening the bronchi and making breathing easier. It can be used as an adjunctive treatment for asthma in patients who do not have adequate control of their symptoms with other medications.
  2. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD): Glauvent may be used to improve airway clearance and relieve cough in patients with COPD.
  3. Chronic bronchitis: In some cases, Glauvent may be prescribed to treat symptoms of chronic bronchitis, such as cough and difficulty breathing.
  4. Other respiratory diseases: Glauvent can sometimes be used to relieve symptoms of other respiratory diseases such as obstructive bronchitis, bronchiolitis, and others.

Release form

Glauvent (glaucine phosphate) is available in the following dosage forms: Tablets or capsules for oral use.

Pharmacodynamics

  1. Bronchodilator action: Glaucine stimulates beta-adrenergic receptors in the bronchial alveoli, which leads to relaxation of the smooth muscles of the bronchi. This reduces airway resistance and facilitates breathing, especially in coughing associated with bronchial spasm.
  2. Expectorant action: Glaucine also stimulates the secretion of glands in the bronchial glands, which helps to liquefy and reduce the viscosity of sputum. This helps improve expectoration and removal of mucus from the respiratory tract.

Pharmacokinetics

Information on the pharmacokinetics of the drug Glauvent (glaucine phosphate) is not publicly available and may only be available in official studies or documents provided by the manufacturer of the drug.

Dosing and administration

  1. Dosage: The dosage of Glauvent may vary depending on the severity of the patient's condition, the nature of the disease and individual characteristics. Usually, the doctor prescribes the optimal dose for each patient.
  2. Directions for use: Glauvent is usually taken orally, i.e. through the mouth. Tablets or capsules are swallowed whole with plenty of water. Sometimes the drug can be taken with food, if this is indicated in the instructions.

Use Glauwent during pregnancy

  1. General information:

    • During pregnancy, medications should be used with extreme caution due to the potential risk to the developing fetus. Many medications can cross the placenta and potentially harm the baby.
  2. Risks and recommendations:

    • There is very little specific data on the safety of using glaucine during pregnancy. This means that the effects on the fetus have not been sufficiently studied, making its use risky without clear medical indications and strict medical supervision.
    • Doctors generally recommend avoiding the use of drugs with an unclear safety profile during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, when important organs and systems of the baby are being formed.
  3. Alternative options:

    • To treat a cough during pregnancy, doctors may recommend safer alternatives, such as humidifying the air, drinking warm fluids, and, if needed, using medications known to be safe during pregnancy.

Contraindications

  1. Known Allergy: People with a known allergy to glaucine or other components of this product should avoid using it.
  2. Pregnancy and breastfeeding: During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the use of Glauvent requires special caution and consultation with a doctor.
  3. Childhood: The use of Glauvent in children requires special caution and strict adherence to the doctor's recommendations regarding dosage and regimen.
  4. Liver failure: In the presence of liver failure, the use of Glauvent may be contraindicated or require dosage adjustment under the supervision of a physician.
  5. Heart failure: Glauvent may affect the functioning of the heart, so its use may be contraindicated in patients with heart failure or other cardiovascular diseases.
  6. Glaucoma: Glauvent may cause pupil dilation, which may worsen symptoms of glaucoma or other eye diseases. If you have glaucoma, use Glauvent with caution and with medical supervision.
  7. Urolithiasis: Glauvent may cause urinary retention, which may be undesirable for patients with urolithiasis or other urinary tract diseases.

Side effects Glauwent

  1. Cardiac side effects: Increased heart rate (tachycardia), feeling of palpitations.
  2. Neuromuscular side effects: Dizziness, anxiety, tremors, insomnia.
  3. Digestive side effects: Dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.
  4. Skin reactions: Skin rash, itching, urticaria.
  5. Other side effects: Allergic reactions, chest pain, irritability, etc. may occur.

Overdose

  1. Increased side effects: This may include increased drowsiness, dizziness, nausea and vomiting, and more severe gastrointestinal irritation.
  2. Tachycardia: Increased heart rate may occur due to stimulation of beta-adrenergic receptors.
  3. Arterial hypertension: An increase in blood pressure may occur as a result of stimulation of adrenergic receptors.
  4. Muscle tremors: Increased muscle excitability and tremors may occur due to the adrenergic stimulating effect of glaucine.
  5. Other side effects: Headache, insomnia, disorientation, unconsciousness and other nervous disorders may occur.
