One of such effective drugs-protectors of the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract is Gastrofarm.
Indications Gastroparm
The need to use drugs that protect the mucous membrane of the digestive organs from irritation occurs in such cases:
- In gastritis with a high level of acidity of gastric juice, which is a known irritant due to the high content of hydrochloric acid. Taking the drug will have a positive effect, both in acute pathology, and in the case of chronic disease.
- Ulcerous lesions of the stomach and duodenum, in which mucosal protection is the main condition for its recovery and prevention of dangerous complications, such as perforation of the ulcer.
- An increase in the acidity of gastric juice is not associated with the pathology of the gastrointestinal tract.
Irritation of the stomach and intestinal mucosa can cause not only hydrochloric acid in the gastric juice, but also certain medications taken orally. As a result of their intake (especially prolonged), there is a high probability of developing the same gastritis, duodenitis or stomach ulcer and duodenum.
"Gastrofarm" will protect the mucosa from the irritating effects of drugs and help prevent dangerous complications.
Eating food that increases the level of hydrochloric acid in the stomach and increases its secretion, eating dry, some eating habits, drinking alcohol and smoking can also have a negative effect on the state of the stomach and intestinal mucosa, and in general on the work of the gastrointestinal tract. Release form
The drug "Gastrofarm" has only one form of release - tablets (6 pieces in one blister, 6.12 or 18 pieces per pack). At the same time, the tablets are a bit unusual, although they have the usual round shape. Unusual them makes not only the color (from beige to light brown, slightly lighter than all known "Citramon", with small light impregnations, which gives the tablets some kind of marbling) and a rather large size (2.5 cm in diameter with a risk), but also composition an unusual composition, reminiscent of the composition of bacterial starter cultures.
Sweet and sour tastes of the tablet contain a special substance from the dried, but liable to life and multiplication cells of lactobacilli LB-51 (Lactobacillus delbrueckii spp. Bulgaricus strain 51). In addition to the cellular material, the tablets contain active products of the vital activity of bacteria.
As additional components, stearic acid is included in the composition of the tablets (to improve the mixing of various components in tablets and to give the drug mixture the required form) and sucrose (to improve the taste).
Pharmacodynamics
The high protein content (of the order of 30-35%) produced predominantly by LB-51, as well as the substances that these bacteria produce during their lifetime, provides the therapeutic and protective effect of the drug against the gastrointestinal mucosa, which makes the drug effective in gastritis and ulcers stomach and duodenum.
Among the products of the vital activity of bacteria present in the composition of the drug "Gastrofarm", you can notice many substances necessary for our body. These are lactic, malic and nucleic acids of DNA and RNA. In addition, the bacteria produce polysaccharides and polypeptides, as well as some useful for the human body alpha-amino acids.
Due to this composition, the drug has a protective effect against the mucosa of the stomach and intestines, due to which the recovery processes in these organs proceed faster and more efficiently. The presence in the preparation of a large amount of protein provides an anesthetic and antacid (reducing the acidity of the gastric juice) effect.
The fact that the drug contains viable bacteria, makes it similar to the effect on the body of bacterial starter cultures and products prepared on their basis. The drug normalizes the microflora of the body and has a positive effect on the work of the stomach and intestines.
Dosing and administration
Tablets "Gastrofarm" are intended for oral administration. You need to take them before meals (ideally half an hour before the main meal), washed down with water, taken in small quantities.
Because of the large size of the tablet, you need to grind it. Usually they are recommended to be pre-chewed before swallowing, but can also be ground in another way, mixed with water and drunk as a drug suspension.
The effective dosage of the drug depends on the patient's age, as well as on the type and form of the pathology.
So, with an increased level of acidity of gastric juice and caused by this condition gastritis adults are recommended to take the drug three times a day in the amount of 1 or 2 tablets for 1 month (30 days).
To small patients, the age of which is from 3 to 12 years, is recommended a single dose in half a tablet (on the tablets for this purpose, it is risky for the break), which is better to grind and mix with water beforehand.
Adolescents from 12 to 18 years are given 1 tablet per reception. Multiplicity of admission in both adults and children remains constant - 3 times a day. The same can be said about the duration of therapy.
Usually the effect of the drug can be observed after a week from the beginning of its administration. If this does not happen, the effective dose should be revised upwards. In most cases, the dose is doubled. In the same dosage, it is recommended to start treatment with acute gastritis.
If the patient is diagnosed with ulcerative lesions of the stomach and duodenum, the effective single dose will be different. For adult patients, it will be from 3 to 4 tablets. Multiplicity of admission and duration of the therapeutic course are the same as in the treatment of acute and chronic gastritis: 3 times a day for a month.
As a preventive measure of gastrointestinal diseases, the drug is administered with a 15-day course in a dosage of 1-2 tablets three times a day. In the same dosage 2 or 3 times a day, the drug can be taken and avid smokers or alcohol lovers.
Use Gastroparm during pregnancy
Use of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not prohibited, but about the possibility of drug therapy in children under 3 years old should consult a pediatrician.

Overdose
It is not reported in the annotation to the drug and about cases of overdose, which is not surprising, because the bacteria in the natural medicine and the substances produced by them are not alien to our body.
